The Pro Hygiene Collection Makeup Brush Cleaner Review

The Pro Hygiene Collection Makeup Brush Cleaner Review

The Pro-Hygiene range isn’t one that I’ve heard of before spotting it on Feel Unique, but after seeing that most of the products were really well reviewed I decided trying the Pro Hygiene Collection Makeup Brush Cleaner was worth a shot of trying and I’m glad that I did.

Whilst this range has a very stripped back pro MUA feel I think there’s something to be said about the packaging of this line, it’s very simple, but the quality of the plastic just feels a bit cheap. Whilst I’m sure most MUA’s won’t care when you end up selling direct to the general public the £10 price tag feels quite high compared to high street options and it could go a little way into feeling like you get more for your money.

I sprayed one to three spritzes of Pro Hygiene Collection Makeup Brush Cleaner on eye brushes depending on how fluffy the brush was and how much pigment seemed to be on the brush. For the most part that was enough to restore the brush back to it’s former clean glory looking good as new, however some more stubborn pigment colours such as pinks, purples and reds it didn’t seem to remove all of the staining to the bristles, whilst it did manage to get it back to being usable again.

I was happy to see that this even removed stubborn gel liner from Maybelline which is fantastic but can be a real bitch to remove from brushes and gets really cakey. I didn’t even need to do these more than once over, which even my usual favourite deep cleaner (Dr Bronner’s Magic Soap, which I mentioned in my haul with this I’m finding impossible to find anywhere any more) struggles to dissolve with ease.

The brushes dried almost immediately and were good to use within a minute. The cleaner is listed as cleaning up to 99.9% of bacteria, removing pigment conditioning and  I’ve tried to look up the ingredients for this as the bottle didn’t list them. Linalool is an ingredient I look out for a lot as it’s composed of many essentials oils including lavender which I’m allergic too, this either evaporates with the alcohol or it’s in such low quantity that luckily it doesn’t effect me.

Ingredients
Alcohol Denat. Isopropyl Myristrate, Aqua, Linalool, Citrius edica Limonum, Coumarin, Methyl 2-Octynoate, Hydroxycitronellal

I was worried I was going though this really quickly, and of course spot cleaning isn’t as economical as deep cleaning with a balm or shampoo, however for convenience and immediate drying I don’t mind as long as I’m not getting two uses out of the bottle. My collection was dirty top to toe and I thought I was going to have used up a lot, after 52 Eye brushes and 24 Face Brushes (blush, stippling, powder etc), pleasantly I was surprised to see that I’d only used up around a fifth of the bottle.

So far I’m impressed with the Pro Hygiene Collection Makeup Brush Cleaner, but you’ll get a full run down in my empties as whether I would repurchase this, for now it’s a welcome addition to my dressing table as a way to quickly clean my brushes.

I’ve never heard of this brand but intrigued to hear how you get on with continued use! I love the freedom brush cleanser, it’s bloody wonderful but it’s more for deep cleaning than anything else! Xx

I’ve had that in the past before and loved it I just don’t seem to have time to wait for them to dry at the moment, or if I do cleaning my brushes isn’t a priority!

I hate cleaning my brushes, but I’m nearly out of my No7 spot cleaner so I’m in the market for a new one. I am debating the MAC one though as it counts to back to mac!

Never heard of this brand. Here in the States I like getting the Cinema Secrets or Face Secrets quick brush cleaners. They’re both pretty fab. Cinema Secrets can be spendy though. I’m currently out of both though, so I’ve resorted to my old method of water and a big bar of Zote laundry soap (can get it for around $1 or so) and that does the job for a good deep cleaning. For my sponges I use baby shampoo or a clarifying (clear in color) shampoo.

I always here amazing things about cinema secrets, we can’t get it at all here! Not thought about using a clarifying shampoo before that’s a good idea! For a deep clean one at the moment I’ve got an all natural shampoo which I was sent to review and hated on my hair but works really well for cleaning brushes!
