ASOS Beauty Box – August 2018

ASOS Beauty Box – August 2018

It’s been a fair few months since my last purchase of the ASOS Beauty box, my friend Lora spotted this one and there was a few items in here that had me intrigued, a few days later I had an email come in saying that some reward voucher I had were due to expire the next day, so I took the two £5 voucher off the cost of the box which made this a whole £2 to me.

The theme of this edition is that it’s Travel Friendly items. On the surface this isn’t the best value for money with no full size items – there were enough in here to think it was still good value even without the £10 discount.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara (review) – Worth £10.00
I always credit this as my favourite mascara but I’ve been so topped with ones from beauty boxes and PR that I haven’t repurchased it for a long time. I’m curious to revisit it and see whether it’s as good as I remember as I think it’s been close to two years since I last had it. I’ll be cracking this open next, let me know if you’re interested in a re-review of this, my original post was from 2015 and it could definitely do with a refresh!

Touch in Sol No Pore Blem Primer – Worth £1.50
I’ve been really intrigued about the Touch in Sol range and after checking it out at a stand in London a few months ago I decided that when I needed to purchase a new primer, this would be the first thing from the line I would give a try to. At a tenth of the size of a full bottle it’s a bit of a piddly sample, but it should give me a good few days worth of trialling to see if it’s suited to my skin.

Rodial Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Tonic – Worth £19.50
I have a sample of this already in my cupboard which is my next toning spritz I’m going to try – hopefully I like it as a second sample of this is joining my stash! Oddly this isn’t stocked on ASOS’ website and everywhere I can find most websites seem to be out of stock having been heavily on sale which makes me wonder whether it’s something that’s being discontinued.

Ouai Rose Hair and Body Oil – Worth ~£2.60
I’ve been desperate to try something from Ouai and this sounded great, it’s a beautifully scented dual purpose oil that’s nice and thin – the rose scent is natural and not overbearing bordering on sickly like more fake rose scents can have. I’ve tried this a couple of times and I like that it’s a really thin formula and I can see how it would work well on the body as well as the hair without leaving a greasy feeling behind.

Emma Hardie Brilliance Facial Oil – Worth £6.50
Emma Hardie is a brand I’ve wanted to explore a bit more and this is a welcome addition to the box, but I’m likely going to have to pass this over to a friend as it contains lavender – it is right near the bottom of the list though so I’ll give it a patch test before I donate. This is a facial oil packed with essential oils to hydrate, and smooth the skin. Packed with Omega 3’s to help resurface the skin improve elasticity. A product which sounds great for holiday for giving the skin a real boost.

Glamglow Thirstymud Mask (review) – Worth £16.00
Last but definitely not least – a great choice for holiday too, this is a tried and tested favourite mask for me and is fabulous left on as an overnight mask. This alongside the Too Faced mascara was enough to seal the deal on this box alone for me. I’m going to keep this for my second holiday of the year to Wales at the end of the month as it will be a perfect skin pick me up after long days on the beach (hopefully this hot spell lasts until then!). You can buy these 15ml sizes in the small pot version but their sample sizes always seem to come in these tubes (which actually I prefer!).

So six miniatures in this box and all items which would see you through a week’s holiday. Whilst there’s no full sizes in here the brands contained are high end and gives a good opportunity to test. Personally I think it would have been nice to see a full size item such as a tinted lip balm even if it was on the lower end of prices just to give the box items a bit more longevity for use.

Nice idea to have a travel size box so you can stock up on minis of products you like or try a bunch of products to see if they are right for you! The mascara and the tonic sound good and I’m pleased you got a mini size of the Glamglow mask you like 🙂 xx

L’Oréal Lash Paradise/Paradise Extatic is meant to be a dupe right? How do they compare to each other for you? x

That’s an awesome box, I would love to try that GlamGlow mask, it seems really good!! Better Than Sex mascara used to be my favorite but I prefer the Velvet Noir Mascara by Marc Jacobs Beauty honestly!!

The Glamglow is fantastic for overnight pick me ups. I haven’t tried much from MJ Beauty, I should give that one a try but I have so many I need to get through at the moment I’m stocked up for the foreseeable!
