Tili Beauty Box – November 2018 – Urban Jungle

Tili Beauty Box – November 2018 – Urban Jungle

With Monday’s Bobbi Brown x ASOS box, this post and another beauty box post coming next week you’ll see that I’ve gone a little beauty box mad after a couple of month’s away from them, my last one before this month was August, but with three out all within a few days of each other, all irresistible, I had to make up for a quieter few months… right?

Tili Boxes are ones which I splurge for on and off, not every box I decided is right for me, but there were a few products in this edition launched in November which I had on my hitlist to try, brands I wanted to try out and over all it seemed to be packed with goodies. This box feels a bit younger than other boxes they’ve done in the past with some more millenial targetted brands – but overall I thought it had a lot in – 11 items, at at £20 including P&P it seemed like decent value.

For those of you who don’t know Tili is from QVC UK and releases every 3 months or so, it’s not a subscription, they reveal all the items before you buy so you can be really informed as to whether the box is geared towards you or not. I’m pleased with this box to have a break from some brands – Nails Inc for example have featured far too frequently and it’s nice to see a bigger selection of brands from the retailer who have such a massive selection of brands on offer. Although still no Tarte, which I find mind-boggling as the only stockists of it in the UK, it’s such a draw to shop at QVC over other places, I don’t know why they don’t promote it more through these boxes!

This edition’s theme is Urban Jungle which sees the box have a mini makeover to a patterned design – the first I can remember seeing from them, the outside is a bright pink speckled design – whilst the inside features a dark green leopard print. I’m saving this for my new office as it’ll compliment my eccentric choice of wallpaper perfectly. Tili added a more detailed card to the box this month too, which to be honest – is about time, as it’s nice to have some information about the product!

Let’s start taking a peek at what’s inside the November 2018 Tili Box

Shay & Blue Black Tulip 10ml Perfume

I’d been really wanting to try Shay & Blue for quite some time as I’d heard amazing things about the brand – and this is a gorgeous inclusion for Autumn/Winter. Dare I say that this reminds me of a nicer version of Jo Malone’s Pomegranate Noir? It has the same deep spiciness but it has a note in it which agrees with my nose much more than Jo Malone! These 10ml size bottles retail for £25 which makes it a fantastic little inclusion, perfect for Christmas parties to throw in your bag too.

Winky Lux Mermaid Kitten Eyeshadow in the Shade Ursula

This is a super pretty purple shade and isn’t available normally individually – it’s part of a 9 shade palette from the brand Winky Lux so it’s a way to try the formula. The inclusion of this seems a little strange as QVC UK don’t seem to stock any Winky Lux products online… But this is a gorgeous metallic purple shade and I’m looking forward to having more of a play with it! The 9 pan palettes retail for £20 each so it’s worth a little over £2 as a sample.

Pixi by Petra Endless Silky Eye Pen

I’ve had a sample of this in the past and I remember loving the formula but I lost it, so I wasn’t mad to see it included in this box! Pixi is a brand which I love the more I try from them and as I’ve just finished up an eyeliner, this will go into my next to try pile next! This is about two thirds the size of the full pencil (£9.00) which makes this sample worth £4.80.

Ciate Liquid Velvet in Voodoo

There were 3 other shades potentially on the cards which were all berries and nude pinks and I had to get the one which I was least likely to wear. Voodoo is described as a dark vampy red, but it looks almost brown in the tube! Swatched it becomes a dark plummy red – I’ve tried this formula before and honestly, it’s the most bizarre liquid lip formula I’ve tried – I’m willing to retest this shade to see if it’s any better, but I will be trying it at home before it gets worn out of the house! Again, this isn’t a brand online at QVC – so another… why? inclusion. These retail for £17 each full size – there’s no ml measurement but compared to the full size I have I reckon it’s half – so a £8.50 value.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo

This is a product I had recently and I enjoyed so I wasn’t sad to see it back in my hair drawer – these little dry shampoo cans are a little pricy for what they are (which is why I’ve not repurchased) but at £10 it has a decent value. If I didn’t need to use dry shampoo as often as I do with my greasy locks I’d consider getting it as it makes the hair look and feel really clean, but I’d go through a can a week… and that’s a lot to spend on dry shampoo on a monthly basis!

