Ten Empties #27

Ten Empties #27

Well, it’s been pretty much a month since my last one of these. I think that’s finally proof that I do seem to be slowing down somewhat on consumption as I’m doing a pretty good job of concerntrating one one product type, beginning to end without having many multiples on the go which could be potentially finished up all at the same time. It’s another mixed bag this time around, wiht products from just about every category, and a fair few extras at the end too, so we’ll delve straight into this…

Bodycare

Molton Brown Jasmine & Sun Rose Shower Gel
A soft and sweet shower gel, it was a really decent deluxe size so did the job over several nights and weekends away. I’ve tried other premium shower gels I’ve preferred the fragrance of more than this, but I would use it if I was to get it in a beauty box again.
Repurchase? Nope.

Haircare

Bed Head Masterpiece Hairspray
I picked this up at the tail end of last year and this bottle has lasted me a good 4 months, I’ve moved onto a different hairspray that I was sent now instead, but I thought this was pretty nice. Just like the conditioner below, you can pick this up much cheaper than you can online from B&M. I’m fussy with hairsprays as most make me feel ill, this one did not and found it held curls well. However I found if it wasn’t brushed through it had a tendancy to make the hair look a little crispy. Definitely not the worst, but not the best either.
Repurchase? Maybe

Tigi Catwalk Honey and Oatmeal Conditioner
I won’t talk about this one in too much detail, since I just had another bottle of this in my last empties. This one definitely didn’t last me as long as the last bottle, however I had my in-laws stay over one weekend to look after the dogs whilst we was away, I noticed a significant dent in it when I came back, however – it was cheaper than the cost of kennels… so I can live with the use up!
Repurchase? Yes, definitely will do.

Fragrance

Shay and Blue Black Tulip Perfume (review)
This was definitely my day-to-day perfume over winter. I loved that it gave me similar vibes to my favourite Tom Ford Black Orchid, but with a less hefty price tag that didn’t make me feel guilty using it daily. If you’re interested it’s best to read my full in depth review where I cover the notes in more depth.
Repurchase? Yes, and I’d be intrigued to try more from the brand too!

Skincare

Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream
I thought I’d reviewed this, but turns out I never have formally! This is my second pot of this, it’s now been replaced as favourite by the M&S Absolute Sleep Cream instead of this, however it’s a good “no-frills” just performance moisturiser that I can always rely on doing the job and will happily use again in future.
Repurchase? Unlikely as my access to Kiehl’s is limited and I have approximately one million other moisturisers to keep me going for now.

Glamglow Gravity Mud Face Mask (review)
A recent review so I’ll skim over this, it definitely gave me more uses than most other Glamglow masks of the same size, it spread further. This however didn’t perform fanastically for me, I noticed little to no effect after using this, even with repeated use.
Repurchase? No

Vitamasques Multivitamin Sheet Mask (review)
Another recent Face Mask Friday, this was a really effective sheet mask that offered noticeable results. I’d definitely get this again if it was easier to get a hold of. If you like buying new brands of masks to try, I’d recommend giving the Vitamasques range a whirl. I have enough to keep me stocked up for a little longer!
Repurchase? Maybe, but no time soon!

Makeup

Pur Fully Charged Mascara (review)
Another recent review, I found this a pretty good mascara, harder work than I would have liked, but not enough to stop me using it. I would say however that it did seem to dry up pretty quickly, it turned from peak performance to dried up and past it within the space of a week, and that would put me off buying the full size as it only seemed to have a three week window.
Repurchase? Nopedy-nope.

Bobbi Brown Smoky Lash Mascara (review)
Probably one of the best mascara discoveries for me in the past few years. Lengthening, separating and volumising this is a fantastic all rounder. Unlike the Pur, I didn’t notice that this formula changed or dried up at all, I got a good few months use out of this.
Repurchase? Maybe in future, but for now, I have more than enough to try!

Seventeen Stay Time Concealer
This product is now discontinued but it was a finish up from my concealer stash – I don’t have many left which is fantastic news as there’s some I’ve been itching to try! This was good but nothing special – I didn’t get the hype that this concealer had personally. I also couldn’t pull the stopper of this out to use up the contents better, there’s loads at the top and bottom of this I just couldn’t reach.
Repurchase? Can’t!

Extras

Alien Fusion Perfume – An interesting twist on a very familiar fragrance. if you’re a fan of the original you might want to check this out for a perfume which will have the same nostalgia, but a different kind of vibe.

Maybeauty Nose Pore Strips – These went so hard on the nose and gave me false hope that it was going to tear any gunk out, however it did not. Rubbish.

Becca Primers – A sample I got at Christmas as part of my order. I’ve tried both of these before, I’d never buy them as they’re not my favourite formula, but I was happy enough to use them up!

Wilko Maxi Oval Cotton Pads x 2 Packets & Superdrug Cotton Wool Oval Pads x 2 Packets
4 packs finished in less than a month? Considering these were the first of the year I suppose that these were all on the go at the same time. These were very similar to each other and I liked them both, however – the Wilko ones are 4 x cheaper than the superdrug ones for the same size pack. Stocking up next time I go to Wilko!

Colgate Natural Extracts Charcoal Toothpaste – These are new and it was nice to find an affordable Charcoal toothpaste that is easily accessible. I found it pretty effective and would like to try this one for whitening on a longer term scale.

Colgate Natural Extracts Radiant White Toothpaste – from the same range as the above, this was good and was one which had a more scrubby texture which was good for making the gums and teeth feeling extra clean.

Regenerate Toothpaste – Similar to the one above with a more gritty texture. This seemed nice enough and I have another one to use up too I’m saving to the end of the month when I’m away for a weekend!

My empties spreadsheet is back again and I’ve started a fresh sheet for 2019 you can find it here should you want to track my progress or grab the template so you can also track your use ups! Should you want to check out the rest of my Ten Empties series, you can do here. I have finished almost £300 worth of things up so far this year – a definite way behind where I was last year, but not a displeasing number to see that it’s been money that’s been well spent.

Have you tried any of these before? Have you finished anything up recently, please let me know in the comments below!

Have you considered reusable cotton pads, you chuck them in the washing machine after each use. Granted they stain but it’s cheaper and better for the environment. I find reusable breast milk pads are the best

I do have some full reusable cloths, I just don’t like using them for nail polish etc (they get destroyed with the chemicals and don’t clean well)

It is so satisfying to use up all the products. I have the original Alien fragrance on my wish list and want to try the Kiehl’s cream. Lovely post with beautiful pictures Rachael. 🙂
