ASOS Vegan Beauty Box – May 2019

It’s been a while since I last purchased a beauty box and I realised this week that I hadn’t checked in on ASOS’ offering for a while. For those who don’t know ASOS offer sporadic monthly boxes, I’ve had a few in the past, I think this is my fourth. Sometimes they seem to follow a theme, but they always seem to offer relatively good value for money and I found this month a bit of a mixed bag.

The theme of this edition was vegan – a lifestyle that I do not practice in terms of food, but I do enjoy knowing when a beauty brand or product is vegan friendly, and it’s something I’m trying to make myself more aware of. This month’s edition tempted me in for one product which had a retail value of £23, everything else in the box was an added bonus, as the box retails for just £12. Personally, I don’t find this the most exciting array of products that I’ve seen from them, but if you’re vegan this may be a nice treat in a market that rarely offers vegan beauty boxes in the mainstream.

Miss Patisserie Matcha Bath Ball
A lot of you will know I’m not a massive bath person. I occasionally will keep a bath bomb around on a rare occasion that I fancy one, or if I know I’m going to a hotel with a particularly large and deep bath where my lanky legs may get to enjoy a less smushed up bath. Miss Patisserie is a brand that’s becoming more easily accessible, but not a brand I’d tried anything from. This has a nice zesty scent and packed a real punch when I opened the box up for the first time!

bareMinerals Mineral Veil Powder
This was the star of the show for me, I’d noticed the same day I seemed to be getting close to finishing my last two powders, so I thought this would be worthwhile picking up! It normally has a £23 price point and it’s a full size, so I’m happy to have snagged this in a box for £12! This is a popular cult favourite powder and if it’s your favourite it’s well worth picking up this box.

Love, Beauty and Planet Shea Velvet Body Lotion
A brand that I’ve been curious about for a while has been Love Beauty and Planet, but I’ve been more intrigued about their haircare this will still be a nice little introduction to the brand. I have so many moisturisers, but I find Shea a really relaxing scent and the added sandalwood in this is a welcome addition so I look forward to giving this a whirl.

We are Paradoxx Hangover Hair Elixir
This is a half sized trial sample from a brand I’d never heard of before; It’s definitely piqued my interest as the full size is shaped like a hip flask and this little mini sized one reminds me of miniature one shot hip flasks you can get in slightly posh crackers at Christmas. This product does seem to have some more mixed reviews online, it’s well reviewed on some websites and below average on others, so I’m curious to see how I end up finding it as one of the main ingredients is Irish Whiskey! Either way, I appreciate the efforts that went into it’s packaging. My current hair oil that I’ve been trying to finish is nearly empty and I bet this is the next one I decided to opt for as a treatment on wet hair.

Aveda Shampure Hand And Body Wash
Last but not least is this body wash from Aveda, a brand I’m not sure that I’ve tried anything from and funnily the first time I’d heard about this product was in a new in video by Fleur de Force the day the box arrived! This has a lovely woody spa like scent and I’ll keep this to hand I think for a weekend away we’ve got coming up in June.

Overall I’m fairly impressed with this edition – it’s not got the most exiting array of products, but it does have good quality “basics” across the board that would suit just about everyone. I’m particularly excited about the powder as it’s been on my list for a long time, and run through powders at the rate of about 1 a month, so stocking up never goes to waste! Whilst I am not Vegan, I enjoy knowing beauty products are and like I said at the beginning I’m becoming more conscious of these when purchasing, if you’re looking for a toe dip into the vegan beauty market – I think this is a pretty good place to start.

What do you think of this edition?

If you’re interested in snagging one for yourself, you can grab it here! It does ship to many countries worldwide, but not all – so it’s worth checking the list on the page!

  1. Vegan is a good idea for a box – it’s so in! I’m also trying to be more aware of these things too. I have a conditioner by love beauty & planet. I’ve not tried it yet but I will get round to it soon! X
