I’ve been spending a lot of my spare time and money on new pieces of furniture and decorating within the house. I’ve been starting to wear makeup more again, I find sometimes the routine of getting ready can help mentally prepare me for the day, and I’ve been enjoying the creativity of makeup again. So as Black Friday sales started to creep in mid-November I decided it was time to stock up on a few essentials and also treat my makeup bag to a few things to refresh with some new bits to try!
Colourpop x Raw Beauty Kristi In Forest Sight Eyeshadow Palette
If you follow me on Instagram you’ll have seen I was really excited about the release of this palette, Kristi is one on of the few Beauty Youtubers I am still subscribed to and this colours-tory was so up my street. I stayed restrained and decided to just pick up one thing from Colourpop in my order – which was an achievement as I think it’s been over a year since I last ordered. This strangely reminds me a little of the Jeffree Star Androgyny palette but with more interesting metallic shades – it’s one of the reasons I barely dig that palette out any more. This palette gets my creative juices flowing and I feel really inspired by all the different colours in this to play and experiment. One of my most used palettes for travel is the Colourpop California Love palette and I envision if we ever are allowed to go anywhere again, that this could become another firm favourite.
Sample Beauty Pigments
I’ve heard great things about Sample Beauty and I must admit, I was seriously debating picking up one of their palettes – I then looked at their pigments and decided these would be a nice way to try the brand. The first shade I picked up was “Chlo” a pretty sparkly warm taupe with gold glitter running through – it looked pretty online, but it’s even prettier in person the gold glitter is such a shiny-foily gold I think this is going to look super pretty on the lids. The other shade Angelic is a white glitter which has a real icy feel to it in swatches, I’m a sucker for things that are white and sparkly and finding eyeshadows (and nail polishes) in this kind of finish is really difficult so I’m excited to give it a try.
Jouer High Coverage Foundation
I’ve been meaning to re-review this – in my first review I wasn’t sure whether I’d love it long term, but it’s been my most repurchased foundation over the past few years. It’s pretty pricey, so I always try and wait until it’s on sale – whilst I’m not wearing foundation every time I’m putting on makeup, I thought it was worth stocking up whilst it was 30% off (it’s normally £34 for a 20ml bottle) as I am beginning to get low. To be honest this colour isn’t the best for me at the moment, I always grab the shade Pebble but I’m finding it a little pale – I suspected though in the next few months when I do open it up. One thing I’m glad to see is that they’ve changed the outer packaging for this which used to be excessively bulky – I’m glad they’ve slimmed it down!
Beauty Bay Liquid Crystal Shadows
Only one of these is for me – the shade Amethyst, I saw it swatched in a Beauty Bay haul on Youtube and really liked the look of the shade and how well it swatched, so I decided to give one a try. Before lockdown 2.0 my sister came and stayed with me for the weekend and ended up playing with my Stila Magnificent Metals and liked them – so I picked her one up as a surprise in the shade “Rutile” which was a pretty sparkly taupe neutral (in fact I bet it would make a great base for that Sample Beauty Pigment!). These are really well reviewed and come in a damn sight cheaper than the Stila ones so I hope that these perform as well as my holy grail eyeshadows! Some of my Stila shades are starting to get close to empty, so it would be good to find a cheaper alternative for when I need to replace those.
Beauty Bay Soothe Paste Blemish Treatment & Super Jelly Cleansing Gel
I’ve been intrigued about Beauty Bay’s own brand skincare since it launched. I have been getting a few blemishes recently – I actually think the moisturiser I’m trying to finish might be a bit heavy for my skin and may be the cause – so I picked this up the Soothe Paste Blemish Treatment to try and help calm them down. Again, another own brand product with great reviews so fingers crossed it works well but at the price point I’ll barely be able to complain. I have bought a fair few cleansers recently and I’ve been wanting to do another comparison of some high to low budget cleansers like I have previously – I wanted something at a very low price point and this seemed perfect and another good way to try the own brand skincare line.
Swatches: Liquid Crystal in Amethyst, Sample Beauty Pigments in Clo and Angelic
And I think that’s my beauty shopping done this side of Christmas – the only thing I could be tempted by is a spectacular deal on the Natasha Denona Bronze palette which has been on my wish list since it launched and I’ve only been further convinced since using the Love palette regularly!
