Somehow I managed a little restraint over looking over the contents of the UK edition of the June’s My Little Box, other than seeing what the theme was as My Little Box do like to give out spoilers as soon as they’ve sent the boxes! I think it’s because I’d already pre-made up my mind that this box would be my last subscription to the service, but yet again, as I’m ready to quit it pulls it out of the bag.
This month sees the box collaborate with blogger and shop owner Fringe&Frange, who is a french lady living in LA. For once the theme already feels as if it’s tying together! Instead of a print this month it’s included a little guide of places to eat, shop, see and stay in LA, I may pass this onto my sister who is visiting LA amongst other places in September.
Not only was there no print this month, but it was also without their usual perfectly tied bow with the trademark My Little Box ribbon! They made up for it with everything exceptionally packaged in beautiful palm prints though.
First thing I found tucked inside was a little pouch with a sweet brightly coloured beaded bracelet inside. Full of bright pink and oranges (which look really nice against my freshly tanned skin!). I love these kind of easy slip on style beaded bracelets in summer and I will be sporting this accessory quite a lot this summer, I can already tell.
Next up for the lifestyle items was a little set of stickers, which remind me very much of the ones in the first ever UK My Little Box which were french themed. Fun for dressing up your diary or planner if you have one, or if more like me, sticking to the back of a phone case, because you’re 100% not organised enough to keep a bullet journal.
Lastly something I wish I had last month, as I completely forgot to pack a beach bag with for honeymoon, and I would have remembered if this was a fresh arrival! A lovely tropical print canvas bag that folds up to being quite small, good for the beach for storing towels in, or a picnic!
They also waved goodbye to the canvas bags where the beauty items normally sit, and instead welcomed a paper bag, almost pharmacy style but much cuter! I actually kind of prefer this, whilst the canvas bags are lovely I’ve now got so many of them after almost three years of subscription that I don’t know what to do with them, but throwing them away also seems wasteful. They’re slightly too small for storing anything of note so it was nice to see something a bit different, as throwing a paper bag away doesn’t feel as bad!
First beauty item I spotted was the Palmers Coconut Oil Body Lotion, this smells absolutely lovely and my skin always soaks up coconut based products a treat. I haven’t really tried anything from popular brand Palmer’s in the past, and this will be making it’s way to my bedside table immediately for some evening post suntan moisturisation!
Next was the My Little Beauty product of the month, with their Coco Sunrise hair and body oil. Initially I smelt this and whilst it didn’t smell horrible, it was almost scentless. Dropping a bit into my palm and rubbing it into my arm changed my mind entirely, it’s a sweet fragrance with a spicy kick that reminds me a lot of another hair oil I had. Not sure whether I will use this as a hair or body oil, I kind of don’t like the fact it doesn’t have a pump as I feel like I’d constantly have too much by squeezing it out, and I don’t really use body oils!
Lastly is the Soap Bark and Chamomile Deep Cleansing Cream from Burt’s Bees – I’ve not tried anything other than lip balms from Burt’s Bees so it’s another product I’m happy to see included and will be putting to the test as my next cleanser!
So you can probably tell that this month was a much better one for me compared to recent months (or should I say year?!). The theme actually ties together, with all of the products and I will use all the lifestyle items as well. Like I said at the start I was thinking of unsubscribing and this box was almost enough to convince me not to. But I’ve decided I’m actually going to cut the cord and unsubscribe.
I’ve debated it really since last January, and have joked for a long while that I’m only subscribed for my blog – it’s my most popular post of the month usually. Garnering anywhere between 1-3,000 post views a month if my box didn’t arrive late compared to every one else’s so I can get it up the day after it arrives (which mine seems to more and more often, I seem to be in the last batch to receive!).
I’m going to put a little goodbye post together for next week with the reasons why I’ve decided that it’s time for me to say goodbye. But I feel like if I see a box which wows me I can always resubscribe as a one off box, but for the most part the boxes have been a disappointment for the past year and if I don’t cut the cord I never will.
If you’re interested in seeing the French edition of My Little Box, please head over to my friend Joyce’s blog, who is living in Paris and also unboxes the box every month. If you want to see all the past UK boxes (as I have been subbed from the start!) then click here to browse the contents of past boxes.

This is such a cute box! You got some really great things
Beauty Candy Loves
Such a shame to hear it’s been a let down the last few months! 🙁
I loved the idea of this but ended up unsubcribing last year when I culled my beauty box habit.
Might need to pick this up as a one off though – the stickers are so cute!

Really enjoy your honest thoughts about unsubscribing! I sometimes feel torn with boxes because like you said, you’ll be disappointed then the next box will be a dream and you change your mind!! This one seems lovely so at least you can go out on a high! Xxx
Yeah that one good box in every 6 is enough to keep you subscribed for another 6! I’ve just written up my goodbye post for it, feel a bit sad haha!
Welcome back!
O my word, Rachel! You’re finally divorcing MLB. I totally understand you though. Sub for the blog feels pretty crummy. This box also edged me off quite a bit. Sigh, perhaps I should do the same. This box sucked so bad for me. At least you got a cleanser. I totally did not like any of the beauty product this month. I just hate coconut smell in general? Well, unless it is in my curry, I don’t like it *LOL*
Haha I’m the opposite I don’t mind a coconut smell, but not that keen on the taste! I haven’t got around to updating this post yet, but don’t try the hair oil in your hair. I used it last night and I look like a grease bomb today, I’m going to have to wash it again tonight!
At least our boxes were similar this month! First time in ages the french and Uk editions have had the same range of products for beauty! I’ve written up my goodbye post today for it, now just need to dig out three years worth of boxes for a photo haha!
Wahahah that will be a mega photo. Best of luck, Rachel xox
You got really great stuffs! I love Burt’s Bees products.
I have say I have been feeling the same with MLB as you. When you open it and just feel ‘meh’ it’s time to give it up. I unsubsidised last month after ‘Friday night’ box, which made no sense! Also I stuggle to know what to do with all the boxes… I only have so much space to spare, but feel loath to chuck them out. To be fair there have some good ones and I still have a few nice accessories which I use, just not enough to keep me hooked.
I use all mine as overflow storage for foundations that are currently not the right shade or spare cleansers, but I definitely have enough now! I got them out to take a picture for my goodbye post and it took up half of our queen size bed 🙈
The bracelet and tote are probably the best thing from this box!
Am curious about how that Burt’s Bees cleanser will work although I’ve not had a lot of good luck with their skincare – usually they’re too greasy.
