Empties April 2021

April 2021 Empties

Ahhh, it feels nice looking at a cluttered empties basket after a fairly busy month of shopping through April knowing at least with all the new I bought in this month – I also cleared out a lot of old too. I’m going to jump straight into my April 2021 Empties as it’s a chunky one this month and have a lot to talk about – they’ll be shorter speed reviews this time!

SGX Under Control Finishing Spray
Really enjoyed this hairspray, it wasn’t too heavy and seemed to hold a curl pretty well. However the brand has been discontinued from Boots which was the only UK seller of this, so I won’t be hunting it down again.
Repurchase? Would but can’t easily, so have gone elsewhere.

Lee Stafford Keep in Clean Dry Shampoo
Simply one of the best dry shampoos I’ve tried – it really soaks up grease without making hair look powdery and it’s rare I find a dry shampoo I can use on multiple days between washes without my hair getting heavy. However it’s been discontinued from Boots. Rumour is Home Bargains have it for £1.99 – I don’t have a Home Bargains local or I’d be swiping the shelves of 20 cans.
Repurchase? This has been discontinued which is horrendous news

Tigi Honey and Oatmeal Conditioner
Great conditioner, conditions my hair, makes it shiny without making it heavy or weighed down. Must have been through 10 bottles of this the past few years.
Repurchase? Yes, but B&M where I normally get it from haven’t had it for a while. It used to be really cheap there compared to other places.

Garnier Watermelon Hair Mask
Garnier is cruelty-free again so I can go back to these lovely hair masks! Wahoo! I’ve been using hair masks a lot recently as I’ve really, really, royally fucked up my hair with bleach and needed something more intense. This is the nicest scented one from Garnier and a new one – however I’ve just been trying a hair mask from Aussie and holy moly. That stuff is special, so trumps this at a similar price, but would buy this again.
Repurchase? Yes

Colorwow Dreamcoat 50ml
I picked up a beauty box as I’d wanted to try this product again as I’d been debating the full size, and this was inside. Remembering it made my hair super shiny. I found this transformative on blonde hair which can often lack the shine of colours, but on my coloured hair I didn’t find it made much of a difference. I have another mini bottle of this I am using up but I won’t be buying the full size with my current hair colour.
Repurchase? Not at the moment, maybe in future.

Directions Dark Tulip x 2, Alpine Green & Violet Hair Dyes
Dark Tulip has been my colour of choice recently, however, the colour fades out almost completely in one wash, shame as it’s a really pretty purple pink, but I think I’d go back to my usual pink once I’ve finished up the few tubs I have of this. Alpine Green doesn’t take very well at all – but I love Violet, debating a full head of this shade in future.
Repurchase? Love directions colours, have a massive batch of them in at all times

Tom Ford Black Orchid 50ml
My all time favourite perfume, a deep heavy and heady fragrance that I wear mostly through autumn and winter on special occasions. It’s a long lasting fragracnce that I only need a few spritzes off and this bottle has lasted me a long time.
Repurchase? Already have, I can’t be without it.

A few samples here, trying to make my way through – YSL Libre, Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Lavender, Miu Miu L’eau Bleue, Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau so Sweet – all nice but none of them were particular stand outs. However, Karl Largerfeld Fleur de Murier has gone on my Boots wishlist and I’ll be keeping an eye on this going on offer and snap it up if it does!

Cutex Ultra Powerful Nail Varnish Remover
This was okay, I miss nail varnish remover that used to melt your fingers off it was so strong. This one did work but it was harder work than I would have liked.
Repurchase? Maybe, slim pickings of remover choices.

Bronnley Natural Gardener’s Therapy Bath Soak
I picked this up in TK Maxx a while ago and have just finished it up. This was a nice bubble bath with a light floral fragrance.
Repurchase? Eh – no, it’s also discontinued.

The Body Shop Frosted Cranberry Bath Jelly
This is a real oldie in my collection – Glad to have finished this up as the plastic was becoming borderline antique looking. Don’t think the bath jelly formula is something they usually make a lot of – but I wouldn’t buy it again as I didn’t find it really did much in terms of scent, bubbles or luxe feeling.
Repurchase? No

Frank Body Coconut Body Scrub 20g
First time trying Frank and it’s pretty much the same as any other coffee scrub, nice and effective, however couldn’t really smell the coconut in this one!
Repurchase? Maybe, I have a few scrubs in at the moment but do love a coffee scrub.

