Ten Empties #22

Ten Empties #22

Another ten empties and a couple of extras too. We’re moving out of our house Saturday and into the new one on Thursday with a couple of nights being spent at Hotel Mum and Dad. I had few extra empties, and one product that I know that will be finished before we move as I’m writing this up a few days in advance – and I have enough to worry about carrying without taking empty packaging with me – so I’ve decided to just include the extra couple in with it too!

Body Care

Anatomicals You Need a Blooming Shower Shower Gel
I picked this up in TK Maxx about two months ago and it’s been the shower gel I’ve been using since. I really like Anatomicals as a brand for basics, I wish it was more easily available everywhere. This one was nice it had a very rosey scent and foamed up well so the product lasted well too.
Repurchase? If I saw it yes, I have no immediate need to go hunting it out

Dove Original Anti Perspirant Roll On
This is the deodorant I end up picking up when I accidentally go somewhere and realise I forgot deodorant as it’s the only one they ever stock in corner shops and corner shops which isn’t a spray, so therefore I always get it. I’ve ended up using up all the ones I’ve had *finally* and I’m back on my favourite from Mitchum. Not terrible, but not my favourite.
Repurchase? Not if I can avoid it, but likely unavoidable.

Fragrance

Zoella Botanic’Eau Body Mist (review)
This was what I’ve used for the past month or two for my day to day Body Mist – I’ve enjoyed it – loved looking at the bottle every day as it’s so pretty – but it’s very light in scent and for me I prefer something with a bit more punch for all day wear.
Repurchase? Unlikely, but do recommend if you like light botanical fragrances

Skincare

Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm (review)
This has been my go-to cleanser for the evenings for about three months now, this is one I think should be empty by the end of the week. The more I’ve used this the more I’ve enjoyed it and I’ve barely had a blemish since it was introduced into my routine. Effective at removing and melting away makeup and leaves the skin feeling thoroughly nourished. I find it helps balance out my oily complexion quite well too.
Repurchase? Yes, but no immediate need to as I have a lot of cleansers in the queue waiting to be reviewed!

M&S Formula Absolute Ultimate Sleep Cream (review)
I’ve raved about this plenty of times by this point, this is my favourite night moisturiser, I also apply it in the mornings if I’m going makeup free or spending the day at home. Absolutely glorious, worth every word of the hype it’s had in the press.
Repurchase? Already have another one waiting in my stash to be used, but have some part opened ones I want to finish next before opening those!

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion (review)
Ben ended up using this more than I did. I didn’t find this very effective for me but Ben did. My issue with this was that it didn’t seem to do much unless the skin was broken/spot was popped. Ben found it did help with him both ways. He also suffers with a bad scalp particularly in summer and it ended up helping with that too.
Repurchase? Probably for Ben’s benefit, but not for mine!

Burt’s Bees Skin Nourishment Night Cream
This is almost finished and I hope that I’ll be done with it by the end of this week. I’ve ended up decanting it to the M&S jar as this squeezy tube has an extra blob of plastic where it shouldn’t which makes it difficult to squeeze out. I quite like this face cream, texture wise it’s pretty similar to the M&S one but I find the M&S one sinks in a little quicker and doesn’t feel quite as heavy.
Repurchase? No

General Consumables

Asda Little Ones Cotton Pads x 100
I picked these up on a rare trip into ASDA when I was running low on cotton pads. I’m quite fussy when it comes to cotton pads as I hate if they fluff and these did not.
Repurchase? Yes if I was in ASDA more often.

Nails

Orly Epix Topcoat (review)
I was given this at an event a couple of years ago and it’s been my go-to topcoat pretty much since. The bottle is huge, it lasts really well and gives a gel effect look and really extends the wear of polishes. Nice thin formula and it doesn’t stink. Winner all round.
Repurchase? Yes, but have a few other topcoats to use up first

Makeup

Stila Aqua Glow Concealer (review)
This has been my favourite concealer for the past few months – I compared it against three other high end concealers recently – whilst it didn’t have the best wear time I found it had the nicest finish and effect overall and loved it for special occasions.
Repurchase? Yes at some point I will but I do have a lot of concealers to try and finish first!

Benefit Porefessional Primer
A dinky sample of this from an event, I don’t hate this but it’s not my favourite primer.
Repurchase? No

Haircare

Fanola No Yellow Shampoo
This stuff is intense, this bottle has lasted me almost a year and a half – it’s by far the best colour correcting shampoo I’ve tried and it’s not too expensive either. Best place to get it is on Amazon – currently on offer for about £8.99. It keeps everything from full bleached heads to ombre’s at bay. I’ve used this weekly (when I have a blonde ombre, not pink!) and it means I’ve never needed to have it retoned or rebleached, it’s that good!
Repurchase? Yes but I have another to finish up first that’s been neglected since I owned this!

Aussie Miracle Moist Big One Shampoo
I tend not to buy the same shampoos over and over again as I find my hair gets used to them after a bottle or two – this one however is the one I probably go back to the most. It makes my hair so soft and clean at the same time. Definitely my favourite shampoo and if I could use it all the time, I would. I like the conditioner in the range, but the star for me is the shampoo, I can tell what a difference it makes to my hair!
Repurchase? Yes yes yes yes yes

Philip Kingsley Coconut Breeze Elasticizer (40ml)
I have a long publicised list of places where I’ve said I have no idea what this product does. I periodically go through a sample size bottle received in various beauty boxes every six months or so and this time I’m still clueless.
Repurchase? Absolutely not

And that’s it from this one and probably a few weeks until the next. I feel like I’ve slowed up a little in the past two months as I’m so far through the products that were part used at this point and only having one thing open at a time! Thanks to some pricier items it has taken my spreadsheet total to just less than £2,000. A few months ago I didn’t think I would hit that – but crikey, that’s more than I ever anticipated at the start!

You can peek at my 2018 empties spreadsheet at any time by clicking here, and If you love an empties post and you haven’t been keeping up you can click here to see my Ten Empties series so far. or if you want to see the products I’m attempting to “pan” this autumn some of which have just featured here) – you can find that here in my use up list.

I’ve never heard of that purple shampoo before but it sounds like something I need immediately. I’ve been slowly going lighter and have tried a few colour correcting shampoos but don’t really think they do anything for me as I always end up going brassy. I’ll definitely be checking that one out when I need to repurchase, thanks for the tip!
Good luck with the big move – so exciting!!

I feel the same as you on Porefessional. I don’t hate it but it’s also not my fave. I have a travel size I’m using up right now. Smashbox is still my fave pore filler.

I don’t think I’ve every seen anyone talk about that Orly top coat, I’m going to have to try it!

Holy guacamole, £2000 worth of empties! That’s mind-blowing but well done on clearing so much empties in a year! I’m actually quite curious to see how much mine would rack up to be if I did a similar spreadsheet style list?

I have never used Aussie haircare before and generally don’t bother to check it out cos I know it’s pricier than I am used to when it comes to haircare. However, I would one day want to try it out.

OMG, for the first time we have more less the same verdict for a complexion product wahaha (I have relatively dry skin) The porefessional was underwhelming for me as well. So after the same from my little box, I’will definitely not consider repurchasing.

Rachael, is it cool with you if I take inspo from your Ten empties series? I’ll backlink to your blog of course. I am trying to completely shake up my blog.
