A Second Colourpop Haul

I knew it wasn’t going to be long until I found myself placing another ColourPop haul, after my first on arrived and everything from the first swatch had me excited, but I didn’t expect to be placing a second order the day my first haul post went up.

Sophie messaged me to say they had free international delivery on the weekend on any purchases, it’s normally $50 dollars to get it for free and then you’re stung with paying customs. Between us I think we managed to work out you’re actually better off doing smaller orders under the $20 dollar mark to avoid customs (We had a £24 one on our joint $80 order), where as coming under the threshold obviously makes everything cheaper, and waiting out for a international delivery promo (which seems to be once or twice a month might be the best bet). Colourpop also frequently run different multi-buy deals or store wide discounts, usually always on a weekend so I would say it’s worth waiting it out to order the items you like on a deal, for example last time it was order 2 shadows, get a free brush. This time they had a different range of deals on, from three lip products for $15, or three Supershock shadows for $9.99. I actually ended up placing two orders, one over the $20 limit, one under – $27.99 and $14.99, in terms of customs charges I got charged for both I would have been better off placing one big order as a word of warning. FML – I had almost £30 worth of customs charges collectively, Sophie and I’s order together was £26 ($80 total!). The cap for customs is £15, but because they put the full retail price on the packaging pre any discounts meant that my smaller order was tipped over the limit as well, and included an £8 handling charge per order, Word of warning for anyone trying to get around the customs charges!

It was only a week between me getting my first order from Sophie, and placing my second order – and in that time there were 4 days I hadn’t touched them because of course, I needed to photograph them first. So I only had a few days to know which of the formulas I was loving. The lip products I still didn’t really know which I liked and which I didn’t, but I already knew I was falling deeply in love for the supershock shadows.

First I picked up one of the shadows sets from the Kathleen Lights Collection. I don’t watch Kathleen Lights, and I’m not sure I’ve ever watched one of her videos. But out of all the collections ColourPop has done, Kathleen Light’s is by far the most interesting to me. I picked the Where The Night Is set which contains 4 shadows, mostly on the brighter and coloured spectrum. The one shade that called out from the collection was Telepathy – a gorgeous bright yellow gold chartreuse which has a foily metallic finish. Porter a metallic cranberry, Weenie a warm rose gold, and Midnight a Smokey Gold Grey with an olive undertone.

I then picked up three more single Supershock shadows, all in the Glittery finish I’d fallen so deeply for with my first order. The first one I made a bee-line for was So Quiche which was recommended to me in my first haul by Amy at MakeupCase17. This is such an unusual colour, it’s a warm taupey olive with gold and purple micro glitter flecks – stunning and totally different to anything I have. Valley Girl which reminded me of a Podcast that Cat and Stashy did not so long ago and the name made me laugh (I’m 90% sure it was Valley Girls they were talking about, either that or it was something similar!) – this is a pretty pearl white which is just a good staple for me! I also picked up Dance Party a blackened purple with lots of multicoloured glitters in it, mostly in the pink, blue and purple spectrum.

On the first order because I spent over $20, I got to pick a free mini of the Ultra Satin Liquid Lip, I picked up the shade London Fog, a bright red with a cherry undertone. Most of the mini selections were either stuff I already have a million of (rose pinks) or too pale for me. So I opted for something a bit different.

The second order I placed was actually for my Sister’s birthday – it’s not until September, but I thought she would enjoy some of the shadows and one of the lip products I already bought, so I placed a second smaller order the following day, she actually ended up staying the evening after I’d made the order and looked at some of the items from my first order as they were out on my Vanity. I know for her birthday she will want mostly cash, as she’s doing a big US roadtrip over her birthday, stopping in LA, San Francisco and Las Vegas to name a few places – but I thought these would be a nice few things to wrap with it/small enough to wrap and take with her. Becca if you’re reading stop.

Seriously, stop scrolling.

Becca is very much a neutral eyeshadow girl, I bought her a naked palette about 4/5 years ago for Christmas and she’s hit pan on every shade and for the most part she’s finished around half of the shades up. Looking at that thing when ever she stays over is like a work of art. I picked her up three neutral shimmers which I thought would fill the gaps for the things she’s used up from her palette. I need to get a picture of that palette when she is next over.

