The Autumn Winter Fashion Five with Queensgate

The Autumn Winter Fashion Five with Queensgate

Last Thursday it was time for another challenge with my local shopping centre Queensgate. All the lovely #QBloggers seemingly descended on one corner of Queensgate at the same time – before we headed off to our first, very important meeting point – for canapes and a catch-up at Carluccios.

Carluccios in Peterborough is sadly closing down after Christmas – so if you’re local and never been or it’s a favourite it’s time to go (I thoroughly recommend the Penne Giardiniera). We were treated to a pre-challenge glass of wine, and a mixture of canapes including many which were vegan friendly too. We all had a lovely hand written letter which inside all contained our individual challenges inside.

We all essentially had the same challenge to find our favourite five picks for the change in seasons, with a gift card in hand to purchase anything that might also take our fancy. The twist in the challenge was that we all had three different stores to take a look into. My three were New Look, Schuh and River Island.

I’ll admit River Island has never really been my bag for a few years – but the challenge meant it took me into the recently relocated store – the layout is a bit more friendly I think, it all felt quite scattered in the past.

So here are my favourite fashion five I found in store.

New Look Suedette Biker Jackets – £39.99

I purchased one of these last year, in fact I was wearing it on the day – this was the best little investment I made in my wardrobe last year and I’ve been pleased to see them come back around again. They had a few different colours, yellow, blush pink, black and my personal favourite – Emerald Green. I’m a little bit besotted with this colour, and I think I’m going to have to go back and pick it up. I love that this colour seems to be popping up everywhere this season and complimented with the velvet look of the suedette it has a plush luxe look.

Rocket Dog Sasha Boots – £55

I love these kind of boots for this in between weathers, the short boots and the buckle detail makes them great for lots of outfits too, I can see these paired with skirts and dresses as well as jeans. They had these in brown and black, I love these kind of shoes in brown as they always feel a bit less formal and look lovely with blue denim as well as my winter staple of black tights.

River Island Triple Compartment Cross Body Bag – £32.00

This bag ended up being a surprise favourite, it’s woven texture had a cosiness to it and I loved the colour combination and subtle pattern clash. White and Black paired with Emerald and Mustard large checks contrasted against houndstooth side panels. Inside the bag had several pockets which is perfect for trying to keep yourself a little more organised on the go. I was tempted by this, but being tall I really struggle with Cross Body bags and this one just didn’t end up sitting on me in the right position – however it’s a lovely quality bag and if you’re not 5 11 – this may be a lovely choice.

New Look Rochelle Edit Dark Green Shirt Dress – £24.99

I would have picked this up if they had this left in stock in my size – I’ve ended up placing an order online for it. Khaki is one of my favourite colours in autumn and mixed with the leopard print which is very in right now made this a dreamy combination. The shirt dress is flattering on just about everybody – it can create curves with a more cinched in waist with the tie, or create a balanced out look if desired. This is an item from the Rochelle Hulmes edit and was easily my favourite piece of clothing I spotted across the store. It’s the kind of piece that’s good for all seasons and can easily be dressed up for a night out, paired with trainers for something dressed down and smartened up for the office. I love those kind of transitional wardrobe pieces for the wardrobe as it saves so much space and allows you to keep an easy capsule wardrobe.

New Look Ring Handle Shoulder Bag – £19.99

My ultimate fave find was this shoulder bag in New Look. It had that Chloe like look to it with the ring handles, in a practical cross-body style and in a mixture of fabrics and colours. In the Peterborough store they had five different colours/patterns – and yes, I did create my own display in store. The dark maroon one and leopard ones were probably my favourites, but the Black is the perfect ‘goes with everything’ style and size that can be dressed up or down.

Online the bag is also in stock in a houndstooth and a very fashionably ‘Clueless’ navy and green check (which is very, very tempting). So each store may have slightly different colour ways available.

And those are my fashion picks, if you’re local to Peterborough I thoroughly recommend taking a wander through the stores, there’s lots of new coming in – things I wouldn’t have even considered if I’d seen them online. Queensgate, if you’re local will mean you know they keep making improvements to the centre and keeps getting better every time I visit. The works on the new cinema and restaurants are about to start work, as is the rejig of John Lewis, so there’s even more change coming!

Have you refreshed your wardrobe with anything new for the change in season?

Queensgate kindly gifted me a gift card in exchange for the effort to write this post up. Post contains affiliate links.

I ADORE that jacket, especially in green! I do hope you end up getting it and, unfortunately, I just found that it is available in the US. I need to keep my wallet far away from me πŸ˜›
