Project Pan 2021 : 4 Month Progress Update

Project Pan 2021 : 4 Month Progress Update

I thought we’d do a little progress review of my 2021 Project Pan and see how I’ve been getting on after now finishing four months. I’ve used a lot of these products exclusively since beginning this project – there’s been some great progress, and there are also a few items that are still falling to the back of the pile.

Makeup Geek Heart Throb Blush
Goal: Finish / Start Weigh In: 35.0g / 2 Month Progress : 34.4g / 4 Month Progress: 33.9g

I feel like I can see more significant progress over the past two months of panning than I could in the second – this is starting to get to the awkward stage of smushing the brush around the edge of the pan but the powder is very soft so I don’t feel like I’m destroying my brushes as this picks up pretty easily. I will miss this once it’s finished off I like the dinky size of this – but I suspect I may be able to complete by month 6 as It might get to the stage where it starts crumbling a little as the edge gets thinner and thinner.

RMCA No Colour Powder
Goal: Finish / Start Weigh In: 96.2g / 2 Month Progress : 88.1g / 4 Month Progress: 75.9g

There’s absolutely no way I will finish this this year – I use it every single time I do my makeup and use a good chunk of it and every week I kind of resettle the powder and I’m like – there is barely any difference still. I will be surprised if I get to half way this year. Luckily I do enjoy this powder and don’t mind it’s going to stick around and be used for a good while and the size of it makes it very affordable.

Smashbox Studio Skin Full Coverage Foundation
Goal: Use 10g of Product / Start Weigh In: 37.7g/ 2 Month Progress : 37.6g / 4 Month Progress : 37.6g

This is still way too dark for me to use, I’m really hoping for some nice weather so I can start work on this darker foundation, but for now – it sits in my panning drawer ready to be tackled once summer hits!

Stila Magnificent Metals Kitten Karma Minis x 2
Goal: Finish both / Start Weigh In: 32.1g /2 Month Progress 31.7g / 4 Month Progress: 31.4g

I’ve used these a good chunk of times maybe another 10 or so times overall. I thought these would be looking closer to being finished by now. They are still getting used reguarly, but I think they might take me longer to finish than first thought! I have to rehydrate these with setting spray when I use them so I’m not surprised the weight doesn’t fluctuate much between weigh ins, but at least it is decreasing!

Colourpop Glitterati Supershock Shadow
Goal: Finish / Introduced March Weigh In: 12g / 4 Month Progress: 18.00g

Note – start weigh in was obviously noted wrong. This used to be a shadow I enjoyed using regularly but I’m finding the formula very dry over the few times I’ve tried to use it in the past 2 months and find it a little difficult to blend out whilst it still does have good pigmentation. I highly doubt I will finish this by the end of the year as I intended, however, I will keep it in my project and go to it every now and again. It’s also a very cool silvery champagne gold – which I’m much more into warm and colourful tones at the moment, so overall it’s just not my favourite on the eye.

Topshop Lip Crayon in Feather
Goal: Finish / Start Weigh In: 6.9g /2 Month Progress : 6.7g / 4 Month Progress: 6.2g

This should be so much easier than it is to finish up I’m wearing a neutral lip all the time but it seems to keep disappearing into my drawer and not getting used. I really enjoy the colour of this when it’s on I get a lot of compliments on it, particularly with a sheer sparkly gloss on top, they work really well together. I am determined to make better progress on this by the next update and try and have it finished as it should be so quick and easy to do!

Tom Ford Velvet Orchid Perfume
Goal: Finish / Start Weigh In: 164.5g / 2 Month Progress: 158.8g / 4 Month Progress: 152.5g

I’ve used this a good chunk since my last update and I’m regularly holding it up to the light to see where the line of progress is now. However since doing my 2021 Perfume Collection at the start of the month, it’s reminded me of other fragrances I love and I’ve been hopping about more. I feel fairly confident that I will still finish this by the end of the year though, I do use it frequently and isn’t one I consider “seasonal”.

Pixi Vitamin C Caviar Balm
Goal: Finish / Start Weigh In: 38.7g / 2 Month Progress: 37.7g / 4 Month Progress: 36.0g

Another one I just can’t seem to gravitate towards picking up! I even moved this to my bedside table to try and use it more at night and I’m just not reaching for it! I’m thinking about setting myself a skincare schedule and maybe if I do I can put this in once or twice a week to try and make some progress on it.

Freeman’s Apple Cider Vinegar Clay Face Mask
Goal: Finish / Start Weigh In: 181.5g / 2 Month Progress : 176.4g / 4 Month Progress: 171.9g

Again, only used this a few times – I’m swapping between 2 different clay masks and the other from Elemis catches my eye more often, however that one is close to empty, so I may see more progress on this one soon if I can get that one finished off. It’s a giant tube and I think finishing this by the end of the year would be pretty impressive, but I’m still determined to try and give it a good go.

OZ Naturals Ancient Orient Rice Enzyme Dermafoliant
Goal: Finish / Start Weigh In: 69.8g / 2 Month Progress : 65.0g / 4 Month Progress: 61.3g

Just like the last update, I really don’t remember this exists and rarely use it – I’m thinking even though the product isn’t really suitable to be kept in the shower – I may move it into there as I would use it far more frequently compared to being kept by my sink. When I use this I don’t need to use it all over and try and keep it focused on my chin as it’s pretty aggressive and there’s where I have most clogged pores where this helps with – so I need very little product at once.

