A few years ago, I used to do massive round up black friday posts, post the favourite deals that I was finding and what I was planning to purchase. I’ve not done that for a few years now and I think like many I get a sense of Black Friday fatigue as brands seem to start sales earlier and earlier, Black Friday turns into a whole month of sales and by the time it comes around I’m generally not that interested in browsing. That being said I did have my eye on a few items pre-Black Friday and I was hoping to be able to catch them at a better price, and I did manage to make a mini-ish Black Friday Haul.
Anastasia Beverly Hills – Nouveau Palette
First up in my Black Friday Haul – I won’t lie, this was bought as a last minute deal, after seeing that it was 50% off. I’d seen when this palette came out that it received really good reviews online, I wasn’t interested at all – until on a browse around Selfridges one lunch time at work, I saw it in person and actually gasped when I swatched it. ABH seem to have took a break from their constant release train a few years ago, and seemed to re-concentrate their efforts into better quality releases.
This colour story is a little neutral, it’s not completely warm and it’s not completely cool – there’s an interesting mix of metallics, satin and mattes. I am looking forward to using this as it’s a very unique albeit muted palette in my collection and seeing whether it’s worth the hype of reviews it received.
I wasn’t necessarily fully sold on adding it to my collection when I saw it in person, but at 50% off deal I decided I wanted to go for it, to see what ABH was like quality wise in 2022. I think the last palette I got from the brand may have been the Riviera palette.
Patrick Ta – Major Dimension Rose Palette
I first checked out the Patrick Ta palettes in person whilst I was in New York, and had in mind after swatching them that I wanted to add one to my collection to try. I was really on the fence on whether to get this Rose palette, or the bronze one. However I decided that the bronze palette was close and similar vibes to the Natasha Denona bronze one which is my most used palette, and when I thought about it I didn’t have a fully neutral rose-leaning palette and this would be more unique in my collection.
The metallics in this palette were what particularly drew my eye but the mattes also swatched fantastically. I am really intrigued to use the two cream shadows in here, as quite literally, I never use cream shadows and I’m intrigued to see if I have been missing out! I really like palettes that have great depth light to dark, sometimes I find that palettes tend to lack at one end or the other, but with this I can see it’s a complete look in a palette for me, from crease colour to inner corner highlight and smokey outer edge.
I had in mind on going to New York that I may by one of these in Sephora if I liked them, but the exchange rate was so terrible it was more expensive than the UK full price. When I returned I debated buying it, but decided to wait out for a Black Friday deal and scored 25% off, which made it about £30 cheaper than what it would have been in New York.
Natasha Denona – My Dream Palette
Natasha Denona has become my go-to brand for shadows, I love the formula and have rarely been let down by any of the shades, occasionally there’s a dud shade but overall I tend to like the palette. They tend to be the palettes I travel with and actually when I looked across my collection, this one was pretty unique. I don’t own the Glam palette that is cool toned, and this one felt like it was filling a gap in my mostly, warm toned neutral collection.
I’ve been quite anti-cool toned over the past few years, but having added a small five pan one from Pat Mcgrath to my collection, I found that actually they do suit me more than I thought. One of the reasons I also wanted this was the multichrome shadow in here, which I’ve been tempted to buy single shadows of for ages but they tend to be expensive and I rarely reach for things when they aren’t in a palette – so I’ve been wary. I’m glad to have one in a palette so I can see how much I gravitate towards it.
Before I had chance to write this post, it was my work Christmas party and this arrived the day I was leaving and I decided at first glance, I wanted to take it with me, so I’ve already had a mini test run with this and look forward to going in again!
This was another one I snagged at 25% off too, so bought the price down a fair bit!
And they were my three palette purchases of Black Friday 2022. There was nothing else I snagged in specific Black Friday deals, and anything else I picked up was either Christmas gifts for others. I did have in mind that I wanted to maybe pick up the Billie Eilish perfume, however I couldn’t find a deal on that – so I’ll wait it out until I have some Boots points to spend!
I am absolutely stacked with new palettes to review, I must have bought 10 in the past 2-3 months!
Let me know in the comments if you have tried any of these palettes out yourself, and if you treated yourself to a Black Friday Haul!
Finally catching up on blog posts for the first time in about a month! I can understand why you’re such a big fan of the My Dream palette, the swatches and colours look very pretty and a nice mix of cool and warm tones. The shimmers in the Patrick Ta are stunning too!