Korres Lavender Blossom Shower Gel

A lot of you will know I’m allergic to lavender so I passed this onto my Mum who came over and ended up helping me take photos, so she’s my new intern and I paid her in shower gel, seems fair right? I did have a quick sniff of this and as Lavender scents go this one wasn’t too strong as it was well balanced out by the citrus notes in – but I wasn’t taking the risk of rashy skin that feels like it’s on fire, so it rightfully found a new home with my Mum. This was a full sized bottle and these go for £8 a bottle, an affordable slice of luxury for a shower compared to some other options.

Antipodes Worship Serum

This is a generous sized sample at 10ml, Antipodes is a brand I’ve wanted to try more from as I’ve only heard good things and this is a perfect addition to give them a whirl with. The 30ml bottle retails for £32, which makes this sample worth £10.66. This is described as a serum to fight the daily grind, removing oxidative stress and environmental aggressors with a water based serum with lots of antioxidants. Sounds like something my skin would love, and comes in a cute little dropper bottle too.

Bod Mermaid Shimmer Sorbet

Another brand not on QVC – am I the only one who doesn’t get it? BOD is a relatlvely new brand which I’ve received before in an ASOS box, but have been yet to try yet. This because of the mermaid name I was expecting to smell sickly, but it has an almost soapy fragrance, it’s very light and refreshing feeling on the skin as it almost feels cooling. It is scattered through with chunky, but almost clear glitter flakes which are quite subtly reflective on the skin. This is a mini size which they do actually sell which retail for £4.99. I could see this being a really nice holiday product for giving your skin some glow, but would also be very Christmas party friendly.

Caudalie Vinosource Moisturising Sorbet

I’ve definitely seen this before in something. I love Sorbets as I find they really agree with my oily skin as they sink in so easily, when I go through particuarly greasy periods I always pick a more gel or sorbet like texture as they balance my skin out better. This smells lovely and fresh with Caudalie’s trademark grape based line and I’ll be saving this for a skin is acting up period. It absorbs on my skin quickly and easily. The full size of this is 40ml and this is a 15ml sample, making it worth a lovely £7.50.

Sand & Sky Australian Pink Clay Face Mask

This is an insta-brand which I’ve seen around for a good year I think at this point, and I’ve been wanting to try some of those brands for Face Mask Friday as they seem to be everywhere and they don’t tend to be cheap either! Yet again, guess what – it’s not available on QVC! A dinkier sample – but you’d get a good 2 or 3 uses out of it I’d expect and would be perfect to reserve as an easy mask to take with you for travel. This is a pricey mask at £39.50 for 60ml, and whilst this tube seems dinky at 13ml – it still has a decent value of £8.50! I’ll have high expectations when I come to review, clay masks tend to be semi decent at low price points, so this will have to be special to impress me at that price!

Tili Headband

Last but not least is a silky twisted knot headband featuring the same print from inside the box. I look… stupid wearing this, I can’t pull it off, the dogs barked at me so I’ll be popping in my dressing table for if I want to keep my hair out the way whilst applying makeup or doing house jobs. I can’t really attribute a value to this, but it’s a lovely quality item that’s well made, so a nice little bonus inclusion!

I think that was a really nice Tili Box, there’s some brands in here I can’t wait to try out more, a returning favourite and some brands I already know I like so I’m hopeful of this being positive. I think this Tili Box will be a sell out as I can see it being a great gift for Christmas that has mass appeal to a lot of different age groups as the items are so well spread from skincare to perfume, there’s something inside for everyone. The box offers a value of just short of £90 which makes it a good little purchase if you’re interested in trying 2-3 of the items!

What do you think of this box from Tili?

It’s a shame you’re allergic to lavender because it’s so wonderful. I would love that shower gel. I agree that Pixi is a great brand. I’ve tried a few of their products, including that eye pen, and I loved them all.

They seem to have gone from being a bit of an under rated brand to being more prominent, I’m glad that they’re getting the recognition that they deserve!

A good amount of variety in this box, skincare, makeup and hair products! Would be interested to hear your thoughts on the contents once you’ve tried everything x

I did debate getting this box as it’s the best one they’ve done for a while, but I did feel like I didn’t totally need it! I do find it odd most are not QVC sold products but the Winky Lux Eyeshadow, dry hair shampoo etc do look good x
