Five New in the Shower #4

Five New in the Shower #4

It’s another one of those times where all my shower stock seems to have needed replenishing at the same time, so I’ve cherry picked some items out that have been lingering on my bathroom shelf and also had a wander around the shops to find myself some new things to try. The shower room is the place where I have little loyalty, I buy what’s on offer and I trial out things that are new – I rarely thing I “have to” have this shower gel.

REN Atlantic Kelp and Magnesium Shower Gel

This arrived in a beauty box a few months ago and this shower gel from Ren was literally the last one on my bathroom shelf so migrated it’s way into the shower. I would never normally spend more than about £6 on a shower gel and at that point the shower gel has to be a decent size, it’s somewhere that really doesn’t benefit from being extremely luxe. This is a lovely scented shower gel and Ben is gravitating towards it too as it’s a great unisex friendly fragrance (which would make this great for travel too).

Lush Christingle Body Conditioner

This is the penultimate item from Lush I’ve got lingering on my bathroom shelf, I took this into the shower to be a moisturising treat after shaving my legs and all I have to say is… ugh yuck. This feels pleasant whilst it’s on the skin with a tingly minty menthol feeling on the skin but it leaves such a horrible heavy waxy feeling on the skin after it’s rinsed off and doesn’t leave me feeling conditioned, just like there’s a wax-barrier over my skin. I’ve read a few reviews of this which recommended patting yourself down after getting out of the shower and I don’t believe that it made the blindest bit of difference to how effective it felt on the skin. Luckily this wasn’t a full size tub as it wasn’t in a set so it shouldn’t take me long to finish up and get gone.

Schwarzkopf Gliss Asia Straight Shampoo and Conditioner

Gliss has been a completely new line to try for me and I’m quickly working my way around their different offerings to see if I can find the perfect hairline at a fraction of the cost at what I normally pay. I’ve used these a few times so far and I’ve actually been really impressed. My hair has been left soft and smooth by these thanks to the keratin serum that’s contained inside it. It smells lovely (although not like lotus!) with an almost sherbet twist to it. The thing that’s left me really surprised is how that I’ve got extra long time between washes, I normally have to wash my hair every other day or dose up heavily with dry shampoo, this one has left me going into day three without the need for dry shampoo and I can put off washing to day four, which is virtually unheard of. So far very impressed, but I will use about 4 of the conditioners in the time it will take me to use one of the shampoos!

Korres Oily Skin Cleanser

This hold the longest reign in my skincare cupboard for unused or untried skincare, I think I’ve had this for four years (don’t worry it’s never been opened!). I decided it was finally time to use it up and was going to initially use it as a makeup brush cleaner if nothing else but I was sent some recently so I migrated it to my shower as I was about to finish the one I had had on the go. I don’t know what about this has been so unappealing to pick out to try from my collection as I love Korres products, and the salicylic acid should be perfect for keeping breakouts at bay and rebalancing the skin. I’ve had it in the shower for around a week now and have trialled it a handful of times and so far I’m not offended by it but will take longer to determine if it’s doing good for my skin. I think this is now discontinued as I can’t find it in stock anywhere (or it’s been repackaged and renamed) but I’ll keep you posted in my empties as to what I ended up thinking about it.

I you enjoyed the smell of Christingle then you need to get down and try the new scrub that launched on Friday – Magic Crystals. Same kind of smell but its a salt scrub like Rub Rub Rub so no residue on the skin x

I really don’t get on with most of lush’s products and haven’t been fond of their recent campaigns so once I’m through the few items I have remaining i won’t be buying from Lush again

You aren’t having much luck with Lush are you!
The pink Gliss ones are my favourite – definitely worth trying if you haven’t already x x

No I think me and Lush are completely through! The Peony one? I’ve tried the conditioner but didn’t buy the shampoo, I think this one is working the best for me thus far but I would try the full set of the Peony one again!

I’ve had that Korres cleanser for a long time too – I do really like it but you’re right, it’s not exactly appealing x

Gross, your experience with Christingle is exactly why I’m hesitant to try a body conditioner. Normal lotions do a fine enough job, thank you very much! I think the only things I like from Lush at this point are the bath products, so I can see how you would easily drop them.

Ugh it’s honestly gross, I used it again last night and it’s very rare that I’m tempted to toss a product without finishing it but this one is right on the borderline it’s gross!

I know how you feel about tossing products, but sometimes it isn’t worth the bother. Too bad it’s such a specific product, I can’t imagine there would be any other use for it :/

Try The Body Shop shower gel, it is the best and go with strawberry variant, you will love it.

I’ve just finished up a Body Shop one… the one scent I don’t like from the Body shop is the strawberry line, it’s way too sweet for me!
