At some point Pixi were bound to expand upon their popular skincare item, Glow Tonic. It’s been a cult product in the beauty world for almost as long as I can remember and earlier in the year I was sent some items from their collection that expanded upon the celebrated glycolic formula, as well as other products which complimented these – so this is the Pixi Glow Collection.
As always the Pixi Glow Collection products have been well and truly road tested and some of which have already been finished off too.
Pixi Glow Tonic
We’d better start with the product that started it all with it’s fair share of imitators I have to say nothing has come close to the original for me. I shall not talk too in depth on this, as I’m sure if you’ve wanted to try it by now you probably have and I’ve spoken about it a good few times before. I was please to be gifted a smaller sized bottle of this as I have a mega sized bottle, a normal sized bottle and now this mini will be perfect for longer trips away without being huge. This is a glycolic toner that does a great job of chemically exfoliating the skin whilst being balanced with aloe to moisturise. It’s not the strongest glycolic on the market, but I prefer that – stronger ones have left my skin feeling sore but this has proved a long standing favourite that’s good for every day. Worth a whirl.
Pixi Glow Tonic Cleansing Gel
This has been the product that I put to the test first, and it’s also the one I finished up first. I say this every time I come around to reviewing gel cleansers and that’s that traditionally they’re not my favourite, I popped this one into the shower and it’s the one I’ve tended to be reaching for as part of my daily cleanse.
The gel formula on this is pretty thin and not sticky feeling and it massages onto clean skin well, it doesn’t lather up but it has that quite clinical scent that is familiar with a lot of gel cleansers. This feels nice on the skin and leaves the complexion feeling refreshed if used on makeup free skin. I do find that I do need to pair this with another cleanser if I’m trying to remove makeup as it’s not the best formula.
For me, I do have to say I don’t really think that this did too much to my skin – when I compare this to the original toner, I can tell instantly what that does for my skin. This one didn’t offer any particularly noticeable difference for me and there’s definitely other cleansers I’ve enjoyed more, however I’ve read and heard reviews of this where others have really noticed a difference. I’d say if you’re a gel cleanser lover and you’re a fan of glow tonic then it’s certainly worth a try, it lasted me about 2 months using once a day in the shower so it went a long way too.
Pixi On the Glow Moisture Stick
This is a really different type of product for me and one I’ve really been enjoying for makeup free, at home days. This is a solid stick moisturiser, that twists up and adds a real balmy glow to the skin. This is a multi-use product that’s very travel friendly and can use used on the hair, lips, face and body. I tend to use it most across my cheekbones.
This contains a main ingredient trio of you’ve guessed it; Glycolic Acid to exfoliate, renew and moisturise; Ginseng to revitalise and balance and Vitamin B12 which is an anti-oxidant.
Whilst my dry friended pals would probably like this for adding glow to makeup free days out of the house I do find especially when it’s been hot it’s often made my skin look a little too greasy as the day has gone on. It’s fine for me being at home when I want skincare and to feel radiant at the same time, but it’s just a little too much for me to leave the house wearing.
The twist up cap makes it very friendly for travel and hygienic to use on the go as you don’t have to get fingers involved and you can quickly refresh your complexion.
Pixi pHenomenal Gel Moisturiser
Unlike the Glow to Go, the pHenomenal Gel Moisturiser is very oily skin friendly – I love gel creme textures and this is one of my ultimate faves, it has a silky, luxurious feeling that sinks in quickly and has a slight cooling effect. This moisturiser is meant to be neutralising to the skin and helps balance oiliness – I have to say I’ve noticed a huge difference to my skin since this became my nightly moisturiser, my t-zone gets far less oily and my foundation lasts a lot better through the day.
The ingredients of this are moisturising and watery; cucumber, citric acid, glycerins and aloe are all products featured through this formula which explains it’s easy absorbed and cooling texture.
The second thing I like about this is that it plays really nicely with other products too. The card this came with gave a hint of dropping other serums into this, which I did with the serum below – and it’s lighter formula means that it creates a nice light formula that swipes across the skin with ease.
Pixi Glow Tonic Serum
I go through mixed phases with serums and it all depends on me having something that’s easily absorbed and my skin seems to lap up. Serums for me should offer a noticeable effect alongside moisturisers and toners, I don’t like serums where I feel like I’ve spent a pretty penny and there’s been little or no difference in my complexion almost instantly.
This has a gel formula that’s thin and absorbed quickly, I’ve mostly used this in combination with the gel moisturiser above of which I adore the combo, but I’ve also trialled it on it’s own and whilst it has a very, very slight tackiness to it it does sink in easily still.
The bottle is a great little size, not too big and it’s dropper makes it easy to only dispense the couple of drops that are needed as this packs a punch. Whilst this contains glycolic I’ve found that offers an instant boost for a brighter complexion rather than it being notable for exfoliating, I do find it also adds a bit of additional moisture into the skin too.
It’s a great all round moisturiser and one my skin laps up. I’ll guess that I might have used the third of the bottle up through the last few months so it does go a fairly long way if used sparingly as instructed with the drops needed.
And that’s all – five great additions from Pixi and I’ve enjoyed using them all! The one item from the collection I would likely not repurchase would be the cleanser as it’s not most suited to my skin type and there’s other cleansers I like from Pixi which I prefer, however I would still use it if I was back in my collection, and I do recommend it for people who love gel cleansers, the formula does seem lovely! There’s one thing that remains true, Pixi is the brand to deliver healthy, nourished glow for you complexion, get glowing girl.
