PÜR Fully Charged Mascara Review

PÜR Fully Charged Mascara

PÜR is a brand which I’ve not tried very much from, I received this mascara in a beauty box last year and since having to admit that my Bobbi Brown Smoky Lash Mascara was close to dead – I thought it was time that I needed to start transitioning another one in. I did try this on the odd occasion last year, but as I say with most mascaras, they are very rarely at their peak performance when they are brand new, and need normally at least a week or two to mature to be ready to compete for best in show, so I cracked open the PÜR Fully Charged Mascara and put it to the test.

The PÜR Fully Charged Mascara describes itself as being powered by Magnetic Technology as well as being anti-ageing (I admit, I have no idea how or why a mascara is anti-ageing). It is said to “attract” individual lashes in a way that will cause them to thicken, lengthen, separate and strengthen, as a result it sounds like a great all round performer right? In addition to that, PUR is a brand that’s cruelty free, this product is paraben & gluten free and the product and packaging is BPA free.

The wand on this has the slightest, almost undetectable hourglass shape, it’s got a natural hair bristle which is what I tend to opt for if I’m choosing a mascara as rubber ones I find lengthening, but most of the time don’t seem to be great at volume. My lashes are normally quite long, but at the moment I feel like they’re not at their normal fullness, so I was intrigued to see whether this would give me the fantastic results everyone speaks about online.

I cracked this open midway through the month and I’d say it took a good week for it to get to it’s “good point” (baring in mind I had used it on the odd occasion on the tail end of last year). This mascara instructs you to wiggle at the base of the lash to build volume and help the lashes fall into the different gaps in the wand to separate.

I will say that I don’t particularly enjoy the application process, I find that it gets the mascara looking almost 80% right, but if there’s areas that I want to build more volume I find it difficult as the formula feels almost a little sticky, so the more you try and play around with the lash the more difficult it seems to get. The formula is rich and black and the finish of the mascara is matt with no shininess. The lashes have length volume and they do stay separated providing that you don’t touch them too much. However I do have to say I was expecting to be wowed by how this would make my lashes look after reviews online, and I’m okay with it – but for the price I’ve definitely tried other mascaras which have given me a more dramatic effect.

I don’t love the initial look on the bottom lashes as I find that it looks almost a little too solid – however, I do find that the formula softens after a few hours and the lashes take on a more fluttery effect.

Of course that softening comes with some downsides as through the day I don’t find the wear time fantastic. By the end of the day my lashes have reached a very natural state and I’ve found that it can break down and leave me with some subtle dark circles caused by flaky powdery residue falling off my lashes. I can also confirm after a stressful few days that this is not tear proof either, however the positive side of that coin is that it’s not difficult to remove!

I like this – but not enough and I wouldn’t repurchase this if it was available at half the price as there are better things I’ve tried out there that out beat it for the £8-10 price point. At £17.50 per tube, it’s up there with my favourites from Lancome and YSL, but it’s performance and effect aren’t quite as good

The PÜR Fully Charged Mascara is available at Marks and Spencers here and Beauty Bay here.

there is a few clumps, I don’t mind a bit of clumpiness, it’s when they all stick together that it bothers me most.
