OPI Silent Stars Go By – Mariah Carey Holiday 2013 Collection – Review and Swatch

I’m not a huge fan of OPI’s liquid sand formulation or the textured nail polish look – but the colour is what swung this for me – I bought this in Sally’s on Oxford Street as I was strolling past on a trip down to London in the shop it definitely looked like a rose gold glitter. But in different natural and artificial lights it can sit anywhere between a rose gold, champagne and nude. This was definitely my favourite polish that I picked up over the festive season. As both a glitter and rose gold fan when my eyes struck eyes on this I knew I had to have it.

I prefer to finish with Seche Vite top coat to make it super glittery – however it does just absorb the topcoat like a sponge and and only needs 1 coat to make it look glossy and whilst not completely smooth, you can’t tell. I tend to give the polish itself just one coat, you can go for two but for me it doesn’t really add anything. As it’s limited edition and I can see me giving it a lot of use – I’ll be making it go further having discovered it also looks great as an accent nail too.
As with all glitter polishes its a huge hassle to remove – but what’s life without a bit of glitter?
Don’t let the festive name put you off, if you love glitter polishes or rose gold and you can still find this in stores it’s definitely worth picking up.
