What's In My Handbag: Carry On/Travel Edition

1 day til I fly! 1 weeks all inclusive holiday in marmaris is approaching. Plus no more work for 10 days, the thing I am most excited about, I haven’t had more than 4 days off (including weekends) since November last year! There’s lots of prescheduled posts whilst I’m away, but probably no comments or replies.

This is what I’m carrying on board, besides the obvious things such as passport, tickets and travel money + everything my boyfriend gives me that he can’t be bothered to carry.

Michael Kors Jet Set Bag

I treated myself to this bag when I left my last job, as I had lots of sales commission, pay rise and bonuses come in on my final pay-check, so treated myself to this. This came from Bicester village, and I don’t think it’s a style you can get easily in shops, I actually prefer this to the usual jet set styles for everyday use, the straps are a little thicker, so if you’re like me and lug way too much around it’s a bit easier on the shoulder. The saffiano leather is very hard-wearing and durable, and apart from a little fraying in the corners on the bottom, and a few cracks on the strap, it’s about 18 months old, so a little wear and tear should be expected. I love this bag, and I am planning on buying another one, having seen how well it’s lasted the price is worth it, I’ve just yet to decide on colour. I will take another smaller bag with me, for daily use, but this will be great for the airport, and lugging extra bits home that no doubt I won’t be able to squeeze in the case.

An essential for any holiday for me now, I’m not very good at sitting still – so having a book on me will help me sit still and relax on holiday. I particularly like having a kindle as it’s smaller than carrying around a book, and if you want something different to read than you have, it’s easy to download something using the hotels wifi! I’ve got several books downloaded, but I don’t know what I’m going to read yet. I’ve got a Dorothy Koomson book which I’ve been trying to finish since Christmas (love all her other books, just can’t get into this one), the Divergent series, the Uglies series by Scott Westerfield and We Were Liars by E Lockhart. Any last minute recommendations for great easy reading books would be appreciated!

Michael Kors Purse

Complimenting the bag, I’ve had this Michael Kors Purse for a over 2 years, and I still love it. I’m unsure of what this style is called – but was bought from net a porter, and is again a saffiano leather. I keep meaning to give this a proper clean as a drink leaked in my bag and looks a little dirty in patches, but was a beautiful camel shade before becoming a bit dirty looking!

Sunglasses x 3

I have a confession – I lose sunglasses. So much so, I can’t warrant buying expensive pairs any more (I lost a pair of Raybans, and 2 pairs of Diesel sunglasses in one summer). I bought all of these a few weeks ago from Outfit (I think they were all either Dorothy Perkins or Topshop), being end of season I got these at a bargain of £2-3 per pair.

Panasonic Lumix G2 SLR Camera

I finally found it hidden in the last of my unpacked boxes! So hopefully I can start getting some better images from now on! I only have one lens for this camera, but I am tempted to see if I can pick up another at the airport, as I know there’s a dixons there. I love the camera, but It’s a fairly mid-range lens, which isn’t amazing on doing zooming on things in the distance, or pictures that are close up, so possibly finding one that fulfils one of those new qualities would great.

Phone & Headphones

Fairly self explanatory! I had my iphone 5s replaced a few days ago (screen went dodgy!) so this ones all shiny and new, with a picture of my pooch as I’ll miss him whilst I’m away!

Face wipes & Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturiser

I’m not planning on wearing any makeup to the airport or on the plane, but these will be great to freshen up, as we will leave earlyish morning, but not arrive at our hotel to about 10-11pm. I have a sample of Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturiser (amazing if you didn’t know), which I’ve been saving for this very occasion – I’ll use on the plane too to stop that pesky air con dehydrating my skin, and should be more than enough to last a whole week without the need for a massive bottle – win!

Tangle Teaser

This is battered and bruised, as I’ve had it for 3 or so years. I don’t know how people live without one, it’s always in my bag, and this is no exception. The easiest way for me to rake through my perpetually knotty hair. This is going to be the best thing to have handy on the beach too.

In the airport I will pick up some magazines, but don’t want to lug them around until I’m about to board the plane. I’m also taking my blogging notepad with me, just incase inspiration strikes whilst I am away to jot a few ideas down!

What are your carry on essentials? And please let me know of any books you would recommend for holidays

A kindle is a must have for me on holiday, I don’t do just sitting/laying around, I get bored. At one point this year in Portugal I was going through a book a day! As for book recommendations, it depends on what you like. I usually go for easy reading when I’m on holiday, which for me means sci-fi and fantasy stuff aimed at teenagers. So I’ve read the Divergent series and it was pretty good. If you like things kind of like that then the Mortal Instruments series and the Beautiful Creatures series are good. 🙂 xxx

Yes, also a fan of books for teenagers, especially series! I just watched the divergent movie and found it very hunger Gamesy – which I love so do have that downloaded! I think I’ve ended up downloading 7 new ones plus any that I already had on there – so hopefully at least one of those will work at least!
