January & February Favourites

January & February Favourites

I didn’t end up doing a yearly favourites at the end of last year – I think because particularly towards the end of the year I was maybe feeling like there weren’t as many stand out products I was using that sparked my memory for others I’d loved. I’ve noticed over the past couple of months there have been a few products which I’ve found myself reaching for some old goodies over and over again – as well as some new things that have impressed me! So let’s get into those January & February Favourites…

Fragrance

Calvin Klein Eternity Moment
Eternity Moment has been in my collection since I was about 15, there’s been an odd moment I’ve not had it in my fragrance arsenal – but it’s one I think I’ll go back to forever. It’s a fragrance that I normally gravitate towards in Spring – but I’ve found it’s tall bottle shape sticking out amongst the others has kept drawing my eye to it. I’ve been loving wearing this over the past few months and have been getting lots of compliments on it too. It’s a fairly inexpensive perfume but has long staying power and one I think I’ll love forever.

Hair

IGX Charcoal Dry Shampoo
This is something fairly new to me, but I’ve wanted to try it for ages. I’ve heard this was the best of the best of dry shampoos, but I’ve never seen it in person – whilst we were away for my birthday I spotted a mini of it in Space NK. So far, it’s bloody brilliant and has been working wonders when my hair needs a freshen up. I’m planning on trying it out a bit more and will post a full review of this soon! It’s a little on the pricey side but I only really now use dry shampoo occasionally rather than inbetween every other day for work – so I don’t mind spending a bit more knowing I don’t have to purchase as often.

Skincare

Beauty Pie Qi Energy Eye Cream (Review Here)
I finished the Beauty Pie Uber Youth eye cream in January and swapped it out for this. I’ve been feeling really tired lately and this has been keeping dark circles and tired looking eyes at bay. The Beauty Pie skincare is some of the best I’ve tried in recent years and their eye creams have been no disappointment. I’ve recommended this to a few people recently and have had no complaints of it being a bad recommendation yet!

Drunk Elephant Slaai Cleansing Butter (Review Here)
I put this in my spring use up list and the regular use has made me fall back in love with it completely. I turn to it mostly when I want to remove makeup as it makes such light work of melting off every drop of full coverage foundation, bright eyeshadow and super black mascara on my face. I’ve got approximately a quarter of this left and I’m coveting every last drop of it, as I’ve got so many cleansers in my cupboard to try, I won’t be repurchasing any time soon!

Pixi Glow Mist [Gifted]
I have a review of some new to me Pixi items pending – including this. This is probably my favourite mist from them yet, I use this through the day working at home to rehydrate my skin and give me a pick me up. I love the scent and I find the addition of Argan Oil particularly nourishing. When it dries down on the skin – I don’t find it leaves any residue behind but my skin laps up all the goodness.

Makeup

Jeffree Star Thirsty Eyeshadow Palette
I got this for my birthday last year, and I’ve not got around to reviewing it just yet. I wore this a fair bit last year but have pulled it out a few times over the past few weeks and have been absolutely loving the sparkly eye shadows in this palette, they very much remind me of Magnificent Metals from Stila in pressed form and look so pretty on the eyes. Alternatively I’ve been using the neutral mattes with my Stila shadows as I’ve been trying to finish up a couple. I’ve been using mostly the neutral shades so far, but really need to dip into those pretty blues and corals! This palette has just been discontinued, so if you see it and you’ve been interested grab it. Grab. It. Now.

L.A. Girl Pro Coverage Foundation
Another product that was in my Spring use up list, and I am scraping the barrel with an eyeshadow brush now – the pump can’t get any more product up! This was given to me by my friend Lora who found it too dark, and as I’ve been trying to finish it up – I’ve actually fell in love with the formula! This is by far the best foundation under a tenner that has worked and lasted on my oily skin, so much so that I think I will end up repurchasing it once finished. This foundation does have a stench, which is it’s one downside, but I’ve used it enough that I think I barely notice it any more! Highly recommended if you want a budget friendly high coverage foundation that looks natural on the skin.

As I’m on a low buy – and feeling very motivated by it (I’ve spent £13 out of my £250 for the year so far), it’s been great to find products in my collection that can still be favourites in some cases years on from originally owning them! A definite spur on to keep digging into my collection to see what else I uncover!

