October 2015 Empties – Fragrance, Makeup & Nails

I’ve been really lazy about getting my empties up for October, usually they’re up the last day of the month/first day of the next month but I just haven’t found time this week to get it written and scheduled. I know I say this every month, but I genuinely was surprised at just how many empties I had this month – especially after 10 days away from home at the start of the month (and a holiday empties which accompanied that!).

The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Hand Cream

This is by far my favourite Body Shop scent I think, it’s very zesty and sharp – and very strong. A handy size which has happily sat in my handbag for the past month, the only problem with it, was that it was so strong as soon as I used it work, people knew I had used it and they asked to borrow it, so it got used up far quicker than I would have liked!

Repurchase? I have suddenly built up a large hand cream stash and do not need to buy one for a significant time, when I do I’ll go back to body shop though!

Cotton Wool

Sainsburys Boutique Super Strong Cotton Pads

I absolutely love these cotton pads, they are by far the best I have ever used as they don’t ever disintegrate at all – I even wrote a whole blog post dedicated just to these! The trouble is, I think they’ve been discontinued – this reminds me, I need to tweet sainsburys and ask, as I haven’t been able to find them locally – I’d even be willing to travel to get them, that’s how good they are!

Repurchase? If I can yes! A whole box of them!

Boots Botanics Oval Cotton Pads

These were okay, personally I prefer it when each side of the pad is smooth, but these were somewhere between being smooth and fluffy which meant they tended to fall apart over eyelashes a little. They were okay for nails etc, I wouldn’t not repurchase them, but I wouldn’t chase them down like the Sainsbury’s ones!

Repurchase? Maybe

Makeup & NaiLs

My Little Beauty Stylo Lumiere

I was very surprised to see this came in my very first My Little Box back in September last year. Whilst I haven’t used it every day between now and then it’s certainly not been something that has been used infrequently, so it’s done well to last this long. Rather than being fully empty I think it’s now just gone past it’s best, I’ve found it started to settle into tiny pores and not blend very easily. Overall it was an okay product – but I think I would try the L’oreal Lumi Magique ones in future – also you can’t repurchase My Little Beauty Products in the UK!

Repurchase? No

Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara

This was my favourite mascara for a good few years, but a) I currently have a MASSIVE pile of mascaras, I’m talking about 10 to get through, and b) I’ve since fallen in love with products which I like more, Too Faced Better Than Sex – which is also slightly cheaper.

Repurchase? If you give it to me I’d use it, but it wouldn’t be the one I repurchased now.

Models Own Wah Nails Nail Art Pen

I came to do my Beetlejuice inspired nails at Halloween to match my costume – and discovered this had all dried up. I mainly bought this because it had a ball point as well as a brush, which made it easy to do detail work but very quickly the ball end became clogged.

Repurchase? No

Versace Eros Perfume

I signed up to get a sample of this new Versace perfume Eros online. I really regretted it as soon as I sprayed it, this is very citrusy, but in a cleaning product kind of way, not a fresh “Oh I’ve just been chilling in a lemon orchard” kind of way.

Repurchase? Not for me!

Paco Rabanne Olympea

Easily, my new favourite perfume – I’m so glad that I was given a sample of this at the Bloggers Festival as I’d probably never have tried it otherwise, as I don’t normally like Paco Rabanne fragrances and normally avoid them rather than drench myself in them in Boots! It’s a very sweet and feminine fragrance and is exactly the kind of thing I gravitate towards to. It’s also one which people notice on me, even hours after I’ve applied it, so a big thumbs up for that!

Repurchase? Already have

Marc Jacobs Decadence

When I was walking around my local department store a very nice lady asked if I’d like a sample of this. Of course the answer is yes. Unfortuately, my skin really doesn’t like MJ perfumes, but if I spray them on my clothes I can get away with it. This has a very powdery scent – like a Baby Talc – but in a nice way, it’s a very hard scent to describe! Personally I hate the bottle for this, I think it’s tacky!

Repurchase? If I could wear them properly this might have been going on my Christmas list

Have you used any of these before?

Part 2 of my empties is going up tomorrow – so for haircare and skincare come back tomorrow 🙂
