Create your Dream Beauty Box with Latest in Beauty

[Gifted] This beauty box was kindly gifted as a one off from Latest in Beauty. It’s been a while since I last purchased a Latest in Beauty Box, and funnily I’d been eyeing up February’s edition as I’d spied an email newsletter with an item that I’d been lusting after trying in this month’s edition. Two days later a message from Latest in Beauty landed in my inbox. Definitely fate, and boy – I’ve not been disappointed.

What I like about Latest in Beauty is that you can pick your own items for the box, there’s three different box levels for you to a different number of items per month. I was offered to try the biggest – the nine item box. What I like about the box is that there’s no limits about what you can pick – you can pick all full size items, and they have a selection of skincare, makeup, fragrance and haircare. You can pick what you fancy, and there’s so much selection there’s definitely a box which can be curated perfectly by you for you.

This month’s theme was Beauty Crush, themed around discovering brand new launches. They had new items arriving in the Build Your own shop daily – I ended up waiting a few days after my voucher arrived to place the order so I could wait until later in the week to get an item that I knew was launching later. Be aware though, some stock is limited and there won’t necessarily be the same items available the next day if they’ve been popular.

ARgENTUM Apothecary La Potion Infinie 14ml – worth £36
I definitely didn’t need to add another face cream to the stash I already had brewing, but when I saw the cost of this magic potion (the full size is £158 for 70ml!), I had to give it a whirl and see how good it could really be. The 14ml size is a generous size to trial and would last me a good few months. The reviews of this are pretty good online describing potent ingredients, I’m looking forward to giving it a whirl and seeing if it’s as good as the price tag would suggest.
Bee Good Youth Enhancing Hydrating Serum 10ml – worth £9.50
I’ve had a good relationship with Bee Good in the past, it’s not the easiest brand to get ahold of stocked online and in Waitrose (the nearest of which is 40 minutes from me!), I’ve been pretty limited to products I’ve tried in beauty boxes. I picked this primarily because it was a decent enough size, but not huge which made me think it would be a good thing to keep in my stash for taking on weekends away or holidays when I might not want a full size bottle of something. Again, 10ml is a good size to trial to find out if you like a product.
Nivea MicellAIR Skin Breath Micellar Water – worth £2.00
I quite often have the massive 700ml bottles of micellar water, which are not friendly to take anywhere out of the house whilst they might be more cost effective. I don’t think I’ve ever tried Nivea’s formula before so again I thought this would be a good thing to have aside for travelling with something that’s more practical sized than a family bottle of coke!
Soaper Duper Tuberose Handcream – worth £5.00
I’ve been dying to try Soaper Duper, I’ve wanted to try their body washes for a long time, but sadly they didn’t have any in the LIB store. I’ve neglected my hands horribly over the past few months and whilst I have plenty of hand creams in my stash I thought a new, shiny one that I can put on my desk at work might get my hands and cuticles in a better place within the next few weeks. I like Tuberose as a scent so it was a good choice for me too.
Soaper Duper Fruity Green Tuberose Body Scrub – worth £7.50
Whilst I have two Body Shop body scrubs in my stash at the moment, I thought it was good opportunity to a) try more from Soaper Duper, and b) top up my stash so I shouldn’t really have to buy a scrub until the winter. Again, in the same tuberose scent this will be lovely in summer and a nice mix up from the fruitier options I have in my shower at the moment.
Maybelline Tattoo Brow Tint Micro Pen Shade Medium Brown – worth £9.99
I picked this up on a bit of a whim – it was my last choice made on the site after I’d picked 8 others. This has very mixed reviews online, but given I’ve never tried a felt pen for the brows before I thought it would be worth a try to see if it’s something I’d potentially like more than a pencil. I’m normally a dark brown when it comes to pencils but I thought something I’m a bit less skilled in using I’d benefit from a lighter colour – I hope it doesn’t look live I’ve drawn light brows over my dark ones though!
Maybelline Snapscara Mascara – worth £7.99
This is Maybelline’s newest kid on the block and I’ve heard pretty good things about it, so when I saw that this was coming up in the daily releases over February, I decided to wait off ordering as I’d wanted to try it. My Bobbi Brown mascara is on it’s last legs and this is going straight in my drawer to replace and try it.
Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara (Deluxe Size)
MJ is a brand I’ve not tried enough from when it comes to beauty. I’ve seen this pop up in a few boxes before and I’ve never had opportunity to try it – but I thought as I’ve only seen good results in photos and positive reviews it had to be on my wishlist of items and was the first item in my basket. It’ll be next in line to try after Snapscara!
Kitsch Pearl Hair Ties in Blush and Mauve – worth ~£9.30

My hair tie stash was running a bit low and I like these fabricy, almost jersey ones as I find they don’t tend to kink the hair as much. I also liked the pearl details on this and though it would jazz up an often scruffy ponytail when I’m in a rush. They had grey tones as well as blush and mauve, I decided to go for the pinky ones as I’m debating going back pink after my sisters wedding in May!

Bonuses

Originally LIB made a mistake in sending the Soaper Duper Body Lotion instead of the Scrub, they kindly sent another one out and I got to keep the item sent in error, their customer service was very quick at sorting it out which was fab. As part of my original order I also received a free mini Batiste, not my favourite but I’ll take this away with me at the end of the month to my sister’s hen party. With my replacement order they also added another bonus in the box – a Gatineau Peeling Expert, which is a microdermabrasion cream.

Box Worth : £87.28 (not including the ‘bonus’ items listed)
Box Cost One Off Subscription (For 9 items) : £25.00
Rolling Subscription for 9 items : £18.00
As you can see from the above, this box offers fantastic value for money if purchasing as a one off. The one thing I would recommend is that when making selections you pay attention by clicking onto items to work out whether they’re sample sizes or full sizes, as often the pictures can trick you into thinking something is larger than it is. March’s edit is “the Glow Down” and there’s some fantastic products included in this month’s line up, there will also be some lingering choices I made in February still available as they don’t remove items from the store monthly – they wait until they have none left. Something else I really like as if you try something, there’s a chance you can pick up another backup the following month!
If you want to give the box a try for yourself there are three different options available.
3 items a month = £9 per month/£16 per one off subscription.
Let me know what products from the above you’re keen to see my thoughts on in a more in-depth review – or if you’ve tried any of them yourself.
Beauty box was gifted to me to choose my own items out of the box. Thoughts are my own and based on my experience with the brand. Post also contains affiliate links.

How would you describe a tuberose scent? I’ve never seen descriptions of it before. Hope you like the new Maybelline mascara, haven’t seen much online about it yet x

Tuberose is a scent from the Lily family, it’s quite a fresh floral. I’m looking forward to trying the Snapscara, I actually ended up opening the Marc Jacobs one first this morning and that applied lovely!

Sounds like a nice scent! Hopefully the MJ stays lovely and applies consistently.

Love this concept so much! I really want to try Soaper Duper too, I think a YouTuber I watch has mentioned it before, so it will be interesting to see how you get on with it.

I’ve got a post in the works already (well. I’ve taken the photos) about these three products, so I’ll report back in!

This looks like a fabulous beauty box! Some brand names I recognise and some I don’t; the perfect mix 🙂 I adore the pearl-embellished hair ties; too cute!
