My Little Magic Box – December 2015 Unboxing

I was completely excited to receive my ‘My Little Box‘ this month – my friend at work had hers delivered almost a week before hers and she told me how fantastic it was and I couldn’t resist taking a peek (as I knew mine would be a good few days behind as it always has been for some reason!). This saw the subscription transformed into a My Little Magic Box for the month of December – and spoiler alert, this is the best My Little Box to date.

The box is complete with the usual print – although I’m not 100% sure I understand it, I normally keep these to put up around the house – this one says “this box is magical, do you know why?” – with a picture of 2 girls partying (no box), so outside of the box it makes no sense what-so-ever which is a shame! Besides that the ‘proper’ magazine is back – instead of the giant fold out poster which was both difficult to read, and it would be full of creases should you have wanted to put it up on the wall! Onto the contents of the box…

The more lifestyle items this month included a Kusmi Tea – which is a french brand who I haven’t heard of before, in a beautiful tiny tin (that definitely won’t get thrown after use!). As soon as I opened the box I could smell something fruity and christmassy and it’s this (despite being sealed), this is a green tea with orange, vanilla, cinnamon, blackthorn berries and liquorice roots.

Next a pair of mittens where the finger tips fold back and button up, these are a super cute navy with a gold thread running through (although thanks to the winter light they look black). I was a bit worried these were going to be a bit cheap and itchy (my skin is a wool snob and only likes one type of wool!) but luckily they’re not!

Makeup Bag/Pouch

The gold and navy theme continues with a gorgeous canvas pouch which is lined so it’s either waterproof or dirt escaping proof, suitable for makeup, accessories – or to be honest if you really wanted to you could use it for a clutch as well. Sometimes items from boxes like this can look nice – but aren’t very well made. This feels and appears very sturdy – it’s the perfect size for an overnight makeup bag where you don’t need to take everything. One side features some glittery gold illustrations of makeup items and perfume, the other has polka dots adorning it.

Inside the cosmetics bag we were greeted with 3 beauty items as normal, going further to impress me and make it the best box yet.

My Little Beauty Vice Versa Polish DUO

First of is a nail polish duo from My Little Beauty called Vice Versa – which features two shades which completes the navy and gold theme, with a shimmery navy shade called ‘Night’ and a gold glitter topcoat called ‘sparkling’. Both shades are super pretty and I’ll be trying them out on the next available opportunity!

Next in the box was Rituals Touch of Happiness Body Cream – another product which might have been guilty of making the box smell gorgeous from when I opened it! This is sweet orange and cedar wood scented, so similarly to the tea it’s a nice festive mix of rich fruity scents and smokey warm spiciness. I’ve not tried anything from rituals apart from the shower foams, so I’m excited to give this a go.

Last but certainly not least is a product which I’ve eyed from a distance for a long while – this is a generous sample sized Too Faced Melted lipstick – in a very me shade ‘Melted Fuchsia’. I’m actually happy to have a miniature size, because realistically – how often do you finish a lip product, especially if like me you have 30 bright pink shades?! I love liquid lipsticks, and I’m sure this will be no exception.

What do you think of this month’s box? Pretty magical items inside right?

If you’re thinking of subscribing and want to see past offerings from MLB (none are quite as good as this in my opinion, but still great) check out this post here for every UK box they’ve made.

I love the mittens and pouch, I’m giving my mum the tea as I don’t drink it. I had different items – I got the varnish (v cute), a different rituals that smelled beautifully of Rose and I didn’t get the lipstick, I got a NARS blusher which I was very impressed with.
Have you tried the magic app? You download it to your phone and hold it over the box and something magic happens – don’t want to spoil it for you. I think details are on the back of the card, possibly in the magazine?

Whoops no didn’t look at the back of the card at all, I’ll do that when I get home tonight! When I got a bit bored of waiting and seeing others arriving I looked at a few posts on Insta and saw Nars blushes, I would have been happy with either! What shade was the blush? Xxx

Not sure if your spam filter will let me say! It’s Org@sm! With the @ being an a! A lovely pink that two women in my office (where i opened my box because I was too excited to wait) said that is THE coveted NARS shade.

I loved this box, just instead of a lipstick I got NARS blush. I keep treating myself to the expensive I-wanted-this-all-my-life things for my approaching 30, so decided to cancel the boxes ( I also had Glossybox). I was so sure about it! And now after receiving this one I don’t want to stop. My partner offered to get me a year’s subscription as a gift, but I was also eyeing So Susan bags, so still not sure.. I have a feeling that this awesomeness may not last.. MLBreceived a lot of criticism previouly and they really pulled this one off, but is it gonna last?

I think this one is exceptional – but for the most part I think that they’ve still done well, it’s generally the box I am most happy with each month! If you look at that link at the end of my post you can see everything that’s ever been in a box. Have you tried so Susan products – I must have received about 6 products from various different boxes and I haven’t been a fan of any so far. I saw some people got a blush, what shade was it? Xx

I have a few things that I’ve enjoyed – a crayon pencil that works wonders for my panda eyes, and a shimmery crayon, that I love (not sure how to use it though:D). They also include some Jelly Pong Pong stuff in So Susan bags, and I have a mascara, that is the first non waterproof that stays all day! Maybe they will have some good subscription sales on Boxing day..

I’ve had one lip crayon I’ve liked from Jelly Pong pong, but again it’s another brand which I’ve had a few things from and not loved – including the mascaras!

That box is absolutely incredible, especially the Too Faced lipstick, I’ve been eyeing them up for ages!

I know! Think it’s my fave beauty box ever – which after 4 years of subscription services is quite a statement! X

Really gorgeous box! I always enjoy it when a theme is really followed through. I’ve been looking at this one for ages – got a So Susan Lip Love subscription on Black Friday for 3 months so will see how I feel when that’s over x

    • December 22, 2015 / 1:26 pm

Have you received anything from So Susan yet, I’ve only liked 1 product from the 10 or so that I’ve received in various beauty boxes? That was a lip product so interested to see if you’ve liked anything else! Have you started using your CH cult beauty goodies yet – or have you got to wait for christmas? xxx
