I’m making a serious effort to use up my face mask collection so I can get my hands on some of the newest offerings from the Body Shop. I’ve had the Noxi Doxi Mask & Peel since Spring, arriving in my My Little Box Subscription but I’ve been nervous to try it.
At the time of the Noxi Doxi Mask & Peel arriving in the My Little Box there were pages and pages of comments from fellow subscribers saying that this mask had caused them to have a reaction – so immediately I’ll start by saying if you have sensitive skin I think this is a mask you should stay well clear of.
I don’t know a lot about the brand NoxiDoxi and all the information on the packaging was written in French so I had to go do some digging for myself. It’s a french brand and retails at 24,90 Euros for 50ml, to be used a few times a week – this is half the size so a generously valued deluxe. The Noxi Doxi Mask & Peel described as a scrub and exfoliating mask designed to boost cell energy and improve circulation in the skin, for a complexion which is glowing both inside and out.
You don’t need a lot of this cream, it’s quite a thin (but not so thin it drips) texture, that is packed with small shard like exfoliating beads – which don’t feel the most comfortable on the skin. You don’t have to leave this on for very long at all – 2-5 minutes at most, I left it on for somewhere in the middle of those the first time I used it. Applying it I awaited nervously for the uncomfortable itching that others spoke of, and it never arrived – after a couple of minutes it started to feel almost sightly cooling and tingling.
Rinsing it away I needed a little help from a flannel to properly buff away all of the beads. Drying my face I saw my cheeks were a little pink, but not worryingly so – and placing my hands on my face I was expecting the skin to feel smoother, it didn’t. If anything my skin felt slightly stripped and like it needed some moistur re-injecting back into my skin, going to bed – I dosed up on Kiehl’s Ultra Facial lotion and was hoping in the morning to be greeted with skin that felt smoother and looked as bright as the descriptions online promised. It didn’t.
The redness in my cheeks had reduced back to normal overnight, but my skin still felt stripped still and my complexion wasn’t as glowing as promised, it looked normal but felt worse. I put the mask away for a few months and re-pulled it out this week to re-try it, and sadly the same experience happened again.
Sadly this is a dud for me, it takes a lot for my oily complexion to feel stripped and I can only imagine how it would react with those with dry or normal complexions.
