A Very ‘Nailcessary’ Haul

Yesterday I blogged about my new favourite Maybelline Dr Rescue Topcoat, and I’ve been using it so much over the past 6 weeks that it’s almost on it’s only got about 1 more use left in it. I’ve been in to 3 Boots and a Superdrug and all have been out of stock of it. I decided to hop into my local CCO store yesterday to see what they had on offer there until I can re-find my new favourite, and walked away with more than just a topcoat!

My local CCO has just started selling gel polishes in addition to their normal brand line up. I bought myself a Sensational Deluxe Kit which came with 2 colours and a base/top coat, and I’ve only used it a handful of times because I only like one of the colours in the kit. Getting a few more has been on my hit list of things to do, but I’ve just not got round to it, and I wanted to get something for my holidays in a few weeks so I don’t need to worry about repainting whilst away – and indulged in the massive discounts that my CCO had and got a few options.

Sensationail Little Gold Dress & White Lily – £3.99 Each – In Boots £16.99 Each

What a massive bargain! I had to get myself a couple of these at such a great discount. Little Gold Dress is one which I’ve been eyeing for a while, and is a pretty gold shimmer with a subtle sparkle running through it. I took a gamble that White Lily would hopefully be opaque white and not sheer (as I didn’t have a phone on me to google in the shop) – and luckily swatches suggest it is. I love white nails especially with a tan so this is a strong contender.

Sally Hansen Gel Polish – Karat Cake & Glisten Up! – £3.99 Each – £5 RRP

I bought some gel strips from Sally Hansen last year and they lasted really well on my nails, so I’m hoping these will be the same. Glisten up is a beautiful charcoal glitter which will be nice running into Autumn and Winter. Karat Cake on the packaging looks like a champagne/creamy glitter this was the one I was planning to wear, but I’ve googled swatches and it appears to be more of a gold topcoat, I’m going to give this a test over little gold dress to see how it comes out, but this might be nice over the white or just with a bit of sparkle at the tips of polish – either way, I’ll probably find a way to wear it. It’s a shame it doesn’t seem to be as it looks on the packaging as it’s quite unusual!

W7 Polish – Black (£2.99) and Rapid Shine Topcoat (£3.99)

I know what you’re thinking, you must have lots of black polishes in your collection, but you’re wrong, I don’t have a single black polish which doesn’t have any glitter or shimmer running through it. I don’t love black polish on me,  but I’ve been dying to do some pretty neon and black patterns with my nail vinyls and just wanted something cheap to do the job. W7 polishes normally have decent coverage/opacity for the price, so fingers crossed this is up to the job. Finally what I went in for – I was torn between trying Kensington HIgh Street from Nails Inc (not a brand I generally love, but is well loved by many a beauty lover) and one from W7 – I decided to try this one as it claims to dry within 60 seconds, and I like topcoats to dry as fast as possible!

Classics Pump It Up Nail Polish Remover – £1.99

I also had it my head that I was running out of nail polish remover, and it was lucky I got it when I did as I ran out last night! I’ve not heard of this brand before, but it was cheap – and I’d never tried something which has this type of application method where you place the cotton pad onto the top and press down. This is also refillable so even if what’s inside is crap – I can refill with a decent remover and reuse it!

I went to use glisten up last night but discovered I’ve lost my gel cleanser off to pop out to get some today so I can use tonight! X