Augustinus Bader The Rich Cream 50ml [I work for Augustinus Bader]
Whilst I work for Augustinus Bader, I really don’t want to fall in love with expensive products – but ugh, I bloody love this stuff and so does my skin. I don’t find this heavy at all and gives a nice healthy glow to the skin. I’m also 31 and have been ID’d a lot recently, I’m thanking this.
Repurchase? Already have backups of this, we were lucky as staff to be sent some as part of Christmas gifting, so it’s taken me a few months to finish up my first bottle. I am trying out a few other moisturisers at the moment before I go back to this but I’m missing this dearly!

Ole Henriksen Truth Juice Daily Cleanser
Tiny little sample of this, I have a full size of this lingering too but after hearing it really didn’t agree with my friends skin I decided to try out this little mini first and see if it worked for me. No obvious reactions in the few uses I got from this, will happily crack open the full size at some point!
Repurchase? Already have!

The Body Shop Spice Apple Lip Balm
This has been one of the main lip balms I have had on the go since Christmas, then I purchased a few more as I was getting close to finishing it and it fell to the back of my drawer and I have put it on my desk determined to see it gone completely! LE scent, crap vaseline like formula that acts as a barrier but doesn’t repair.
Repurchase? No

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lipstick
I have a full size of this already but wanted to try and finish off this dinky mini. I thought this would be a nice idea for clutch bags but it’s so small it’s almost difficult to use, but this sample did make me fall in love with the colour which I did think would be too light for me.
Repurchase? Already have!

Tarte Amazonian Clay Sparkler Highlighter
Woo! My second fully finished project pan product of the year. This was a perfect shade of highlight for me, a natural toned glow that could be amped up to the max if desired.
Repurchase? If I didn’t have a tonne of highlighters I’d be tempted, but I have loads to use up.

Too Faced Glitter Glue 5g
I got this in a My Little Box, which tells you how old this is, I use this when I use loose glitters, pigments or really foily flaky shadows that need an extra bit 0f stick. I love this, I would have repurchased if TF were CF, however, I have gone for the NYX one instead and I do have to say, they seem identical!
Repurchase? No as not CF.

Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Face Primer 15mL
I got a couple of these in sets around Christmas and this has been one of 2 primers I’ve had on rotation. This is nice and a moisturising formula without overloading my oilier complexion. I will use up the second one of these I have, but I don’t think I will repurchase again.
Repurchase? Unlikely, but if you have normal to dry skin it might be worth checking out.

Urban Decay Honey Single Eyeshadow
I posted on Instagram about this recently, this is 15 years old and purchased for my Prom! I finished up the last use of this. This is the shade that is now in the honey palette, however is no longer sold separately.
Repurchase? No, don’t love UD shadows any more, but it was a nice trip down memory lane this month!

Last year my total £ finish up was sitting at around £1200, this year by the end of April I’m already at the £1000 mark, however with a few expensive items in there like the Augustinus Bader Rich Cream (£205) and the Tom Ford Perfume (£85). I’ve also exactly finished 100 items already. I’m suspecting this year could be back towards my 2019 and 2018 totals than last years understandable dip. If you’d like to take a peek at my empties spreadsheet and make a copy to track yourself, feel free here.

How does the Garnier hair mask smell? I enjoy the smell of watermelon most of the time haha. Well done on finishing the Tarte highlighter and UD shadow! I must look at trying a glitter glue for really shimmery shadows, sometimes a regular eye primer doesn’t cut it.

It’s Watermelony and sweet but light, I don’t find it lingers in the hair much but is nice while it’s on.
I thought Glitter Glues would be really sticky and difficult to use but they’re like a tacky primer so just hold onto foil pigments really well so they don’t loose the intensity of the effect with blending – they do make a huge difference, there really is no difference between the too faced one and the NYX one though, so go cheap I’d say!

After leaving this comment the other day I went looking for the NYX one and found it. It should be arriving today so I’ll give it a whirl over the next few weeks.