What products have you been loving at the start of this year?

Going to look up Calvin Klein Eternity Moment right after this, I don’t need any more fragrances at the moment though 😂 how does the Drunk Elephant balm compared to similar products you’ve used in the past? The Pixi glow mist sounds lovely! That Jeffree Star palette looks really fun, would love to read a review if you have one planned xx

It reminds me quite a bit of the Double cleanse from Pixi, but because you only get half a pot of the balm oil and the other half is a cream – it’s not like it’s entirely the same – but the balm sides are as effective as each other IMO.
I love the Eternity Moment as it’s nice by itself but also compliments other fragrances quite well and layers well with other perfumes 😀
I do want to do a review of the Thirsty Palette still, need to start remembering to take pictures of it when I’ve used it on my eyes!

The little scoop looks useful too! I definitely liked the sound of Eternity Moment when I looked it up, if I see a tester in a shop I’ll give it a try x

I loved the scoop when I first got it but I barely use it now – I always wash my hands before I start cleansing when I use my hands so I’m going in with clean fingers anyway!

Ahh ok. I use fingers with the cleansing balms I’ve tried too x

Interesting the LA Girl foundation works on oily skin. I’m oily/combo so I got their Pro Matte foundation instead as I thought the Pro Coverage would make me look greasy. I do like the Pro Matte but I may have to try the other once I use what I have up.

Yeah Pro Coverage works great for me! It’s got a quite satiny finish but once it’s set it looks pretty natural – I wore it for 12 hours yesterday and it hadn’t moved at all. I didn’t know they did a Matte version, I’ll have to look that one up, maybe I’ll try that one next and compare! Does the Matte one also have a smell?

The Jeffree Star palette sounds so good, I like the sound of the shimmer shades. I don’t have any from his collections but they always sound like they’re a nice formula. I love the Pixi Glow Mist too, it’s a great refreshing spray that also helps my skin. I have a couple of perfumes that I always have in my collection too, I find it comforting to have them to go back to as well as just liking the scent.

The Jeffree palettes are lovely – some of the fomulas can be different one palette to another, but I haven’t had one from his line that I haven’t enjoyed yet!

It’s nice to have that signature scent you always go back to! I haven’t tried the KC one here but I will have smell it in store. I always go back to Lise Watier Désirable, I’ve been wearing it for the last decade.

I actually haven’t heard of Beauty Pie so I’m going to check them out! I desperately need a new eye cream right now, winter has ruined my skin. Thanks for your recommendations! x

We can’t get Lise Watier here but I’ve always heard it’s been one of those classic brands for you!

Beauty Pie is a bit of an odd set up to get your head around to start with, I have some older posts which explain if needed haha! xx

I’ll need to check out those posts, thanks!

I don’t think I’ve actually smelt that CK fragrance before – might have to give it a whiff next time I’m in a beauty shop! High up on my to-buy fragrance list is Chanel’s Chance which I may potentially treat myself to this year (finally).

I have been really loving the IT Cosmetics Cleansing Balm…it has really impressed me and I just love how easy it is to swipe. Just so hassle-free and the product just melts into your skin. Brilliant. Their eye cream has also been serving me well too.

For makeup, I’ve been really enjoying the NYX butter glosses actually. They’re not necessarily long-lasting which is what I expect from a gloss anyway, but I do really like the effect.

Chanel Chance I used a lot when I was a teenager, but I’ve not owned it since. I love the CK one it’s very floral and wears nicely by it’s own but I love pairing it with other fragrances too.

Ooh interesting, I don’t think I’ve even thought to look at It Cosmetics skincare – I’ve only had a sample of their CC cream!

I have a butter gloss that I’ve et to try, I’ve not been into glosses for very long, I’ve always been more of a lipstick girl!

It’s funny how scents take you back to a time! Mine growing up was Vera Wang’s Princess and Marc Jacob’s Daisy. 🙂

I used to be a huge Daisy fan, I’m now allergic to Marc Jacobs perfumes though they break me out into a rash, but when I notice a friend wearing it it takes me right back!
