Colourpop It’s My Pleasure Eyeshadow Palette – Review, Looks & Swatches

Last year the Sol and Mar nine pan palettes from Colourpop became complete standouts to me. I loved their colourful monochromatic vibes and when I saw that Colourpop had further extended the line of colours available – I jumped and got them all (other than the brown sugar one, since I rarely wear browns at the moment!). Prior to their arrival I felt spoilt for choice at which to play with first, but as soon as they arrived and I opened them all I was incredibly drawn to the purple one – It’s my Pleasure.

I think one of the reasons I’ve been really drawn to this palette is because this is what I wanted the ABH Norvina eyeshadow palette to be. I loved the Norvina palette, but I wanted something that was more purple – and this delivered.

The packaging of this feels like they’ve refined them slightly since Sol and Mar were first released – previously they were in a matte white packaging with coloured foil writing on the outside, these have since been repackaged to match up with these other nine pan pressed powder shadow palettes. They’re now glossy in texture and are more brightly coloured which makes them more easily identifiable if you’ve got them all sat together in a pile – like I do!

The reason I’ve loved these palettes is because they’re fun colours that I’d say I’m unlikely to hit pan on (although there are shades in the Norvina palette I have hit pan on!). Whilst they’re small they’re cleverly packaged and perfect for travel – whilst still retaining enough colours to give you lots of variety.

The Colourpop It’s My Pleasure palette is predominately purple – but does edge out to complimenting mauve and pink undertones too which give some variety.

It’s My Pleasure Swatches

Kittenfish – A matte lilac with slight pink undertones
Do or Dough – A perfect lavender metallic which has tiny blue flecks  which give it a slight duochrome effect
Pretty Cruel – a matte mauve shade with gold micro glitter which doesn’t really translate in swatches or on the eye
Bare Minimum – A berry purple metallic
Earthshine – A light lavender with slight pink to blue duo chrome effect. semi sheer, layers okay to build opacity or can be used as a topper over other lighter shades
Chick Lit – A bright royal purple metallic
Mr Sandman – A warm heather gunmetal metallic
Fan Fiction – A blue toned pink matte
Sleeper – A dark rich berry purple matte

The Colourpop It’s My Pleasure palette has completely lived up to my hopes from my experience with it’s predecessors. The pigment of this eyeshadow palette is fantastic and they blend out really well. With the more metallic shades which have a more glittery texture, I find that these have the best longevity when used over a glitter glue primer, however they do apply nicely over a normal primer – they just retain a more sparkly appearance over a glitter primer.

Eyeshadow Look 1 – Lucky Lavender

Shades Used: 5 : Kitten Fish, Fan Fiction, Sleeper, Do or Dough, Earthshine

Kittenfish was applied throughout the crease, then I used some of Fan Fiction through the middle to outer corner then layering some of Sleeper on top which I dragged underneath the lash and mixed some kitten fish in across the centre bottom lash. I placed Do or Dough over the centre of the top lid, blending into the outer edge and from the inner corner into the centre lid with Earthshine.

Eyeshadow Look 2 – Frozen Blended Berry

Shades Used: Kittenfish, Fan Fiction, Mr Sandman, Pretty Cruel, Sleeper

I used Kittenfish through the crease but then used a lot of Fan Fiction layered over the crease too, only leaving it towards the inner corner. Fan Fiction was placed though the central to outer corner layering and mixing with Sleeper towards the outer corner. I then used Pretty Cruel from the centre lid towards the outer corner blending the berry metallic into the berry matte shade in the outer crease. I then used Mr Sandman on inner corner through to the centre corner mixing together with Pretty Cruel.

I can already see the Colourpop It’s My Pleasure palette is becoming a firm favourite through summer. Now I’ve reviewed it I was planning on moving onto the next palette to review – but I can’t seem to prize myself away from it yet, I’m having such fun playing with purples! It’s at a great price point if you want to experiment with colour and still want high pigment quality shadows. I’m hoping to see them expand the range into a red version (a favourite of me in autumn) and I’d also love to see a fully blue version – Mar was very much pops of blue with peaches, but I’d love a fully monochromatic palette with navy tones instead of dark browns.
