Back at the start of December I spotted a very small freedom stand in Cambridge’s Superdrug. There had been a few items that I’d been wanted to try from freedom and this was one of them.
Both Freedom and sister brand Makeup Revolution have become infamous for their low cost dupes of high end products. I’ve even gotten rid of my Urban Decay Naked palette in favour of the makeup revolution knock off versions so I was key to see if this lived up to the same standard.
These are pegged as dupes for the much loved and coveted high end hourglass ambient lighting powders, which at £38 each I’ve admired but never been able to justify. But in true freedom fashion these powders are a mere £3. There are two dupeable shades Diffused and Ambient, I wanted to pick up both – as ambient is warmer toned and Diffused is cooler – but unfortunately the Superdrug only had Diffused.
The shade is a light pearl pink highlight, which has an easily blendable texture which is very silky and not chalky like you might think a £3 highlight would be. The colour can be applied quite heavily if needed which just gives a normal highlight look, but the way these are most designed to be used is as a light glow that just adds a touch of luminosity to the skin. It can be used just on the cheekbones and left without blending too much for a more intense look or sheerly applied all across the face for a luminous finish.
I recently bought Mary Lou manizer from the balm which was much more expensive, but this is the one which I’ve found myself reaching for everyday. I absolutely love how it looks on my skin and I’ve had lots of compliments about how nice my skin has looked. I’ve even started using it as an inner corner highlight on the eyes too for a subtle look, but still does the job of brightening up the eye area perfectly. It’s difficult to tell on these pictures but I’ve already evened out the raised design of this powder in the centre in only a month which shows just how much I have been loving it!
This is easily the highlight I’ve used for the past month or so and I can’t see myself stopping any time soon – unless I manage to get my hands on the Ambient version of which I’m sure I’ll love as much and flick between the two!
Keep your eyes peeled for a giveaway -probably next week which will be including this in the lineup! What are you favourite highlighters?

Great, I have been wondering about these for a while. Love the way this looks, beautiful natural glow. I just bought the Hourglass palette, but it would be so nice to see how these compare π

I think it would do, possibly the warmer toned one might sit a little better but it’s so sheer it would suit everyone! X
what a great find! It looks a lot like the baked gel powder that MAC and Estee Lauder has released before. I wish this was available here.
What a bargain! Just had a lovely catch up on your blog as been so busy with various family disasters(!) – loving all the new reviews x
Oh no! I know that feeling – hope everything is okay, I can’t seem to keep up at the minute either! Xxx
