Ten Empties #14

Ten Empties #14

It’s been almost two weeks since my last empties and whilst I reached the next batch of ten products quite quickly the pile seems to be slowing down in it’s growth somewhat. I’ve had some really busy weeks coupled with 5am starts at work which has meant I’ve just ditched any form of beauty routine and products just aren’t being used very much at the moment.

Since I last spoke to you we’ve sold our home, secured the house we wanted and we’re just now waiting for all the financial stuff to go through with a view to be moving in the first two weeks of September. Blogging is probably going to take a bit of a back seat over the next couple of months while we pack (there’s a lot to pack!), so ANY products I can finish and not find space for in a box will be welcomed.

Haircare

Herbal Essences Bio:Renew Nourish Shampoo (review)
I bought the shampoo and conditioner from this line and the conditioner was finished in my last empties. I didn’t like them when used together oddly and found that the conditioner played nicer with other shampoos and the shampoo worked better with other conditioners. Together made my hair dry which was just bizarre as apart I thought they both were moisturising. I didn’t find this stripped product from my hair too well, but I did find that it added a nice level of shine.

Schwarzkopf Gliss Liquid Silk Conditioner (review)
I spoke about this briefly in new in haircare round up and said how much I was enjoying this budget conditioner. It’s not a huge bottle and doesn’t go really far, I found I got about 5 uses out of this bottle, but for £1 it was worth another try. I went and picked up another of these and another conditioner from Gliss which sounded nice too.

Schwarzkopf Got2B Fresh It Up Dry Shampoo (review)
First time trying this after getting it for a penny in Superdrug (turns out it should have been a GWP and I shouldn’t have qualified) but full sizes are available exclusively available in Primark. I absolutely loved this (I got about 4 uses out of this can) and meant to go and pick up a couple more to give it a good test when I went into Primark last weekend, but I went in, couldn’t find sandals and left forgetting all about the dry shampoo! This could be a new HG dry shampoo but I need to give it a better test before I take Aussie’s crown off them.

Boots Firm Hold Hairspray
I picked this up for my wedding bathroom boxes last year and decided to get it finished up. Not my hairspray of choice but I’ve definitely used worse too – okay for budget, okay for travel as it’s a smaller size, but one less piece of clutter in my haircare drawer!

Directions Carnation Pink
I picked this shade of directions up by mistake and whilst the colour did look nice on my hair I found that it just didn’t last and faded too quickly. One of the directions shades which are designed for super light blonde hair and won’t stick to darker blondes. Good though if you can’t have pink hair for work and looking for something more temporary!

Makeup

Your Good Skin Anti-Shine Base Lotion (review)
I put this in my summer use up list and was very glad when the pump stopped dispensing. I bought this as an alternative to try for my MAC Oil Control Lotion to see if there was an easier to access version (MAC is a bit out of the way for me). Sadly this didn’t compare and I didn’t find it helped make a bit of difference to how shiny or oily my skin was. I haven’t been impressed with this line from Boots at all and have no plans to try anything else from the line.

Glamglow Glowsetter Setting Spray (review)
I just reviewed this last week so I won’t go too indepth with it. I am not a setting spray fan, until I tried this one – the mister is incredible, it adds nice luminosity to the skin and performs really well. This was the travel size bottle which I bought because I thought I’d write it off as another setting spray failure, but I need to get myself the full size, ASAP. I”m going to keep this little bottle and use it for travel but to also fill it up with MAC Fix Plus which I’m trying to finish but don’t like how wet it makes my face.

Korres Wild Rose Foundation
Another product finished from my summer use up list. I’ve had this Foundation longer than I should admit… maybe four years at a guess. It became a really good colour match for me so I decided to try and get it finished up whilst I could. Unfortunately I encouraged it’s early end but accidentally spilling it all down my pyjamas one day which wasted at least a weeks worth of product! I really liked how this looked on my skin but didn’t find it’s performance very good through the day. Good for less oily or dry skins I suspect.
Repurchase? No, it’s had it’s packaging changed to a squeezy tube and is not long-wearing enough for the price for me (over 30 euros!)

Skincare

No7 Protect and Perfect Intense Advanced Serum
I got this in a beauty box and this just was bloody awful. It was another product in my Summer Products I’m trying to use up post and in there I said it felt like a smoothing primer packed with silicones. It didn’t feel like a skincare product at all, it felt nice on the skin but when rinsed off it left no trace or improvement, like it was Porefessional! Rubbish and expensive for what it was. They don’t sell this size any more (30ml) and comes in a larger size at 50ml, but even still it’s not worth the money.

Polaar Icy Magic Instant Eye Contour Energiser
I used this as a morning eye cream as it was my “last open” eye product before I cracked open a new one, it comes with a metal roller on the bottom but I found that the product which is a really congealed gel cream didn’t run through it so I cut open the top and dipped my finger in from the top. It wasn’t the most hydrating and felt a lot nicer when used with the metal roller. I’ve seen that they’ve since repackaged this so it has a solid metal top with a hole in the middle rather than the roller which would work a lot better, but at almost £20 I think there are cheaper alternatives that work as well as this.

Extras

Eco.Fresh Body Hand and Body Moisturiser & Eco.Fresh Hand and Body Wash
Just two extras this time around, I found a pouch of travel beauty products from this brand (no idea what hotel they came from!) so finished off a couple of them for a night away. I think I’ve now finished all miniature shampoos and shower gels and now just have solid soaps (ugh) and body lotions left in my teeny miniatures pile which I am debating binning them when we move!

That’s it from this empties, let me know any good or bad products you’ve finished up lately in the comments or let me know if you’ve tried any of what I’ve finished and what your thoughts are.

Totals for the year are now over 200 items and I’ve now hit over the £1000 mark too (£1070, there were some pricier products in this one!) . You can peek at my 2018 empties spreadsheet at any time by clicking here. There’s already a few products I’ve managed to finish up from my latest Products I’m Trying to Use Up, and if you love an empties post and you haven’t been keeping up you can click here to see my Ten Empties series so far.

I’d love to hear if you’ve tried any of these products before or what your thoughts are too! And of course if you know of any dupes for the Kat Von D Lock it foundation.

Your photos look even more crisp and beaut in this post than usual! I knew you’d love the glam glow, it is fab. I’m going to pinch your ideas though and decant fix+ into my mini too as I’m trying to get rid of it – The mister is perfection. X

Thank you, went back to my old set up yesterday (which I don’t have much time to do any more as it means clearing my living room!) and I really liked how they turned out, going to make something like this a permanent set up in the new house!
The mister is so good on it, hoping Fix+ will be better with a nicer mist!
