My New Hand Hero – Crabtree and Evelyn Hand Recovery

Crabtree and Evelyn Hand Recovery

For the past six months or so I’ve been battling problems with my hands – I’ve had really bad dryness especially around my cuticles that hand cream alone had been unable to solve. When Crabtree and Evelyn contacted me about doing an instagram ad (this blog post is not sponsored!) to promote their Everyday Wellbeing range, I spotted the Crabtree and Evelyn Hand Recovery and I was immediately hopeful that this could be the product that could cure some of my issues.

Crabtree and Evelyn Hand Recovery comes from the Rosewater and Pink Peppercorn range as part of their Everyday Wellbeing Line. There are six different scents within the line which all focus on different areas – the Rosewater and Pink Peppercorn range is for hydrating.

The box that this arrived in was the first I’d seen since Crabtree and Evelyn have re-branded and repacked their products and I was so impressed. The box was a raw card feel with slight debossed lettering on the outside that made it lovely and luxe feeling in the hand. The simple coral pink and white packaging is sleek and eye-catching. Which followed through nicely to the tube itself which has a soft touch feel.

Crabtree and Evelyn Hand Recovery

Crabtree and Evelyn Hand Recovery is a bit of a hybrid product that belongs sitting sink-side. It’s a shea-based cream hand scrub that delivers a layer of moisturiser whilst you massage into your hands which exfoliates at the same time. It’s hard not to notice the rose scent as soon as the lid is flicked back – I always say I’m fussy when it comes to rose scents, having it been something I grown up around thanks to my parents business I know what’s real and what’s too synthetic smelling and this one is perfect. The pink peppercorn gives it a slight different note but the prominent note is definitely the rose.

The product on the surface looks just like a hand cream and it isn’t until you start massaging it into the skin that the scrub becomes noticeable, the cream sheers out and sinks into the skin quite quickly leaving the scrub behind. From what I can tell from the ingredients list the scrub itself is ground peppercorns – but I am not 100% sure on that. The scrub is such a fine texture that doesn’t melt down which makes it really easy to work around the hand and massage around concentrating on the areas which are the driest – which in my case was the areas around the cuticles.

After around a minute or two massaging in, I rinse the product away by rubbing my hands together and can instantly feel a nice balmy feeling the scrub rubs away easily and doesn’t find itself lodged in the nooks and crannies around the nails and cuticles. Once the hands are rinsed away and dry the scent of the product lingers on the hands, I noticed that my hands felt soft and smooth and when inspecting those dry areas they were so noticeably different. I wish I’d taken some before and after pictures but honestly? I was kinda not expecting to see much difference from the first use and thought I would be able to do it before the next time round and monitor it over a few weeks – but things easily better with every use and the time between uses is decreasing. To start I was using this every 5 or so days and I’m now at the point where I’m using it every 7-10 (depending on how much home DIY I’ve needed to balance out!).

This has been the perfect product to get my hands back into a reasonable shape and the more I’m using it the more improvement I notice. At £18 for 100ml this isn’t a cheap product and you can find some trial size versions at £8 for 25ml (it doesn’t take a mathematician to work out that the full size is the better deal, but does offer you a good-sized product to try or travel with), but it seems to be having a reasonably steady use so far and I can certainly see it becoming a staple for me in winter and an occasional treat in summer.

What are your favourite products for keeping your hands soft and smooth?

Product was sent for free as part of an Instagram Ad campaign which was sponsored, however I was under no-obligation to post about it on my blog and nor have I been paid to do so. Thoughts as always are my own.

I completely feel your pain! 🙁 I have been having issues with my hands since I moved to London. I am pretty sure it is the water quality, but anyway… I am glad that the product worked so well for you. I also tried the Gardner kit from the brand which I loved and helped me with my issue. However, what I noticed is that, for me at least, changing hand products helps. After a while, I stop noticing any improvements and then I need to rotate. So at any time, I have around 4-5 hand creams that I am using, each for a few days. The brands I love include this one (of course), L’Occitane, Scottish Soap Company, Byredo, Elizabeth Arden (despite the horrible smell). Hope everything is good now!

My hands are usually brutally dry and my cuticles are terrible, so this might work! I also love rose scents, but not ALL rose scents. Thanks for the post!
