Danglefoot Polish : The Indie Polish Maker you Need to Try

Danglefoot Polish

I don’t know how or when but somehow at some point I stumbled across an indie nail polish maker on Facebook sometime last year, Danglefoot Polish. I followed the page, admired the beautiful creations while convinving myself, you don’t need any more polishes. Four or so months ago she teased a polish and it was immeditately something I needed, once it arrived it easily became my most worn polish for years (seriously, I’m about halfway through a bottle), and fell in love with the formula, so upon another release of new shades I found myself ordering three more, and believe me if I’d not missed some shades selling out I’d have had more than three.

The artisan polishes are made in small batches an hour down the road from me in Attleborough, Norfolk by the owner Hayley. She specialises in those that are different to any old shade you can get on the high street, multichromes, thermals, holos, glitters and magnetic. The line is 5 free, vegan and cruelty free – small batch you’d be fooled into thinking that they’re a bit on the pricey side, but they range between £6-£8 depending on shade.

There’s not been many polish blog reviews this year as I’ve honestly fell a bit out of love with them all and hadn’t been painting my nails at all really in the first five months of the year. When I felt the urge it was when we were seemingly doing various repairs to our house, packing boxes, scrubbing floors ready for putting our house on the market or for a viewing. So it seemed like whenever I wanted to it would chip and be off my nails, so I just gave up keeping them pristine. The discovery of Danglefoot has reignited my love of polish again, and these four have been rotating on my nails all summer.

The Danglefoot Polish bottles are small and basic in square bottles with a medium flat sized brush that applies the polish nicely. There’s one thing that all four of these shades have in common and that’s that they either apply completely opaque in one coat or they nearly do. The pigmentation that is in these polishes is incredible, and they dry faster than any other polish brand that I think I’ve come across, what ever Danglefoot is doing, they’re doing it right.

Loki

Where it all began, I think I’ve had more compliments on this than any other polish I’ve ever owned. I’ve been stopped in stores, comments from family and friend – and had the bottle nabbed multiple times by my Mum whilst we were on holiday at the end of August. Loki was the first shade that formed part of Hayley’s larger Avengers collection. This polish is special, and I’ve not owned anything that shifts to as many shades as this one does.

Emerald Green, Olive Green, Gold, Plum and purple are all colours this shift to depending on the light and direction, but there’s one thing that doesn’t matter, which ever angle it’s pointing to it’s stunning. Whilst all these polishes have lovely pigmentation, this one is incredible, and it’s so shiny too – even without a topcoat. This one also has splendid wear time before it needs topping up and often it’s just a corner that chips so it can just be topped up – but I’ve had a full weeks worth of wear from this. A bold statement, but this is easily in my top five polishes of all time!

God of Thunder

Another Avengers themed polish, and this time it’s a dedication to Loki’s brother – God of Thunder himself Thor. This one is a mid blue base, bursting with scattered holographic shimmer. I didn’t have any holo blues of this tone in my collection so it was a no-brainer when I saw this as part of her last big release that this one had to be mine.

This one needs two thin coats to get to full opacity, it’s very nearly there with one but it does need a second one to make sure it’s fully opaque and to build up the intensity of the holo. This one is quite shiny without a topcoat, but adding one definitely does intensify the holographic effect on the nails. This looks lovely at all times of the day, but it comes to life when it’s under a lightbulb as the holo seems to pop more. This one has a good wear time – not quite as good as Loki, but I can get 3-4 days out of this depending on how active I’m being with my hands (which when you’re moving house and packing boxes is on the lower en of that scale).

My Spidey Sense is Tingling

Last one from the Avengers collection and one dedicated to Spiderman. I’m sure you’re wondering on the choice of colour of this – but I’m sure I remember reading as Hayley was developing the collection that it’s very hard not to do all the shades in blue and red, the two colours you’re most likely to think of when it comes to Spiderman (funnily, I’m tying this post up as I’m watching Spiderman Homecoming!). This colour I’m sure I remember that it was what she’d imagine the colour of Spiderman’s webbing would be if it was seen all pooled together, a luminous glowing lilac.

In the bottle this has a subtle sheen of a linear holo which seems to mostly stick to the glass bottle without translating to the nails, but it does add to the glow that this polish seems to radiate on the nails in sunlight. From a distance this polish is a lilac, the closer to it you get the more you can notice that it has a subtle pink-lilac sheen as it moves in the light. It’s also scattered with a lighter lilac speckle that gives it a delicate and pretty effect.

This is the one I’ve worn the least so far – only two maybe three times, however it’s not disappointed on wear time yet. This one does look better with a topcoat as it brings out that lilac pink sheen, however I’ve seen it swatched online with a matte topcoat which gives it an almost eggshell effect, which I’m very curious to try out next!

Rawrsome Oops

Being small-batch and handmade, there’s always going to be occasional mistakes where a batch isn’t made up quite as it’s meant to be and these are sold as an ‘oops’ for a little cheaper. On my last order I added one for Rawrsome in, to which I was told it was a super holo edition of the mix after ordering. There’s no such thing as too much holo in my eyes, so I was extra happy to have snagged it. And boy, what a beauty it is.

Under daylight this is a pure mid-burnt orange base which is as promised super holo – I think because it’s so holo it takes on a more linear effect, but it’s still scattered – just a trick of the eye, It’s definitely more obviously holo than God of Thunder. Under night light it adopts a slight pink hue and it sits somewhere between a pink and an orange, very pretty and quite unusual. I can see myself wearing this a lot going into Autumn, perfect choice of shade for the changing season.

The Danglefoot Polish store can be found online here, but the best places to follow her for updates on new releases on stock and new shades are on her instagram or facebook pages. I’m not sure about what the international delivery options are, but Danglefoot does have a US stockist called Beautometry, who do ship internationally – so there may be a way for you to get your hands on it no matter where you are!

I feel like this is very much the start of a growing collection and I’m looking forward to her new upcoming ‘underrated Disney collection’ to see the Tangled and Meet the Robinsons themed shades!

Which is your favourite out of the ones I’ve collected so far?

Loki is STUNNING! 😮 There are so many colour shifts. I’d never get anything productive completed if I was wearing that – I’d be admiring my polish all day long.

Rawrsome Oops is the best kind of “mistake”… “too much holo” – is that even a thing? Psssh.

“I have enough nail polishes, I have enough nail polishes, I have enough nail polishes…”

Isn’t it lovely – I can’t think of another polish that shifts as much!
Glad you agree on the no such thing as too much holo comment, cover me in it and it still won’t be enough haha.
You do have enough polishes, so did I… but I have to say I can definitely make room for more of these!

Honestly, I’m completely in love – I stopped buying polishes as I was so out of love but I know full well you’ve sparked up the passion in me, I can’t wait to see what’s next! x

These are gorgeous! I do especially love Loki, having a soft spot in my heart for the character and for multichromes that actually shift to all the colors they appear to have in the bottle :] I would wear all 4 of these, how gorgeous! I thought I was safe because it’s a UK brand, but you had to go and mention Beautometry… if they restock Loki I’m going to have to make an order!

I’d normally be like ‘you have something similar’ but in the case of Loki you do not, and yes you do need it haha!
Yes this one does transform like it does in the bottle, it’s false advertising when they don’t!