The three shades I chose were Tea Party, which is a peachy pinky shade in the pan but swatches show this more as a pale rose gold/champagne hybrid. Cuddle Bunny, which I actually ordered by mistake I meant to swap it out for Co-Pilot, it’s a pale shimmery pink & Sequin which I know is one of CP’s all time best sellers, it’s a gorgeous shade that sits between a rose gold and a bronze, it’s not too dark and not too light.I’m thinking of keeping Cuddle Bunny as it’s much pinker than what I was meant to order and I don’t think she will wear it!. I then also picked her up the Lippie Stix in Lumiere, which I thought out of the four lip formulas I had, and colour wise, would be her favourite knowing what she wears.

It’s going to kill me to keep these sitting in my cupboard for a few months, unswatched and unopened, I genuinely might have to wrap them now so resist temptation.

Swatches

Left to Right: Ultra Satin in London Fog, Supershock Shadows in Valley Girl, Dance Party, So Quiche, Weenie, Telepathy, Midnight, Porter

I can see international free shipping become dangerous with me and colourpop, I’ll probably add one or two shadows at a time to my collection at a time, now I understand those pesky rules! I’m on the lookout for recommendations, so please feel free to leave some below! I want to grab some mattes so I can do some full colourpop eye looks, so if there’s some must have mattes, please let me know!

Awesome hauls! So nice you got some for your sis, as well 😀

I hauled, too (my boxes all came last week! whee!) and we got a couple of the same shades. The Super Shock Shadows are amazing, aren’t they? I can’t get enough…the only thing I don’t like is having to unscrew each pot individually. I love palettes! Aaaargh.

Also, YES customs is so annoying. I placed a few orders and kept them all lower so that I could A) get the free lippie and B) hopefully not get dinged by customs. I got lucky this time!

And the KathleenLights shadows are perfection, aren’t they?! Best e/s set that I saw at CP.

    • Same me too! I’ve thought about trying to depot them, but it doesnt look like you can lift the pans out 😕
Yes mine came last week too, they seemed to take ages this time, almost three weeks our first order was only 9 days!

Don’t depot those Super Shock shadows. You have to keep them in their packaging and keep them tightly closed when not using them because they will otherwise dry out due to their unique formula & consistency.

        • I thought that would probably be the case as they’re so mushy feeling! Hadn’t had chance to confirm that was the case so thanks for letting me know!

I LOVE the ones with the white-ish, dark blue and earth color, they’d be so up my alley! This post is seriously making me want to grab some Colorpop products! Really cool haul and your photography is good :p

  6. May 29, 2017 / 7:56 am

OMG!!! That pink is PERFECTION! I need that in my life. I bought Bubbly which I really love but this is what I was really looking for! P.S. I just got up out of bed at nearly midnight to look up the pink I got recently. You actually got my lazy butt out of bed.

    • Its such a pretty shade I think it might be too pink for her always neutral look though so may keep it! Adding bubbly to my list to check out! I don’t think you can be called lazy at almost midnight! Xxx

I love the shades that you picked for your sister, they are seriously beautiful. She’ll be happy with them for sure. xx

Yay you got So Quiche! I told you it was fab! 😉😊

I loved reading this and the shades you picked up, I’ve got a Colourpop problem since receiving my first order about a month ago now. I similarly received my order, saw the free international shipping on any amount and placed more orders. A matte I picked up was Crenshaw, which I have been loving in the crease, so may be worth a look.

The swatches are soo gorgeous!! Free shipping is definitely a dangerous thing hahha we have learnt our lessons on the customs front!!!🙈 xxx

  13. May 29, 2017 / 10:23 pm

Another ColourPop order?! BUT, it does make sense to take advantage of the free shipping. I can’t believe they still dinged you with customs on both order – they’re so strict!
That yellow from the Kathleen Lights Collection is such a stand-out shade! Wow, that swatch.
LOL you think Becca listened to you and stopped scrolling?!! XD Yes, I do suggest wrapping them up on now to eliminate the temptation!
I didn’t take advantage of all these amazing deals that ColourPop has been having but I will just live vicariously through you and Chris… 😛

This pigmentation is insane! I really need to try their eyeshadows 😍 do you know if they are still internationally shipping for free on weekends?

    • August 16, 2017 / 9:20 am

It’s an offer which comes and goes – they seem to do it frequently in certain months, and then not for ages – I haven’t seen it for ages, but it is free over 50 dollars at all times!
