Current Favourites – May 2016

I don’t do favourites style posts very often on my blog and I’m not entirely sure why. Moving forward I’ll definitely try and add a few more of these in, I think I’ve only ever done 2 in 2 years! There has been a real selection of products that have stood out to me in the past month – or even just week in the case of one and I wanted to share them with you.

Makeup Geek I’m Peachless Eyeshadow

current-favourites-makeup-geek-im-peachless

From my first ever order of Makeup Geek products this has been a surprise favourite – this is a shade that I can’t put down. Swatches of this on the arm do not do it justice but it’s a pretty peach/peach pink duochrome which catches the light beautifully and is a perfect shade for spring. I find it works better over a base to just make the skinnish tone in it properly pop. I’d love to see how this looked on darker skintones, I can see this just being a shade I use all summer long, bring on a tan! The darker slightly more pink shade Mai Thai is now also on my list to get.

W7 The Naughty Nine Palette

This little dupe from W7 has had a lot of love from me (and attention online!) since I posted it as a dupe for the MAC Amber Times Nine palette. When I’ve been resisting reaching for MUG I’m Peachless, I’ve been reaching for this instead (or a duo of the two). Budget friendly, great pigmentation and even better than a mediocre MAC palette that costs 10 times more (you can see that post/comparison here),

Babyliss Boutique Curler

current-favourites-babyliss-boutique-wand

The Babyliss curling wands have been my hair tool of choice for many years. I’ve had this one for a couple of years but it has never been the one I’ve reached for all that often. When I first got it my hair in truth was a bit too short to use this big barrelled curler, but now it’s perfect for giving me very soft curls which fall out to waves through the day. It’s enough to make my hair look done and neat – but without going for the super curly look – more like a nice blowdry. Unlike my other Babyliss curlers I don’t find that these last days in my hair, I think if my hair was a little longer it would start lasting a few days.

TheBalm Schwing

When I got this eyeliner I wasn’t blown away by it, I was going through a stage where I was working in an office during Christmas for a retailer and we were busy, early starts meant I was reaching for cream eyeshadows and this just doesn’t sit well on top of those (unless you wait for it to completely dry as I’ve since discovered). Fast forward a few months and I don’t want to reach for anything else, I’ve had this since November and it’s the one which I’ve reached for on an almost daily basis and it’s still not showing signs of being close to drying up or near it’s end. For a matte black line that’s easy to control I wouldn’t look anywhere else, Holy grail status.

Freedom Ambient

current-favourites-freedom-pro-highlight-ambient

I bought a variation of the Freedom Pro Highlight that I’ve loved so much since December. It’s been a true go to so naturally it was time to try another from the line. Ambient is a much more subtle highlight – that just adds a really soft glow all over the face. A product which has been on the review list for a while and is a top priority. Look out for one soon!

Kat Von D Lock It Foundation

current-favourites-kat-von-d-lock-it-foundation

I think this might have been my favourite beuaty purchase from New York and might be my favourite foundation that I’ve ever tried. Long wearing, high coverage, non cakey and doesn’t go greasy. You can see just how much I’ve used already – I love that it squeezes out every single drop of product from the side. Another product that has been in the review pile for a while, I just need to get it written up and photographed on ma’ face.

Sunday Riley Luna

I won’t talk too much about this now as I have a review of this going up over the next week or so. I don’t want to love this product as it’s so darn expensive, but I did genuinely see an overnight change in my skin from using this. Look out for a full review

Body Shop Blue Corn Mask

current-favourites-the-body-shop-blue-corn-face-mask

I think this mask is my favourite ever and I’ve tried a lot of different face masks over the past year. With soft scrubby particles and drying down to a heavy clay this really helps draw out impurities and banish stubborn blackheads. I’ve already posted a review of this and it’s something I’m still reaching for a on a weekly basis.

Eylure Fleur De Force Couture Fleur Individual Lashes

   current-favourites-fleur-de-force-eylure-couture-fleur-individual

I’ve had these in my box of totally untouched, never actually reached for box of lashes since Fleur launched her lash line with Eylure last year. Last weekend I went to a wedding and was missing the fact I don’t  have lash extensions on at the moment as I’m resting my lashes for a few weeks, I decided to give these a go and I’m wowed by them, they’re classes as weekend lash with a glue included that 2-3 days (yep they even survive cleaning the eye area I’ve tried), and they 100% work, I’ve been adding a few extra lashes a day all week to keep them topped up and fluttery all week.

The pack also contains a fluid should you want to remove them, which I haven’t tried yet. When looking forward they add a really natural but full look to the lashes, when you look down they’re not completely undetectable like lash extensions but they don’t look horrendous either. I’ve already picked up another box as I have one of my best friend’s hen party this weekend and want to keep them topped up until then! I’ll post a full review of these next week once I’ve had chance to try the remover fluid!

Victoria’s Secret Love Addict

current-favourites-love-addict-victorias-secret

Last but by no means least is the Love Addict Spray from Victoria’s Secret. Firstly the repackaged bottles of these are absolutely gorgeous. A nice piece of dressing room eye candy sitting right there. Secondly I love this scent, it’s bright and perfect for spring with notes of orchid and blood orange. I love this by itself as well as layering with other perfumes to add a different level.

Let me know what your current favourites are, I’d love to hear!

Love this post. Just stumbled across your blog and I’m not sure how I haven’t found you yet! Need more blogging gals to follow on twitter too so will check you out. I have the same babyliss curling wand – it’s amazing. When it arrived in the post I actually forgot I ordered it and the shape of it was a little alarming hahah. Great blog xx

Have you seen the Essence Make Me Brow? It’s very much like the Benefit Gimme Brow. I don’t know how well the Benefit one works but I love the Essence one! Do try it if you come across it.

    Lovely picks!

To make your curls last a few days, try pinning them up as soon as you take them out of the wand, and removing the pins just before you walk out the door! It will be a more curly look the first day, but will take a little longer to settle into waves so you should get an extra day or two out of them!

    • If I have time I do do that. Normally I have less than 10 minutes after finishing to walking out the door! I normally spray them won spray and wait until I’m walking out the door to comb them through with my fingers ☺️

I’m not surprised to see the Sunday Riley Luna oil in your list of favourites! 😉 Looking forward to that review.
I can’t wait to try that Freedom Pro Highlight powder!
