Ten Empties #21

Ten Empties #21

I’m going to apologise now that from now on my set up for photos is bound to get weirder and weirder, whilst we’ve been packing few a few months now – I’d left a bunch of blog props out ready for photos and they’ve now been packed away too. I’ll have to be getting creative for the next month or so, so if you think my pictures are looking odd, you’re right. The sun was also setting as I took these and I edited these photos at night so the lighting has gone a bit… inconsistent – apologies, normal service shall resume so.

I know I keep saying I think I’ve come to an end of such a heavy run of empties, but this time – I’m looking over my makeup, fragrances, skincare and there’s really not much I can see that’s on it’s last legs imminently. I hope I can squeeze out a final 10 products before moving – it would be nice if there was 10 more bottles I didn’t have to lug with me.

Haircare

Schwarzkopf Got2B Instashine Hairspray (review)
I picked this up back in June after thinking it was going to be a replacement of a discontinued favourite from Schwarzkopf’s Got2B Line. Sadly it wasn’t as good, this was fine on a pony tail, but I found on curly hair it had a tendancy to make my hair quite matted. The hunt for a suitable replacement continues.
Repurchase? Highly unlikely!

Aussie Miracle Moist Conditioner (Big One)
This line is one I’ll always come back to, I’m just about to finish the shampoo I bought at the same time and this line just really works for me. I have oily roots, but dry ends and this whole like works all round for me and makes my hair softer than any other range.
Repurchase? Yes, but have something new in currently so no need to straight away!

L’Oreal Dream Lengths Detangling Conditioner
Karma for buying L’Oreal strikes again, curiosity of it’s detangling claims got the better of me and I was hoping that it would be great, it was no better than any other conditioner – and slightly worse than my ultimate faves. I was after something to make my knotty haired life easier, and this wasn’t it!
Repurchase? No!

Colour Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray
When I got this in a beauty box I was ready to write it off, but now I’d love to buy the full size! This transformed my hair every time I used it, I normally dislike products like this but it made my hair so noticeably chic every time I used it. I got a good couple of months use from this bottle and the full size is four times as big, so whilst the Full size is £22, I think it would last me. I’m trying to use a few things up, but I’m making a mental note to buy this in future or keep an eye out for an offer!
Repurchase? Yes!

Bumble+Bumble Thickening Spray
This has been on my use up list for ages – I’ve not gotten on with anything from Bumble and Bumble – this made my hair so heavy and I always found it a struggle to get a comb through. Looks wise I didn’t find it made any difference so a product that just wasn’t worth the effort for me!
Repurchase? Hella no.

Bodycare

Paco Rabanne Olympea Body Lotion
This was a lovely body lotion which came with a past perfume purchase – I loved this as a treat on my skin as I find the scent of this perfume so comforting as it has so many happy memories attached to it!
Repurchase? No, I will keep buying Olympea though and if this comes along as part of the journey… then so be it!

Mitchum Ultimate Gel Deodorant
Mtchum cream deodorant is my favourite and it’s in the same packaging as this, occasionally I’ll make an error and pick this one up by mistake! I like the gel formula and find it just as effective as the cream, but I find when you pull the cap off the gel is prone to flicking everywhere as it’s so loose and liquidy.
Repurchase? I try not to purely for gel blobs ending up everywhere, but I have repurchased the cream one!

Makeup

Too Faced Better Than Sex (Review)
This was an old favourite that I’ve revisited for review. This wasn’t as good as I remembered, but it wasn’t bad either. As the mascara aged the formula didn’t change too much. Worth trying if you never have and wanted to, but not an ultimate fave!
Repurchase? I wouldn’t say no if I had it in a beauty box again, but I wouldn’t repurchase either.

Flawless Lashes by Loreta Flawless Eyeliner
I was sent this liner to review and parts of it I liked, other parts I hated. I gave it a good run, several months to see if it could change my mind and by the time the pigmentation started getting ropier, I decided to just can it unconvinced. The nib on this was great, tiny and great for getting a precise, thin line and an easily controlled wing. It had okay pigmentation but not fantastic. The major downsides though were it caused minor itching to my eyes which sometimes caused my eyes to water, and secondly if the first issue wasn’t bad enough it just had poor longevity, I’ve had 99p liners last longer on my eyes but this just wore away horribly. For £14.95 I expected much better.
Repurchase? It’s a no from me (Deborah Meaden)

Jouer Essential High Coverage Creme Foundation (review)
Okay, so this is my favourite foundation discovery of the year. In my review I said I wasn’t sure whether the bottle size would make it worth it, but this 20ml bottle lasted me as long as any other 30ml foundation would and it’s pretty much been my daily foundation since I purchased it. It’s pricey and I’m keeping my eyes peeled for an offer, but blimey this shit is good. Dare I say it might even be my favourite foundation ever? I’ve already started writing up my beauty favourites of the year, and spoiler this is in there so I will need to stock up on another bottle for that post!
Repurchase? No… OF COURSE YES!!!!

Extras

Benefit Total Moisture Moisturiser
A sample after a blog event, I only got one use out of this so not really enough to comment on, formula seemed nice enough though!

Givenchy L’Interdit
I was sent this sample of the new Givenchy fragrance and I absolutely loved it! It will likely be the next fragrance I end up treating myself to or adding to my Christmas list – it was peachy and floral.

Some products in this post were PR samples sent for me for consideration of review.

And that’s it – a pretty haircare heavy one this month, I seem to have had a good roll of finishing up my least favourite, most chunky items from my vanity – styling products! My total value finished is creeping up nicely again, this was £99 worth of products which took me up to just short of £1,800! You can peek at my 2018 empties spreadsheet at any time by clicking here, and If you love an empties post and you haven’t been keeping up you can click here to see my Ten Empties series so far.

What have you finished up lately? Have you tried any – let me know in the comments!

Has the Jouer foundation become a suitable Kat Von D replacement? I find hair products so confusing, I never know what to plump for and I never do anything with it except brush it and tie it up for work 😛 I think I saw cans of that hairspray in the supermarket here the other day and I thought of you!

To be honest, it’s probably better than Kat Von D, I prefer how it blends and the coverage is slightly better! I’ve got Kat Von D to use up and I’m not enjoying it as much!
A lot of hair products I find are useless, attempting to solve a problem that isn’t there!

I recently tried the Better than sex mascara after such a long time and I felt the same way about it! I wonder if they changed the formula? x
