Ten Empties #18

Ten Empties #18

Yes! another pile of empty packaging headed to the recycling bin this weekend but of course as usual I managed to collate them for some snaps to share my final thoughts on some products that I’ve reviewed before or haven’t made a full post mention. This may well be the last one I manage to get before we move, we’re still waiting on a date but I expect that once we’re back from holiday next week it may only be a week or two.

I feel like the past few times I’ve said that my I expect that my empties will start slowing down, but they haven’t seemed to. But I’m genuinely looking around the areas in my house where things are and I can’t see signs that there’s a mass of things close to their demise (but there is a few I’m crossing my fingers would be done pre-move as they’re so close!). Anyway, let’s jump in.

Haircare

Label.m Anti Frizz Lotion (review)
I absolutely loved this! My sister in law Stevie who is also my hairdresser gave me this in her last had my hair cut in May, this has been used every wash since and was great for smoothing the hair and it’s really helped styles from not frizzing up, particularly noticeable in the big heatwave that we had. Next time I’m at the salon I’ll stock up on another bottle but I do have a few products that are similar that will tie me over for the meantime.
Repurchase? Yes!

Herbal Essences Bio:Renew Micellar Water and Ginger Shampoo
If you’ve been reading my empties you’ll know that I’ve been on the journey with this Bio Renew line since it was released, there’s been a bottle featured in every 2 or so of these and this by far is the worst. Micllar Water for the skin great, Micellar water for the hair left it very greasy. I’ve had this in the shower for a long time and could only use it once every couple of washes.
Repurchase? No, absolutely not.

Schwarzkopf Got2B Fresh It Up Dry Shampoo (review)
This is a fabulous dry shampoo an it just about makes my top spot compared to my Aussie where the perforance is pretty comparable for me, however I definitely don’t get as many uses out of a can. It’s cheaper so I feel like the numbers stack at roughly when it’s converted over but it’s only stocked at Primark (at least in the UK) and it’s not easy to me to easily get to, so I’ll buy several cans when I next go to tie me over until my next trip.
Repurchase? Yes, I need to get my ass to Primark to stock up!

Fragrance

The Body Shop Vineyard Peach Body Mist
Yay, I’m so glad to have finally have finished this up, I think this was the third summer it was into and I was really hoping that this summer I would have it finished up. I really like the scent of this but the body mist didn’t have enough longevity for me. I paired it with longer lasting fragrances to give them a temporary twist, or when I was at home for a quick mist.
Repurchase? No, but I would get other items from the Vineyard Peach line.

Skincare

Pixi Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse (review)
The more I used this cleanser the more I enjoyed it and I’m a little sad now it’s finished. In my full review I said I liked the oil side more than the cream side but I really started to love that side too. I found that this lasted me a decent amount of time and really enjoyed these particular at the end of a work day to make my skin feel clean, stripped but nourished.
Repurchase? Yes, I will definitely at some point!

Simple Micellar Water Wipes
These were okay, purchased for when I’m ultra lazy or using to remove swatches of makeup as I’m photographing posts. I liked them but wouldn’t purchase them at full price.
Repurchase? No

Origins Ginzing Gel Moisturiser
I’d heard such mixed things about this moisturiser and I for one was on the love list. This was nice and nourishing and had a gorgeous gel cream texture which sank into the skin with such ease. I’ve heard friends describe this as sticky, but honestly I found no issues with it. And it has a gorgeous orangey ginger scent.
Repurchase? I don’t need another moisturiser for quite some time, but if I needed to I would. Would recommend trying!

Elemis Cellular Recovery Skin Bliss Capsules
I’m very happy that I managed to get these finished, they were in my last products I’m trying to finish up. These were night and day oil capsules, I was only able to use up the day time ones  which were rose based whilst the evening ones were lavender which Ben used up for me. I wasn’t using these for long enough to see any noticeable effects as there was just a weeks use of both in here. They would be very expensive for what they are if you were to purchase.
Repurchase? No

Fresh Sugar Lip Balm
I really liked this balm it has a really lovely texture that wasn’t waxy, thick or greasy. However the price tag is £19.50 and that’s above what I’d normally like to pay and I would normally cap myself at around £15. A nice inclusion from a beauty box that I would happily use again, but wouldn’t be splashing for myself unless I managed to snag a better deal on it.
Repurchase? Unlikely

Makeup

Touch in Sol No Pore-blem Primer
I was debating whether to class this as an extra or not, but I felt like I had enough of a try with this for formulate an opinion. I tried this in store a few months ago and whilst the texture intrigued me I wasn’t sure how well it would work for oily skin, but I got about seven uses out of this tube and I was impressed. Foundation looks great over this and I found it quite oil controlling too. Would definitely consider trying a full size in future.
Repurchase? Maybe, but not immediately.

Extras

Benefit Porefessional License to Blot
Euch. No to this, greasy horrible to use and I couldn’t tell what it actually did to help.

MAC Strobe Cream
When will samples of strobe cream stop coming! I have a growing collection of illuminating creams and I’m already trying to finish up a bigger tube of this!

Rituals Ritual of Sakura Body Cream
This smelt lovely and was a nice thin formula that sank into the skin easily whilst still being a moisturising formula.

JR Naturals Mandarin and Chamomile Mist
I was sent this facial mist ages ago as a sample and I’ve never been able to use it because it’s lacked a mister. I decantered this into my Glamglow mister and this put this to the test. It’s definitely more of a light generic toner and is nothing to write home about, too small to see skin improvements.

You can peek at my 2018 empties spreadsheet at any time by clicking here, totals for the year are now sitting at over £1400 of finished items and over 250 finished items when all the extras are counted in too. I thought by the end of the year I might be at the around £2000 in value however I’ve seen less high end things like perfumes which are ticked up the value, so I’m not sure it will quite creep over to that milestone. If you love an empties post and you haven’t been keeping up you can click here to see my Ten Empties series so far.

How do you find MAC’s Strobe Cream? Does it live up to it’s claims and give a lit from within look to the skin? It’s one of the products on my list to try from MAC.

I like it, but don’t think it’s worth the price, there are so many similar products out there at the moment that are much cheaper than MAC’s. This is quite a white toned one (I think they do a pink and a gold, but I haven’t tried them) – Makeup Revolution do some dupes which are just as good IMO

I often get cards and the place the gift cards are for sell MAC so I plan on getting the 30ml sized to go tube of strobe cream which comes in the pink shade so essentially I’ll get it for free 😂 I really like how hydrating and soft MAC’s Studio Moisture Cream feels and I’m hoping this will feel nice on the skin too!

I always love your empties posts! I’ve heard so many great things about the Peach range from the Body Shop, but it’s never in store when I go in- can’t believe you’ve had the body mist for three summers!xx

Micellar water for the hair?? Really, that’s a thing now?! I cannot imagine that ever working and it just sounds like such a lazy excuse. It truly sounds horrific. 😂
