A few weeks ago I saw a video from Bride de Force about wedding nails from Essie, which I thought was totally lovely take for wedding nails. You can watch that video here: Bridal Beauty – Nails.
When I picked up on a silver platter from essie last week, I also spotted ‘Set In Stones’ which was used in that tutorial and decided to try it out…
For the amount of times I actually use a very natural colour like Essie Allure, I couldn’t warrant picking Allure up, especially when I knew I had my OPI Bubble Bath at home which would substitute in well.
I applied a base coat, followed by 2 coats of OPI Bubble Bath, allowing to dry in-between. Next up is set in stones, applying one thin coat from about two thirds of the way down the nail, then once try apply a second thicker coat from a third of the way up. Once dried I also just applied a few fragments to the tips of the nails to really amp up the glittered ombre effect.
Set In Stones itself is pure silver glitter made up of smaller and larger hexagonal shapes, while its not something that appears particularly unusual, I don’t have anything in my collection like it, and nor can I think of one which is pure silver with a mix of sizes.
I tested trying to get this polish opaque and after 3 coats it still wasn’t quite there, I think if you were looking to create a pure silver glitter look, I don’t think this is the polish for you as this does work better as a top coat.
I think this would be a perfect look for a fun wedding day nails, if you’re like me and usually opt for bright in your face nails, but would prefer to tone it down on your wedding day or for a special event, but you’re not really a french manicure kind of girl then this look could be for you. (Not that I’m getting married yet, but a girls gotta plan her manicure in advance!)
