I’ve been so busy at work the past few weeks, coupled with busy weekends doing new-house-stuff, I’ve barely had chance to tuck my head into TK Maxx to see what I could find, I do have to say – the few times I did venture in – I was highly disappointed. Christmas has taken over the store (which would normally be a good thing) but the beauty department was covered in last year’s gift sets and smashed up makeup. The home sections I found pretty boring and I found the style of most of the Christmasware dated, and not in a nice vintage way!
As a result I only had one successful trip in – and it wasn’t the most exciting, so I thought I’d spice it up with a bit of ASOS too, and it was homeware – so not your average ASOS order.
Kate Spade iPhone 8 Plus Phone Case
RRP £45 // Price £11.99
Kate Spade Cases online are roughly £40-50, and I’ve bought a lot in the past from TK Maxx – but never any at full price. They’re excellent quality and their fun glittery patterns encompass my style completely. I had a current tropical one that I’ve been sporting since July and I was in the mood for something more festive – but not Christmassy, this silver glitter stripes one was a winner.
Dabney Lee iPhone 8 Plus Phone Case
Dabney Lee I’ve seen a fair bit in TK Maxx and if I’m being honest it always seems like a knock off of Kate Spade, it’s a very similar vibe! However I couldn’t resist this case either as it was a fun bronze holo glitter. I love these water cases but normally don’t find them the best quality for ‘dropping’ – so I may keep this on my phone more-so over Christmas and I’m at home more. There’s no store online for this brand to know the RRP price.
Interdesign Metalo Hose Shower Caddy
RRP £24.99 // Price £12.99
Our new ensuite has a really awkward corner shower – the doors slide all the way back, rather than opening in or out which makes storage in there really difficult as nothing fits over the rollers. This seemed perfect as it hangs from the top of the shower hose instead. We’ve had this brand before too and it’s never rusted, which is perfect. Also it’s got razor holders at the bottom, which Ben will be very impressed with!
Furniture Knobs in Cream and Brass
These are no particular brand – I suspect they are TK Maxx own brand. I’ve bought a new vintage dressing table for my “overflow” makeup – e.g not the stuff I want around me every day and I swap in and out. It was a bargain at just £14 – but it needs a bit of love and a revamp. I’m hoping these will work as it’s the first more unique looking knob set I’ve seen that had enough in a pack – it has six drawers. But it will match up perfectly with the metal brass detail which will be staying.
Over Black Friday I decided to get some of the items that I’d been spying and waiting out for for a while whilst there was a discount to be had. I also ordered some Boots (which I’m pretty sure were made about 3 sizes smaller than advertised) and a dress which both went back, so here’s the homeware that stayed.
Sass and Belle Pink Ombre Speckle Pot x 2
Price £8.00 each // Link to Buy
I’ve gone a bit houseplant mad since moving in. So there’s a bit of a theme with these purchases. I bought these hoping that they’d be good for makeup brush holders, but sadly they’re a little too dinky. Either way though I’m still glad I bought them as they’re so pretty in person. One of our bedrooms has bright blue and white bedding and it has neon pink trim – so I’m looking for subtle pink accents to add into that room. Now I just need the plants for the windowsill!
Sass and Belle Blue Hanging Planter
Price £9.00 // Link to Buy // Green one here
This is for our garden room at the back of the house which has been filled on every windowsill with plants already, so now it’s time to hang them from the ceiling. I’m tempted to get a couple of these and create a cluster of plants in a corner – but I’ll see how Ben gets on with putting the first one up. They also had this in a green colour too if pastel blue isn’t your bag.
Lund London Petrol Hanging Planter
Price Was £25 now £10.00 each // Link to Buy
Lots of hanging pots are in pastel colours and I’d not seen anything like this anywhere – it’s a really gorgeous eyecatching dark petrol colour which I think will go perfect in my office. This was heavily discounted down to £10 from £25 and would make a really gorgeous gift for someone whose into their houseplants. Also this came so beautifully boxed. Definitely a good gift.
Typo Lemon Phone Ring
Price £3.50 // Link to Buy
Last up to accompany the phone case was a new phone ring – I’ve missed having one of these on my case for a whille. I watch youtube videos on my phone whilst I’m getting ready in the morning and now I can go back to not balancing it on random objects on my dressing table!
And that’s it, I hope you’ve enjoyed my slightly odd homeware and phone case haul. Let me know if you’ve stumbled across any gems in TK Maxx recently or what you went during the Black Friday sales too.
