ASOS Beauty Box – August 2021

ASOS Beauty Box August 2021

It’s been a little while since my last ASOS Beauty Box, with the last ones I purchased being hair themed. I saw a spoiler of what was coming in this month’s drop a few days early – I knew it was going to be one I was setting a reminder to get my hands on. The theme of this one was a weekend getaway box. Being honest, the theme was a little weak for me – however there was a star item in there which I already knew I liked which more than covered the cost of the box and a few items/brands in there I’d wanted to try, so overall as usual – the £12 c0st was excellent value for me.

Let’s jump into the items included in the August 2021 ASOS Beauty Box…

Hairburst Volume and Growth Elixir – Deluxe Size 40ml

A handy little all in one product, designed to pr0mote hair growth, increase strength and reduce hair loss too. This also contains heat pollution and UV protection . This is a little less than a third of the size of a full size bottle, it’s still enough to try and decide whether it’s worth the price to purchase, however as someone with a lot of long and densely packed fine hair I find I go through products like this quickly and the price point is quite high for me unless I see results quickly, however small size all in one hair products are fabulous for holidays and weekend getaways, I might keep this aside for an upcoming week away needing to pack fairly light!

Oh K! Skin Clarifying Leopard Print Sheet Mask – Full Size £4.00

Whilst I don’t often buy one off masks any more, trying to avoid single use products and be eco-concious, I do still enjoy using them when they fall into my possession. This is a mask to help soothe breakouts which *touch wood*, now I’ve hit my thirties are getting fewer and father between and I can count the number of spots I’ve had on one hand in 2021, however I’ll be slipping this into my skincare cupboard and keeping it in my arsenal for the next blemish attack!

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue – Deluxe Size 3ml

Charlotte Tilbury is a brand that I have an odd relationship with – I love anything pillow talk lips (more on that another day!), but everything else I’ve tried from the brand has fell a little flat for me. Despite that, their skincare has escaped me and it hasn’t stopped the skincare junkie in me from wanting to try some bits. Whilst the 3ml size feels a little measly – the full size is 15ml at £42, so a fifth of the size and a decent value still, again it’s another product I’m happy to keep aside for the upcoming trip for something skinny and lightweight. I should know after a few days what I think of the formula and this should last me a good couple of weeks I would guess. I’ve had a quick poke at the texture and notice it’s a gel cream that still manages to feel quite luxurious and nourishing on application, I’m intrigued to try it!

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser – Full Size £8.99

Cetaphil and Cerave are two brands I’ve wanted to try – and finally I can at least tick off Cerave. A two in one body and face cleanser leaves me feeling a little nervous and curious to see whether one product can properly nourish and care for both well.

REN Perfect Canvas Jelly Cleanser – Full Size £25.00

This was the item I knew I liked having tried it several times before in deluxe sized tubes and I knew it was a cleanser that was easy to use in the shower. Whilst I have plenty of cleansers in my cupboard, I like something in a nice easy tube or pump to use on my face in a formula that doesn’t need to be fantastic at removing makeup (as it’s rare I’m wearing any when I get in the shower) but something that leaves my face soft, smooth and cleansed. This REN cleanser does all of these and will likely be the next thing I pop into the shower when my current cleanser is finished.

Overall a great ASOS Beauty Box this month I think. I think for the box they’ve included two “face cleansers” in a weekend getaway box, where a mascara, a small eyeshadow palette or a multi-use balm could have been a good thing in the place of the REN cleanser – however, the Perfect Cleanser Jelly Cleanser is one that made the box very “worth it for me”.

This box sold out quickly, but they have another tempting box here (affiliate link) for £20 with even more goodies inside should you be tempted by a treat!

The REN jelly cleanser sounds fun, does it lather up? I’m intrigued by Cetaphil and Cerave too, I’m very careful with what I cleanse my face with and can’t use a lot of products on my body as my skin is on the sensitive side. I’d love to try makeup from Charlotte Tilbury – the brand is launching on the NZ/Oz equivalent of Sephora so I’m excited to see what the prices will be and what products will be available!

The Ren cleanser is like a gel formula that feels quite balmy, doesn’t really lather at all – it feels more like a gel on the skin.
I’m surprised it’s taken tilbury so long to launch over with you, I’m a big fan of the pillow talk lip range (it’s like my original mac brave), but I do think it’s quite overpriced on quality personally. I know Pat McGrath is expensive but for me I find it justified because everything feels quite unique, but Charlotte Tilbury is all very basic in colours IMHO and easily dupable elsewhere and the quality doesn’t hit the same spot!

I got an August Ipsy and I wasn’t impressed. Then, I found out that Ipsy is going to raise the box from $25 to $28 USD and it was no longer worth it compared to Boxycharm. I am waiting for my August Boxycharm and I am excited for all the nice products that will be in it. Ipsy has more indie brands, while Boxycharm has more prestige brands at the $25 price tag.

I’ve always been jealous of US boxes, I think you tend to get much better things than we do here! Boxycharm has always been the one that has caught my eye most though!
