Okay, where did August go? I always think of August as the height of summer, the warmest weather and the lots of evenings chilling in the garden, that didn’t happen this year at all as it was pretty much a permanent wash out! But one thing is official, if I’m not on a no-buy, I don’t spend as much money. So if I ever say I’m doing one again, please remind me that I shouldn’t do one.
I used up over 30 products this month and most of them were full size! So yet again I’ve split this months empties post into two to save it being biblically long!
Michael Kors Very Hollywood
*Sigh* I’m so sad to see this go, I have a 30, 50 and 100ml of this perfume and this was the 50ml. I’ll miss having these all lined up together. My favourite every day perfume I’m glad that I have others there already. It’s not that easy to find in the UK – and the only place I can now find it stocked is my local department centre.
Repurchase? No need to at the moment… unless it’s to replace the 50ml so I can have a pretty line again!
Vivienne Westwood Cheeky Alice
I bought this as I’m a big fan of Naughty Alice as it’s one of my favourite perfumes. I was expecting to fall in love with the Alice line as a whole but sadly didn’t. I didn’t hate this, but it wasn’t anything special either. It wasn’t floral, it wasn’t spicy, it wasn’t fruity. It sat in a middle half way house and didn’t smell of anything in particular – great if you like that kind of thing, but it wasn’t for me, it just came off a bit “nothing”.
Ghost Girl Sample
This is a sample of Ghosts new fragrance that I ordered online. I’ve never tried or owned anything from Ghost before, and I wasn’t really expecting to like this but was pleasantly surprised. I can’t really remember what it smelt of, but I remember it being quite girly, but it had something about it which seemed unusual. I’m going to see if this is in Duty Free when I go on holiday and I might actually purchase this if I still like it in there. My perfume stash has pretty much decreased to a “normal” size now, and a lot of the fragrances I have left are more spicy and heavy.
I posted a review of this here, I loved this as an instant cleaner for removing shadows off a brush without having to wait for it to dry. Perfect for spot cleaning on the go, it was quick and easy.
Repurchase? It’s not in stores (as far as I’ve seen) and only online, when I need to place a bigger order, I’ll reorder but for such a cheap product it seems pointless by itself!
Revolution Pressed Powder
My favourite pressed powder by far and it’s only £2! It’s been in many empties before as I’ve used 3 or 4 of these since discovering at the start of the year. Also has a mirror on the back and a powder sponge that slots in the back which makes it perfect for touch ups on the go. I’ve been trying to use up some others in my stash and those are nearly empty now, so I need to get one back in my collection as soon as possible.
Repurchase? Yes yes yes. ASAP!
Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Primer
I have a full Jane Iredale Kit review waiting to go up. I liked this primer, it reminded me of the Laura Mercier foundation primer. It had a very nice orangey scent which made it very pleasant to use. Await the full review of the kit for my thoughts on this.
Repurchase? Wait and See!
Maybelline Gel Eyeliner
I can’t believe this is actually finished, I thought it was one of those products which was never going to end! I must have had this 2 years at least, and used it pretty much most days, it never dried out at all. I absolutely love this, once it’s on it doesn’t budge or smudge all day, even in heat. I tried using others in my collection after this ended and they didn’t perform or remotely compare to this.
Repurchase? Already have!
I posted a full review on this mascara here, this wasn’t my favourite as I found it to be lengthening without volumising – as I have already long lashes, I want volume adding for impact. It’s also a horror to remove, too stubborn.
A product which I’ve also previously reviewed here – I liked this in my review, although it wasn’t my favourite. What you can’t tell from this is that it’s still two thirds full. When I came to use it this month (having run out of Seche also) it had turned gloopy and was no longer useable.
Pina Colada Lip Balm
I got this in my July Pink Parcel – Initally I said I didn’t think it was very moisturising, but I was trying to apply this with my finger. I didn’t realise that it actually twisted up, which helpled a hell of a lot. It wasn’t my favourite scent as I thought it smelt more like a Naan bread than a pina colada, but it was nice and moisturising, I would just rebuy another scent.
Repurchase? I have no idea where to get them from, but I would if I could.
Seche Vite Topcoat
Previous HG status topcoat, this may have been overtaken by a new, cheaper kid on the block (although I’m still deciding before I definately make such bold claims). You all know the drill with Seche Vite, I won’t say any more about it – I do still love it and would happily still use it if I hadn’t found something slightly cheaper.
Repurchase? Yes. (infact I might get another to do a comparison post)
Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer
Received in my April Love Me Beauty Box I was so sad to use this up. A bronzer that was brown and not orangey in the slightest is a rarity for me. Plus this smelt of chocolate too. I don’t like to do anything too heavy when it comes to contouring, but this was enough to add some subtle definition. Considering this was a sample size that I was using most days, it lasted 3 months which was pretty good going, I will repurchase this but I’m trying to use up one from sleek before I do!
Hope everyone in the UK is having a fabulous Bank Holiday weekend. Hands up for a 3 day weekend every weekend!
