Jennifer Lopez Promise Perfume Review

Jennifer Lopez Promise Perfume

[Gifted by Superdrug] It’s been a while since I owned a celebrity perfume, back in my teens I loved the likes of the Paris Hilton fragrances, I remember my sister having a penchant for Britney’s line – but I’ve not every really gravitated towards them in my twenties. At the Blogosphere festival I was handed a large tote bag full of goodies from Superdrug, and inside was a bottle of the Jennifer Lopez Promise perfume, so I decided to give it a try!

The bottle I was gifted was the 30ml bottle, the outer box has a soft texture and slight sheen on the off white box with foiled rose gold lettering, it doesn’t feel cheap or budget at all and is quite chic looking! The box on this is fairly large so I was expecting quite an extravagant looking bottle, maybe with a fancy large stopper, but when I got it out I was surprised at just how dinky it was, it would have fit in a box that was a fifth of the size!

I actually had to check that this was definitely a 30ml bottle as even compared to others in my collection it just felt super duper dinky – but they have clearly kept the glass slimline which actually makes it a good perfume for overnight bags and travel. Despite the tiny size they didn’t actually skimp on the design, the bottle is really pretty with a jewel like faceted shard design and rose gold detailing. It kind of reminds me of the Rose Gold perfume from Marks and Spencers that was a limited edition summer scent a few years ago. The cap on the Jennifer Lopez Promise perfume mimics it’s bottle with a similar pillow cut shape in a chrome rose gold finish. And once the cap is removed you can see “Promise” etched around the mister, it’s a nice simple touch.

The Jennifer Lopez Promise perfume is quite a balanced fragrance which has fresh-fruity, warm and floral notes – the base notes on it are the ones which linger most prominently which means that overall I find that the fragrance leans slightly warm out of the three. The top notes are tangerine, pink berries and pear which offer an initial boost of fresh-fruity notes, whilst the mid notes of jasmine and honeysuckle become easily noteworthy as warmer noted florals. The warm base notes of amber, sandalwood and cashmere add a cosy vibe to the fragrance which I personally like a lot at this time of year, but it’s not a fragrance that I would use exclusively in Autumn and Winter and I think I could still see myself using it frequently going into spring and summer.

This is quite a soft perfume which holds it’s own ground on the skin, so would be good for people who can’t tolerate really strong fragrances or like fragrances to be a bit more subtle for every day, whilst still being a little noticeable. Now longevity, this is okay – it’s not the most long lasting perfume that I’ve ever tried, but equally I wouldn’t have expected that at the price point this perfume comes in at, I’ve worn this 3/4 times a week over the past 3 weeks and I can still smell it on myself after around 6 hours but find that after that it starts to be a little less noticeable unless I’m directly smelling my skin (and who does that!).

Jennifer Lopez Promise Perfume review

Overall, I do enjoy using this and think it’s a good perfume if you don’t like to spend a huge amount on fragrances or like having cheaper options for every day. But it’s not a perfume for me I would rush to repurchase once it’s finished as there are other fragrances combinations which are more “me” as I lean more towards gourmands, but I will be happily using it up.

Have you tried the Jennifer Lopez Promise perfume and do you have any celebrity perfume favourites?

Perfume gifted in goodie bag from Superdrug, but I was under no obligation to review.

The bottle and packaging are really pretty! The notes in this perfume sound good too, glad you’re enjoying it! Don’t think I’ve tested a JLo fragrance before x

This sounds really nice, I like the detail on the bottle too. I used to use one she did, I think it was called still or something like that, but everyone I knew used glow, it was the perfume that always makes me think of school discos!

Glow was such a school disco perfume, I remember a few of my friends in school it was “their perfume” so it was never one I had because it was something I associated with them!

I remember that blue Britney fragrance~~~ never owned any celebrity fragrance though, somehow I always ended up with something else. Issey Miyaki was my go to for like 5 years when I was in high school.

Yes my sister had the blue one that looked like a diamond! I moved very swiftly on from celebrity fragrances to very grown up Dior Pure Poison and Chanel Chance aged 16, they feel a bit too grown up for me now, so I’m not sure how I was enticed as a teen!

😂 either the bottle or the advert? My first fragrance was Elysium by Clarins. I still want it but they have discontinued it. 😔 after that was Issey Miyake for many years.

Ooh I don’t think I’ve heard of that, I always forget that Clarins make perfume actually!

The current Clarins fragrances either makes one smells like a guy or just got out of oil massage. It is better that you forget about them 😅

They discontinued their best one 😑 which was floral and memorable. The bottle was frosted glass organic shaped (leave looking 🤔). Anyways, it pisses me off that they always discontinue the stuff that I love 😭
