Products I’m Trying To Use Up: Update

Back in April I featured 3 blog posts of products I was trying to use up and get rid of from my collection. I thought I’d do an update almost 3 months on as to how I’ve been getting on! If you’d like to view the originals you can find the skincare one here, makeup one here and haircare one here.

1/ Zoella Wonderhand – Status: Used Up

I actually liked this handcream but because of it’s huge size I just got a bit fed up with seeing it around! I normally find myself going through handcreams monthly and this lasted about 5/6 months, so in terms of value for money, it’s top notch.

2/ Ole Henriksen Truth Serum – Status: Used Up

It didn’t take me long to use this up after the post went up – I took it away for the weekend and the cap wasn’t on! A huge sigh as I actually loved this – as did my skin! I have so many serums though I don’t need to repuchase right now, but would wholeheartedly recommend if you do need one!

3/ OPI Avoplex Cuticle Treatment – Status; Forgotten

This got put in my handbag with good intentions and to be honest I think it’s either got taken out or buried somewhere at the bottom as it’s only been used a handful of times. Time to dig it out again!

4/ Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser – Status: Still Working On It

Given this was mostly full I still haven’t managed to completely use this all up. I try to make this the product I reach for – but I find it a bit greasy for under makeup, I either use it for good skin days when I can ditch the foundation or use it at night when I can cope with the heavier feeling. I think I have about a third left so hopefully it will be gone by August.

5/ Oz Naturals Vitamin C Cleanser – Status: Used Up

I thought this was never going to end but it finally did! I liked this but didn’t love it – it didn’t remove makeup at all so really became a second stage cleanse for me – and tbh I’m way to lazy for a second cleanse.

6/ Organic Surge – Intensive Smoothing Serum – Status: Used Up

After I finished up the Ole Henriksen it was really easy to finish this off as the only one I was using. I actually really liked this for the evening, added such a boost of moisture!

1/ Bed Head Ego Boost – Status: Forgotten

I’ll admit I’ve used this a few times, but not as much as I should have done! This would be such an easy product to use up but it’s got lost in the drawer again. Think I need to put it on my dressing table and I’ll make my way through it quickly!

2/ Bleach Reincarnation Mask – Status: Used Up

This is a product which has incredible reviews, but I just wasn’t feeling it all that much! I also was not a fan of the packaging, the metal tube meant lots of product got stuck and was impossible to get out, making it not great value for money. Never the less it’s now gone!

3/ Lee Stafford Overnight Treatment – Status Used Up

I was right in my original post, this did have one use left – I’ve held onto this for about 3 years for on bloody use?! What an idiot, didn’t really see any great difference after using this, but I have been using an incredible hair mask that’s stealing the show.

4/ Charles Worthington Intense Rescue Melting Balm – Status: Forgotten

Not so much forgotten  but still just a pain in the bum to actually use and I haven’t used this at all. Due to having to melt this before putting in your hair I’m often in the shower before (and if) I remember to microwave this. If I’ve not used it in a month I may well bin it, I haven’t used it in a few years and never liked it the handful of times I tried it!

5/ Lee Stafford Sea Salt Spray – Status:  Still Working On It

I haven’t been using this too much as I find I have to wash my hair the day after I’ve used it as it tends to look a bit greasy after it’s been slept on. This may come in handy when I go abroad at the end of the July as there’s some water activities planned!

1/ Sleek Blush Trio – Status: Still Working On It

The middle shade in this was the one I was trying to finish up, the other too are way to pigmented for my heavy hand! A NARS orgasm type shade. I use this less than I use the other blush that’s on this list – the size of the pan hole has got bigger though, so I am getting closer!

2/ Sleek Contour Kit – Status: Still Working On It

When I first put this up I’d hit pan on the highlight side, now I’ve majorly hit pan on the highlight and I’ve also hit pan on the bronzer side too! Making good progress on this, but still desperate for it to be gone!

3/ My Little Beauty Embellisseur – Status: Still Working On It

OMG I do not know when this will end – I keep thinking each week this will be the week it runs out but alas no it keeps going. Still not 100% sure what this peach toned cream does, but never the less I will not throw it – it must be nearly empty. Please tell me it’s nearly empty.

4/ Urban Decay Perversion Mascara – Status: Used Up

I had two of these as samples and I did manage to use up one. I would have probably mananged to use up both but having worn eyelash extensions since March has meant that I’ve barely needed to reach for mascara. Didn’t like this thought it was really overpriced.

5/ Essence All About Matt Concealer – Status: Used Up

I had two of these in my drawer and kept reaching for my newer one over this one, and wanted to just reduce it to having the one in my drawer! I love this concealer such high coverage whilst looking natural and best of all it’s cheap too!

6/ Estee Lauder Peach Nuance Blush – Status: Still Working On It

Starting to get really, really close on this all being finished up now! I’d say there’s about a quarter at most left – because of the gradient it’s becoming a bit hard to mix one end with the other as one is super bright peach and the other is toned down yellow, getting the perfect balance of both is hard!

7 out of 16 products used up – with a few that must be getting close (My Little Beauty Embelliseur I’m looking at you!). Not too bad I don’t think – there’s only been a few products which I’ve forgotten to  keep using up and I’m going to make an effort to correct that going into July!

Have you got any products that you’re desperately trying to finish up?

I loved this post – I’m so bad at using up products so they just sit on the shelf gathering dust. You’ve inspired me to start reaching for old things!!

i’ve currently got 3 months worth of empties which I know there’s 40+ items from my last count! most of these products are pretty old, so I organised my stash, picked out what I wanted to use up first and really concentrated on getting those gone!

It’s just okay – like I said I find I need to wash my hair the day after using it as it seems to make my hair greasy – but the effect it has when it’s just dried is really pretty. x

I wash my hair everyday so that wouldn’t be an issue but the sea salt spray I bought did nothing so I’m def gonna need to try this one! Xo

Ole Henriksen is such a good line. Not too expensive and they seem to work. I’ve only used sample sizes but I’ve liked eveything I’ve tried. Will have to try out more stuff from them.
What is the Bed Head Ego Boost used for? Is it a styling product or a treatment?
Makeup items take FOOOOREVER to use up! Ugh, I’m never going to complain that a makeup item is “too small”. ๐Ÿ˜›
Well done. 7/16 is not bad at all!

It’s a split end repair treatment (I use the word repair lightly, aka full of silicones to make it look repaired)
Ole henriksen is kinda pricey here, I’ve had several minis from the. And splashed out on the marmalade cleanser – can’t remember it’s real name – I’ve liked everything too, want to try more from them in future!

I find it soooo difficult to finish products, I use so many at the moment and most of them are half empty. I guess I will have to wait until the end of the year to do an empties post haha!

In addition to these I’ve got a massive bag of empties which I know has a minimum of 40 products inside! Had the clearout/finish up of the century over the past few months!