Jeffree Star Lip Scrub in Mojito
Goal: Finish / Start Weigh In: 52.5g / 2 Month Progress : 51.0g / 4 Month Progress: 48.2g

I’m still remembering to use this infrequently whilst now you can see “pan” or pot at the bottom I’ve squished out the sides to make it easier to run my finger round the remaining product. I don’t think I use this often enough to be able to finish it, but I’m trying to remember to use it a few times a week! I’d really like to see it gone and finished up!

Target Hit – Keeping In Project

Colourpop California Love Palette
Goal: Use 2g of Product / Start Weigh In: 122.0g /2 Month Progress: 118.8g / 4 Month Progress: 117.2g

I had already hit the progress for this in month 2 and have continued using it a good amount since then and tried out a bunch of the other less used colours in this palette a lot more and they’re not piquing my interest as much. My treat for hitting progress on this was planned to buy the Natasha Denona Bronze palette to replace this – and I have now done that at the end of April.

Since my last update I : Finished the shade Cruisin’ completely, hit pans on the shades Mission and on Diego (and nearly finished it) and can see more steady progress on Gnarly which is becoming difficult to finish up. I think once Diego is finished in this it will be rare that I reach for this palette any more, but it would be nice to see 3 pans finished completely! I do intend to keep this palette in my go-to drawer until the end of the year and see what progress I’ve made by the end of this project pan. But I’m really pleased at how much love it has had – I’ve used 4.8g so over doubled my target!

Completed

Tarte Highlight in Sparkler
Goal: Hit Pan/ Start Weigh In: 46.0g / 2 Month Progress : 43.3g/ 4 Month Progress : Empty

This was virtually brand new when I started it in December in preparation for if I wanted to include it in my project pan – and I can’t believe I managed to complete it in just over 3 months as it got tossed into my empties at the beginning of April. I’ve had highlighters that have taken me a full year to finish and I don’t think I was particularly heavy-handed with this. I really liked it though as it could be built up in intensity and the tone was good for my skintone. I miss it actually and prefer it over my current go-to highlight (more on that in a moment), but I have enough highlighters to keep me going for a year and I’m resisting buying more.

Topshop Makeup Fixing Mist
Goal: Finish / Start Weigh In: 79.0g /2 Month Progress : 52.3g / 4 Month Progress : Empty

This hit my empties in March, so has already been recycled and taken out to the bin! I was pleased to finish this off, I don’t have a massive setting spray collection but as large bottles it’s nice to see that clutter diminishing. This is discontinued as with all Topshop makeup, but it would have been

Cycling In

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Vanilla Quartz
Goal: Hit Pan/ May Introduction Weigh In: 22.9g

On the back of finishing the Tarte Sparkler highlight, I decided to put in a Becca Mini in its place – on the news Becca is going to be a discontinued brand later in the year I thought I’d start making my way through my small Becca stash. On the surface having finished a highlight in just 3 months or so this mini should be easy to finish however I suspect in summer this particular colour may be too light for me, so I may swap in another one over the summer months. It’s been my go-to highlight for a few weeks already however only just weighing it in with the end of the 4-month progression. Not the biggest fan of this formula compared to other Becca ones it seems a little chalky in comparison, but still workable.

Becca Skin Love Setting Spray
Goal: Finish / May Introduction Weigh In: 103.4g

Another Becca product in place of the finished Topshop Setting Mist, I bought this in £10 Boots deal late last year and whilst I’ve been using it as you can already see decent progress – I really could not tell you what I think of this product yet. I’ve been using it with eyeshadows to apply wet as well as a setting spray and I have absolutely no idea as to how I think it performs yet, however, the mister is a lot nicer on this compared to the more clunky one from Topshop.

L’Occitane Intensive Hand Balm [Gifted by M&S]
Goal: Finish / May Introduction Weigh In : 146.3g

I’ve been doing better at working through some hand creams by keeping them on my desk, it’s the only time I seem to use them at the moment. I actually had another one planned to put in my project but it seems to have disappeared at the moment and I can’t find it at all! So this L’Occitane one has been sat on my bedside table for a good couple of years and I have made a chunk of progress on this giant tube, but it would be nice to see it finished off and I think I’ll be able to do that if I put it on my desk.

OPI Avoplex Exfoliating Cuticle Remover
Goal: Finish / May Introduction Weigh In : 23.0g

This is so, so old, they don’t even make this any more! However I am terrible at doing cuticle care so this is another item I’m moving to my desk to try and use up and see if it does help keep those cuticles at bay more and stops me getting the odd hang-nail every now and again. There isn’t much left in here at all but you need dots of it at a time and it goes a long way only needing it on the cuticles, however it would be nice to see this gone – I think it’s almost ten years old (admitted with gritted teeth!)

Well done on all the progress with the California Love palette! I’ve got a mini of Vanilla Quartz too (mine is in different packaging) but I don’t recall the formula being chalky, I’ll take note next time I use it πŸ™‚ I also purchased that Becca mist when I heard they were closing down (I also got my hands on a couple of other Becca items) and I like it. The spray isn’t too wet and intense and it’s a nice setting spray for what I like x

I got the Becca highlight in a set of 4 minis, so maybe there was something a bit off with the quality of those maybe. It’s just slightly chunkier than all the other Becca highlights I’ve used.
I do think the mister on it is quite nice!

I have Prismatic Amethyst as well and because that shade and Vanilla Quartz are lighter in pigmentation they don’t seem as shimmery but they still look pretty when worn!

I’m laughing at your 10 year old cuticle remover, I’m impressed that it still actually works! I tossed what I considered an old Butter London one recently, had it open for 4-5 years πŸ˜‚

I don’t know that it works to be honest, but I put very very little care into my cuticles normally, and you can tell. Something is better than absolutely nothing right?
