I popped into Poundland a few weeks ago to grab a few items and decided to pick up Poundland Nail Polish Scarlett Sparkle – as I hadn’t tried the formula of bargain £1 nail polishes for myself.
In the bottle Scarlett Sparkle looks like a deep cherry red base packed with holographic silver micro-glitter. On the nails it’s a brighter mid-red, and the micro-glitter is less noticeable (probably because the contrast between the colours isn’t as much), but still gives a very pretty look. I’m quite impressed as for something that’s obviously going to be a bit of a standard line, this shade doesn’t feel particularly average. It’s improved something that’s been difficult to capture properly, I think it’s one you need to see in person to see how the glitter catches the light.
You can almost get away with one coat of this shade, it applies very smooth and evenly and although being semi sheer, it would be completely wearable. A second coat brightens the colour slightly and just adds more depth to the glitter. This quotes itself as being Quick Dry, I wouldn’t agree with that at all, I went to bed over an hour after painting and they still weren’t dry, so I had to sleep with my hands dangling out of the bed on the dressing table.
This isn’t particularly glossy in finish and is pictured with a topcoat. Wear time is not the best lasting 2 days before chipping.
The thing that surprises me most about Poundland Nail Polish Scarlett Sparkle is the brush. As soon as I pulled it out I kind of made a weird noise – it’s very short and stubby, it’s not particularly wide, but because it’s so short it makes it feel wider. The brush is an absolute dream to use to apply, it was quick and easy to control.
Have you tried anything from Poundlands line?

Poundland sounds like a fun place! I love dollar store finds. 😀
It’s neat that the brush on this £1 polish is better than some of the expensive ones!
This is really lovely Rachael – very surprised at how good it looks for such a pocket friendly price 🙂 XXX
