Ten Empties #25

Ten Empties #25

I can’t quite believe it’s taken me almost a full month to finish off my next lot of Ten Empties, but my predictions that I would see a slower consumption has turned out to be correct so far – so we’ll see what the rest of the year holds. I have had a really good run in the past week of finishing things off, especially makeup, and I have a few more items that are on their last legs ready to meet their demise in the empties bin in the coming weeks.

Makeup

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard (review)
I’ve given up at trying to get product out of this and it still looks like if I was able to pull the stopper out that I could get a lot more – however it now takes me about 10 dips into the packaging just for getting enough out to do under my eyes. I liked this, I didn’t love this – I’ve definitely tried better.
Repurchase? No, but I would use it again if I had it

NYX HD Concealer in Porcelain
Not my favourite concealer for the face, but I do like it for the eyes as a base occasionally as it’s so light it works quite well for cut crease eyes. I have had darker colours of this in the past for concealing too and find it works really well on the face as well, this shade I could just get away with for under the eyes but would be a bit too pale for me during summer so I made sure I used it up during winter as it needed finishing.
Repurchase? Yes, but not immediately.

Wet N Wild Photofocus Foundation (review)
I’m sad to say that this didn’t work out for me which was a shame as I’d heard amazing reviews of it stateside and I bought almost immediately as wetnwild landed in the UK. It looks beautiful on the skin when first applied, but it didn’t stand up well on my oily skin. I have friends with normal-dry skin who love it, and I can see why, but proceed with caution with if oily. It’s budget friendly so won’t break the bank if you are eager to try.
Repurchase? No

Beauty Bakerie Flour Setting Powder (review)
I was happy to finish this one up as I have other powders which I can now move onto for new reviews. I did really enjoy this powder and found it helped make the skin look really flawless. I am keeping this package to travel with in future with refilling other powders as the packaging is so good!
Repurchase? Maybe

Anastasia Beverly Hills Banana Powder Refill Pan (Gifted – by Beauty Bay)
This has taken me a long time to finish up and I’m now making my way through the contour powder I was gifted at the same time. This was a nice powder, but not my favourite brightening powder that i’ve tried. I found it looked nice on the skin, but wasn’t best at oil control.
Repurchase? I wouldn’t, but these refill pans are now discontinued.

MAC Sunbasque Bronzer
Finnnnnnallly! A mere 8 years since I started this! This is a blush, but for me it’s more of a shimmery bronzer that can also be used as a bronzer. I use it more as a blush in winter and more of a glowy bronzer during summer. I’ve really liked this over the past year, but I have a lot of blushers to get through.
Repurchase? Yes I may well do, probably in summer though as I have tonnes of blushers but not many shimmery bronzers.

Body Care

Mitchum Ultimate Pure Fresh Anti-perspirant
All time favourite deodorant, works really well, lasts a lot longer than a can too! Give it a try if you’ve not already.
Repurchase? Already have!

Haircare

Aussie Miracle Moist Shampoo
All time favourite shampoo. Cleans my hair and makes my hair feel incredibly moisturised, I’ve just switched to the Mega Shampoo from Aussie and it’s highlighted just how much amazing this one is.
Repurchase? Yes, yes, yes

HASK Macadamia Oil Hair Oil
I picked this up in Primark one weekend where we went away and I didn’t take anything to help style my hair, I like oils and serums to break up curls and add texture. This took me months at the end of last year and the beginning on this one to use up this tiny vial. It smells nice, works well but I didn’t love the packaging and prefer something with a pump.
Repurchase? I wouldn’t avoid, but I wouldn’t seek it out

Skincare

The Body Shop Vitamin E Moisturiser
I didn’t enjoy this at all. I got about three weeks worth of use out of this pot so gave it a good try. It was very fragranced and I found it was aggravating my skin a little bit, I suspect if I’d used it longer I would have noticed a deterioration of my skin.
Repurchase? No

Extras

Mane and Tail Shampoo and Conditioner
These came from my advent calendar that Ben kindly purchased me me. I’d wanted to try the Mane and Tail Shampoo for ages, and I’m so glad I had these rather than purchasing the full sizes, which I definitely would have done at some point. The shampoo was okay, I found it a little drying, but not horrendous. The conditioner was very, very drying and the formula was so thin it just dripped out of my hair.

HASK Argan Oil Hair Mask
I received this in this month’s Glossybox and found it pretty good. I’d consider buying a full size pot of it if it was at a more reasonable price, but I wouldn’t buy these sachets for £2.49 each.

Guess Girl Perfume (Review) (Gifted from Sponsored Post)
I liked this perfume and enjoyed using it. It wasn’t my top choice from the Secret Scent Box I reviewed, but I would certainly use it again if I had it. Sweet and Girly but not sickly.

Chloe Perfume
A nice floral scented perfume. I’d use it if I had it, but I don’t think I would purchase it for my own.

My empties spreadsheet is back again and I’ve started a fresh sheet for 2019 you can find it here and I’ve created a template as a tab if you’d like to refer to it. If I’m making predictions for this year, I’d guess that my value will be no where near as high as last year, I had a lot of items which had big values last year such as perfumes which added to the grand total and I can see myself finishing far less big ticket items this year as I don’t have many close to empty. My prediction that I’ll be around the £1,500 mark and I’ll use around 100 full size items (as I’m trying to buy bigger bottles of shampoo and conditioner to cut down on consumption.

Have you tried any of these before? Have you finished anything up recently, please let me know in the comments below!

I went through a couple bottles of the Wet N Wild foundation and liked it (I have oily/combo skin and it played well with it). But the 3rd time I purchased, I got my usual shade but it seemed off. It was darker (even confirmed it searching it next to an old bottle I hadn’t tossed yet). And it didn’t wear the same either, so I returned it.

Love an empties post! I want to try the Flour powder. It’s a shame about the Mane and Tail shampoo being rubbish I’ve heard loads about it so I’m glad I didn’t buy it! xxx

Completely agree about the NARs concealer. Loved the actual finish etc but bloody nightmare to get it on!

I 100% agree about that Body Shop moisturizer… I couldn’t even use it up on my neck like I do with most moisturizers my face does not like because of the scent!
I’ve used up a few things, but at the rate I’m going I think I’ll being doing “Five Empties” posts. I have so many samples I am trying to use up that I am just not getting through full sizes like usual.
