Well hello everyone! I didn’t intend to take such a long break over December and into January, but my mind really needed a good break, so I decided to let myself have some breathing space. I’m back today with another one of my seasonal projects, having picked out some items from my collection I’d like to see finished up in the early part of this year. I did a big stocktake of all my skincare and makeup (more on that another day) and my goal this year is to definitely continue to use things up completely. So here are the Eight Products I Love, But I Want To Finish Up this season.
LA Girl Pro Coverage Foundation
Estimated : 1/2 Left
My friend Lora gave me this foundation, I believe it might have been too dark for her rather than her not necessarily liking it – although I may be wrong! Whenever I wear this foundation and I do instagram stories I always get questions what foundation I’m wearing as the foundation looks so nice, and it really does. The finish of this is beautiful, high coverage but buildable so it doesn’t feel cakey. It has a matte but not flat finish so there’s still a slight sheen to the skin making it look natural rather than a mask. The one thing that lets this foundation down is its smell, it smells of industrial cleaner – I have no idea why. I will use it up as it does look so good, but I’m not sure if I could stomach re-buying it because of the smell!
WetNWild Megaglo Highlighter
Estimated : 1/3 Left
This featured in my Autumn edition of this post, I was trying to finish up two highlighters at the same time and did say I’m not sure that I will manage both. I concentrated on the one in my Urban Decay Contour palette most as I wanted to declutter the whole palette, so whilst this did get use on days I wanted something more intense than the UD, this didn’t get picked up as often as the other. Now I have finished that one up, I think this will be a much easier product to finish and I’m going to try and not reach for another highlighter until this is complete. This is one of the nicest highlighters I’ve ever used and it’s probably the cheapest too, I will be sad to see it finished up, but my aforementioned stocktake I really will have something similar.
Stila Rose Gold Retro & Kitten Karma Magnificent Metals
Estimated : Rose Gold Retro – 2-3 Uses, Kitten Karma 10 Uses
The Rose Gold Retro colour was one that also featured in my previous empties, I think I’ve maybe got another use or three left in it. Kitten Karma is definitely my most used Magnificent Metals shade – I have two minis of this and I’m still making my way through the first! I did use these quite a bit over Christmas and it did reignite my love for them again and reminded me what a quick and easy product they are to use, it would nice to see a couple of them completely finished up.
Colourpop Lumiere Lippiestix
Estimated : 3/4 Left
This was another product which I had in my last “to finish up” list, I used it a few times but it quickly got lost in a handbag – I’d actually thought that I had managed to lose it completely until the end of December when I pulled out a clutch bag and found it tucked inside! This is a great every day pink shade, the lippestix formula is lovely and easy to apply on the go. I did however find another shade of this formula in my collection which was only 9 months old completely covered in mould, so it’s a formula which can turn quickly, so I want to make sure I get as much use of this that I can.
Drunk Elephant Slaai Cleansing Butter
Estimated : 4/5 Left
I reviewed this back in August alongside two other cheaper cleansers and whilst it’s been sinkside in my ensuite, I was finishing up others and this fell to the back unless I had really heavy makeup on. This is an excellent oily cleansing balm a little of which really does go a long way. I have used this a fair bit over the last few months, but all I’m left with is a valley like carve through the middle of the balm. I’ve finished all other cleansers that I had out in my ensuite, so this should now be the cleanser that I use for about 50% of the week when I don’t cleanse in the shower.
Drunk Elephant Framboos Night Serum
Estimated : 3/4 Left
This was product I was gifted in a set last Christmas, and whilst I used it enough to test it and see that I liked it, new things came in to test and this kind of fell to the back of my bedside cabinet. I am currently flicking between this and the Pixi Glycolic one on a weekly basis to see which I think is more effective as I do like both, but there’s a massive price difference between the two (I’ll report back in with that during empties… hopefully!). It’s an expensive serum, and for that reason it would just be nice to see that it did get finished up.
Beauty Pie Uber Youth Eye Cream
Estimated : 1/3 Left
I picked up all the eye creams available from Beauty Pie which I compared in a review and this is the one which ended up staying on my bedside table. It was the one I had the longest, so it was closest to being finished up – I’d estimate that I’ve used up around two thirds of it now. It’s a good every day eye cream good for adding hydration to the skin, but I don’t need to be worried about not having other eye creams in my arsenal to replace it with since I have many already open from testing that I’m eager to get onto.
Origins Rose Clay Face Mask
Estimated : 1/2 Left
Last but by no means least is this mask from Origins [previously gifted from Marks and Spencer]. This has become one of my favourite masks, I find it’s great at getting my skin under control when it goes really oily and seems to draw out sebum well, but it also lightly exfoliates with small grainy like texture so when rinsed off it leaves the skin with a plumped up glow. It’s a product I’d like to see finished just so I know it doesn’t have chance to go bad – but I have a lot of other clay masks in my cupboard too, so it’s another one I don’t have to worry about needing a similar replacement for when finished.
Have you tried any of these products before? What are you trying to use up at the moment? Let me know in the comments!

It’s so satisfying when we use up our products, isn’t it? I’m planning a project pan for this year, too. Good Luck!

There’s nothing like the feeling of finally finishing up a product which has taken you ages! I was debating whether to do a project pan alongside my seasonal use ups, but I think my goal is to actually review all the eyeshadow palettes that I haven’t managed to yet!
I’m trying to get through an Origins mask right now too, I appreciate that they last long because that’s great value for money, but as a mask junkie I’m looking forward to getting to some of the others I have stashed!

It’s such hard work to finish up a full size mask! I finished up a Kiehl’s one last year and it must have been used around 60 times. I just did a stock take and I have a lot of masks to finish up – I’ve got a bunch still unopened but want to make sure I can finish up a few older ones first!
That’s the thing with masks – if they are in a big tube you don’t want to have too many going in case they dry out!
Such a shame about the scent on the LA Girl foundation, it must be a real let down! The Origins mask sounds lovely, does it have a strong rose scent?

It does have a fairly noticeable scent but it’s fairly natural – it doesn’t smell like a sickly fake rose scent. I think I must be starting to acclimatise on the LA Girl foundation a little I used it this morning and didn’t actually notice the scent!
Does shaking the bottle of foundation every once in a while to mix it make a difference to the scent?
Author
It’s such a thick cream I don’t think it would shake up that well, but maybe it is when it’s just been sat and not travelling in a makeup bag
I started doing a huge de-clutter of my lipsticks – some of which are old colourpop lippie stix that started to go off!
