Project Pan 2021 : 6 Month Progress Update

Greetings everyone! I had a little quiet month through June, I’ve been really busy socialising and seeing friends and I was feeling a little uninspired by the pile of empties I had waiting for me as a blog post. I’ve decided I think whilst I’m still going to track my empties because I love the end of year round up – I’m not going to most end of month empties any more, I’m not getting much joy out of writing them up at the moment – and it’s been a blocker for me doing anything else on my blog all month. So instead we’re jumping into my Project Pan update at the halfway point for the year!

Stila Magnificent Metals Kitten Karma Minis x 2
Goal: Finish both / Start Weigh In: 32.1g /2 Month Progress 31.7g / 4 Month Progress: 31.4g / 6 Month Progress: 31.43g

I’ve used these a handful of times over the past few months but not too often – new palettes coming into my life have been a bit of a distraction on finishing these up! These still gain weight from me rehydrating with setting sprays while I am still using them up. I need to put these somewhere more prominent so I reach for them more.

Colourpop Glitterati Supershock Shadow
Goal: Finish / Introduced March Weigh In: 12g / 4 Month Progress: 18.00g / 6 Month Progress: 17.88g

Note – start weigh in was obviously noted wrong. I haven’t used this too much the formula is really dry and I find the really light colour of this isn’t the most flattering on me – particularly now I’m very tanned. I hope to finish it a little more before the end of the year, but I don’t suspect this will be a full finish as I’m not enjoying using it compared to swanky new palettes from Natasha Denona and Colourpop.

Makeup Geek Heart Throb Blush
Goal: Finish / Start Weigh In: 35.0g / 2 Month Progress : 34.4g / 4 Month Progress: 33.9g / 6 Month Progress 33.1g

I’m so so close to the end of this – I’m determined to use up that final ring and was disappointed it didn’t quite make it to the end by this check in point, but I’m days away from finishing this off! I have a lot of love for this blush and will be sad when it’s finished up, it’s a neutral leaning slightly peach and find it flattering on my skintone for someone who likes something fairly subtle.

RMCA No Colour Powder
Goal: Finish / Start Weigh In: 96.2g / 2 Month Progress : 88.1g / 4 Month Progress: 75.9g / 6 Month Progress: 59.41g

Still exclusively the powder I’ve used all year, I can see progress on this but still over half full, this won’t be finished by end of year! I like this powder but I’m kind of getting sick of seeing it at this point, mainly as the packaging isn’t great and I keep another old powder pot to sift it into bit by bit.

Smashbox Studio Skin Full Coverage Foundation
Goal: Use 10g of Product / Start Weigh In: 37.7g/ 2 Month Progress : 37.6g / 4 Month Progress : 37.6g / 6 Month Progress: 34.23g

I’ve finally caught enough of a tan to be able to use this – yay! This is a lovely foundation and I’m really enjoying using it. I’m not sure that 10g of product was a realistic target for the whole year, it depends on if summer decides to return otherwise this may become too dark for me again – but I do now have foundation lightening drops as everything in my collection was too dark at one point.

Becca Skin Love Setting Spray
Goal: Finish / May Introduction Weigh In: 103.4g / 2 Month Progress 79.58g

I’ve made good progress on this, mostly for wetting eyeshadows and I’ve really enjoyed using setting spray on foundation sponges before pressing into the skin. I suspect by the next check in this will be finished up! Not my favourite setting spray but I do like how skinny the bottle is on this, it’s good for makeup bag throw-ins and doesn’t feel like it’s taking up a tonne of space.

Tom Ford Velvet Orchid Perfume
Goal: Finish / Start Weigh In: 164.5g / 2 Month Progress: 158.8g / 4 Month Progress: 152.5g / 6 Month Progress: 143.22g

This has had a lot of focus on the past two months and I am getting close to it being done. I part want to just get it finished up. but I do also feel like maybe I will miss it more than I thought I would when it is finished up, so I may slow the pace on this and focus on finishing up some other samples in the meantime so I can enjoy this throughout the rest of the year.

Pixi Vitamin C Caviar Balm
Goal: Finish / Start Weigh In: 38.7g / 2 Month Progress: 37.7g / 4 Month Progress: 36.0g / 6 Month Progress: 31.37g

Honestly, I feel like the only time this gets used is when I’m gathering up products for this post to recap and I’m like, oh better slap a bit of that on so there’s at least a bit of progress. This keeps getting lost on my dressing table, when I have it on my bedside table next to my Augustinus Bader products it just gets lost too.

Freeman’s Apple Cider Vinegar Clay Face Mask
Goal: Finish / Start Weigh In: 181.5g / 2 Month Progress : 176.4g / 4 Month Progress: 171.9g / 6 Month Progress: 169.30g

Still slow progress on this face mask, however I have now finished the other clay mask that was stealing my attention, so I feel a little more sure I should be able to make better progress on this through the rest of the year. I don’t know why I’m not drawn to it as it is a great mask, I think it’s the tube colour maybe, it just blends in my beige tiled bathroom compared to other things I leave out.

OZ Naturals Ancient Orient Rice Enzyme Dermafoliant
Goal: Finish / Start Weigh In: 69.8g / 2 Month Progress : 65.0g / 4 Month Progress: 61.3g / 6 Month Progress: 59.37g

Another nightmare product for me, I just don’t want to reach for it – I don’t want to go the faff of mixing up a paste on my hands. I have been using a scrub from Ole Henriksen which I loved which I have just finished, I want to repurchase that one but I’m resisting in the hope it will force me to finish this off or at least make some progress with it.

