The penultimate in my lockdown empties clear out is all things body care – I mentioned in my haircare post that I was washing my hair a lot out of boredom at the beginning and as a result I’ve also finished up a lot of shower gels.
M&S Skyn Iceland Limited Edition Lip Balm
Loved this it had a menthol effect that reminded me of Carmex which I found did a good job of soothing sore lips. The squeezy tube was good for on the go.
Repurchase? No it was a limited edition product only available in the M&S Beauty Advent Calendar, but I did enjoy using it.
L’Occitane Shea Butter Shea Butter 8ml
I’ve had this for a long time, longer than I should have (guess, 6 years?!). As the weather started warming up my lips started freaking out and I decided to finish this up.
Repurchase? No, L’Occitane are not CF but also it was very overpriced for what it was.
Carmex Cherry Pot
I went and paid over the odds for this at the local co op because my lips were suffering badly and I needed some trusty carmex! Sadly, it ended up in a pocket and went through the wash meaning most of it leaked out, and the rest smelt like washing powder so I decided to ditch it!
Repurchase? Yes, if I can promise myself not to leave it in a pocket again!
Carex Hand Wash Refill
I’m sure we’ve been through more handsoaps in the past 6 months than 2 – maybe Ben has been throwing them before I’ve noticed. We’ve opted for these refills a few times – to be honest, it seems to save very little plastic – just the pump, but sometimes it’s all we’ve been able to get hold of. The Carex line is basic and fine.
Repurchase? Yes – most of the soaps we’ve got dotted around are Carex ones.
Scottish Fine Soaps Pink Pepper Hand Soap
I picked this up on my last trip to the mothership (aka TK Maxx) – I really liked the scent of this, it was about half the price of buying it directly from Scottish Fine Soaps and didn’t feel like your average “basic soap”. I’d pick it up again if I saw it in TK maxx but wouldn’t go out of my way to track it down.
Repurchase? Yes, if seen
M&S Iris Bath Essence
I’ve had this for years and surprised that I managed to finish this. I’m not big on baths but during lockdown I’ve been suffering with quite a bad back from working and sitting on uncomfortable chairs, so I’ve been enduring the stewing in a bath more often than usual. This gave a nice level of foam in the bath which lasted a decent amount of time. The was nice – I believe they no longer do the Iris scent.
Repurchase? Would happily pick up another from M&S but as mentioned I think this scent has been canned.
Roques Oneil Therapie Detox Salts 100g
In a bid to help the aching back I decided to crack out these bath salts I’ve had for years from a beauty box. These are pretty pricey compared to your average run of the mill salt and to be honest I found that they did nothing for me, I’m no expert on bath salts to say whether it was just me, or whether these were truly rubbish. Either way, I wouldn’t splash my cash on them.
Sephora Coconut Bath Fizzer & NSPA Bath Fizzer
Another thing I was attempting to use up whilst I was in a bath streak was these. The Sephora was a small bath fizzer that offered no colour, just a light coconut scent. Virtually pointless IMHO.
The Nspa one offered a deep teal coloured bath bomb and a nice scent. It struggled towards the end to break down – although I know it’s been in my cupboard for a little while as it was a gift one christmas from a friend.
Repurchase? Both are discontinued but I wouldn’t have recommended either.
M&S Lifeology Shower Me In Smiles
I finished this right near the start of lockdown, I used to put this in my guest room for my inlaws to use when they came over but decided to finish it up as I was fed up of seeing it kicking around. This was okay, the scent was nothing special and neither was the formula.
Repurchase? No – but also M&S have revamped the lifeology range and this is no longer a scent part of it.
Yope Linden Natural Shower Gel
I picked this up from Homesense when I went back in March and it’s been my go to shower gel for most of the time – I have learned I use way way way less shower gel when it’s in a pump – I intended to keep a hold of this bottle and refill it but I threw it in the recycling after taking these photos without thinking. The scent of this was okay – but considering it took me so long to use up it wasn’t my favourite it was a very light floral scent.
Repurchase? I’d try other Yope ones but I wouldn’t go out of my way for them – I would purchase from TK Maxx/Homesense again though.
H2K Shower Gel
A small sample taken from the hotel on our last trip away, I can’t remember if I liked this or not it was so long ago and only had a few uses from it – H2K is a genuine bodycare brand rather than something generic for hotels.
Original Source Water Infusions Pineapple and Lemon
I liked this the scent was a lot less intense than a lot of the original source shower gels and it was nice to have something fruity and lighter – rather than the whack in the face most of their fragrances are.
Repurchase? Yes probably.
The Body Shop Early Harvest Raspberry Body Scrub
Quite possibly my all time favourite product from The Body Shop and I believe they may have discontinued the early harvest raspberry line – their website no longer has products listed. I bloody loved this, the scrub was seed based so it had a good level os scrubbiness that didn’t break down easily but not being too harsh.
Repurchase? I would love to, tried to get some in my local outlet in the past few weeks and they don’t have it either… I had to settle for a ginger one instead.
The Body Shop Juicy Pear Hand Cream
I was given this by a friend at Christmas and at the start of lockdown when I was a little bit hand sanitizer crazy this was in my bag at all times to counterbalance all the dryness given. I liked the scent of this, but I believe it was from their Christmas collection last year. I would keep an eye out for it in future though – the shower gel I bet would be lovely in this scent!
Repurchase? I like the body shop hand creams, so I’d pick up pretty much any scent by them!
Marvis Strong Mint Toothpaste
I picked this up in a bid to try and move as much as I can CF, including things like toothpaste – though lockdown put a spanner in the works for easily sourcing it so have been back on normal brands the past few months. I wanted to mention this as I loved it, the taste was perfect and didn’t have a hint of aniseed I’m finding increasingly annoying in many other toothpastes – if you’re on the look out for a CF totally recommend this one.
Repurchase? Yes, I will do!
FFS Shave Cream & FFS Shave Scrub (Gifted)
I was gifted a Christmas gift set by the brand and managed to finish up two of the items inside. The Scrub I loved using but found with my long 5ft 11 legs I went through it very quickly – when I set up my subscription for the razor heads a few months ago I wanted to add this to my subscription but it was out of stock… note to self, get that added.
The shave cream was great and I’ve been working through a second one of these – I’ve stopped using shave creams in recent years as I find the foaming ones which are readily available annoying to use, but this didn’t disappoint.
Repurchase? Already have on the shave cream and I’d like to repurchase the scrub!
Mitchum Ultimate Gel Deodorant
I really don’t like the gel one – whilst it works well it flicks everywhere when you take the cap off. Ben purchased this for me by mistake thinking it was the right one.
Repurchase? I’ll probably end up with it again at some point!
Mitchum Ultimate Cream Deodorant
Fave deodorant ever, this is always the one I grab by choice. Most effective by far.
Repurchase? Yes times a million.
Sure Sport Strength Deodorant
One of the brands of choice if I can’t get a hold of Mitchum – I haven’t tried the Sports Strength one before and found it as effective as Mitchum. The scent wasn’t as nice and I did run through it a little quicker than Mitchum, so it won’t replace it as my favourite but I’ll happily pick it up again in future as a substitute.