Jeffree Star Lip Scrub in Mojito
Goal: Finish / Start Weigh In: 52.5g / 2 Month Progress : 51.0g / 4 Month Progress: 48.2g / 6 Month Progress: 47.55g

I’ve been using some incredible lip balms recently and my need for lip scrubs like I have in winter has been pretty minimal so I’m not surprised at just how little progress I’ve managed on this! One for autumn winter again I hope – I’d now be surprised if I do finish this by end of year!
Review of Mojito Lip Scrub

L’Occitane Intensive Hand Balm [Gifted by M&S]
Goal: Finish / May Introduction Weigh In : 146.3g / 2 Month Progress 118.57g

I was surprised at how much of this I’d used actually. It’s been on my desk but I don’t feel like I’ve reached for it every day – but I’ve also been using it on my elbows and any dry areas when I have got it out. I should be able to finish this by the end of the year, it feels like a big old tube!

OPI Avoplex Exfoliating Cuticle Remover
Goal: Finish / May Introduction Weigh In : 23.0g / 2 Month Progress 17.21g

This is something that I have been reaching for as I’m determined to see this ten year old product gone for good! Good progress made for something you need so little of, it’s getting very close to the end now, I can see the settled product line is sitting around the bottom of the label – this may. be a product I have to savagely cut open to scrape the barrel of as it’s getting difficult to squeeze product out.

Target Hit – Keeping In Project

Colourpop California Love Palette
Goal: Use 2g of Product / Start Weigh In: 122.0g /2 Month Progress: 118.8g / 4 Month Progress: 117.2g / 6 Month Progress: 116.53g

This hasn’t been used as much in the past 2 months as it was in the past 4, but I have pulled it out the odd time more recently as I’d love to finish the shade Diego by the end of the year, hit pan on Mission and see a good dip progress in The Bay. I still think by the end of the year this palette will be done with to declutter completely but I am intrigued to see how far  I can get by the end of the year before I decide to let it go as most of the colours I’m drawn to will have gone completely.

Completed

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Vanilla Quartz
Goal: Hit Pan/ May Introduction Weigh In: 22.9g / Finished End of June

I only put this mini in at the start of May and I’ve managed to find my way through this quite quickly, I found this formula a little chalky so rather than using a fan brush I found it applied better using something fluffier, it meant I blasted through product quite quickly. This was okay not my favourite shade or formula from Becca and not one I’d certainly be looking to rush and stock up on before Becca disappears.

Topshop Lip Crayon in Feather
Goal: Finish / Start Weigh In: 6.9g /2 Month Progress : 6.7g / 4 Month Progress: 6.2g / Finished Mid-May

I was super happy to finish this up although I do feel like it was a little bit cheated as the last time I sharpened it all the remaining product just fell out and it was impossible to try and use. Nice colour was easy to wear with most looks and once I concentrated on using it regularly it was an easy finish.

Cycling In

MAC Blush – Seduced At Sea
Goal: Use 1g / July Introduction Weigh In: 29.45g

As my Makeup Geek blush is so close to the end, within days of being in my empties I decided I should get another one ready to go. I was originally opting for another blush but when I went to look at my blushes I settled on this one as I think it’s half way between a blush and bronzer and would be good for summer. I’m not sure this will be the best shade for me come autumn and winter again, so I don’t have grand plans with this to finish completely – but I’d like to see what progress I can make on it over the coming months.

Fleur De Force Lip Gloss in Written in the Stars
Goal: Finish / July Introduction Weigh In: 12.64g

This is old. Very old. It’s still good and I enjoy the formula still – it’s a pigmented My Lips But Better shade sitting on the rosey brown end and looks good with most looks. The formula of this is lovely and very non-sticky but it’s time to admit that it’s time to use this up and say bye to it as it’s about 6 years old I’d guess and hasn’t been made in years!

Violet Voss Highlight Trio
Goal: Use 3g of Product / July Introduction Weigh In: 87.01g

I was choosing between a few different highlighters to use and I decided on this Violet Voss Highlight palette as it gives me some variety in choice. I’ve only used this a handful of times so don’t know which shades I like most, but I’d like to think I could hit pan on one of these by the end of the year at least. I’m trying to use up chunky products in my collection and a palette of highlighters would certainly free up some space in my drawers.

Anyone doing Project Pan projects, let me know how your progress is going in the comments.

Making lots of good progress, can’t wait to see how much of the California Love palette is done by the end of the year. I remember people talking about how good Fleur De Force’s glosses were, would have been nice to try them but I entered the blogging/beauty Youtuber game a bit later. I still love your empties posts! x

I’ll be interested to see how much of the california love does manage to get finished, i do think once that top left supershock colour gets finished off, i’ll be less likely to dig it out – but it does show how much you can use if you do stick to a product fairly religiously. but the natasha denona bronze palette i picked up to replace it is like the nicer version of this for me – more metallics etc, I think I’d be able to hit pan on more of the shades in that one.
Aww thank you – they take ages to write up but they don’t seem to get much engagement any more so I wonder how much people are enjoying them. I probably will bring them back but while i’m strapped for time at the moment i’m going to let them go for a few months!

Ooh the Bronze palette is a pretty one! Palettes with plenty of metallics are my jam too!

Fair enough re the empties posts. The blogospehere has certainly quietened down a lot since Covid.

yeah it’s beautiful, it blends so well too, I can do a lovely eye look in about 2 minutes using 3 of the shades it’s such a dream to work with! Once winter strikes here again and we’re probably in another lockdown and i can’t do anything else the empties will be back hahah!
