Zoella Splash Botanics Collection – First Impressions

Zoella Splash Botanics Collection – First Impressions

I don’t do first impressions very often on my blog, whilst the pictures are often all shiny and new in reviews you’ll find that behind the scenes I’m most of the way through a product before I post a review of it. However when I did some instahauling on my stories of the Zoella Splash Botanics collection and said I was thinking of doing a first impressions and the DM replies I got were an overwhelming yes please.

This collection from Zoella Beauty feels like it popped out of no where – I often see when new collections are launched reveal videos on my home screen on Youtube, but this one seemed to have gone under the radar slightly. That being said as soon as I saw pictures of it I wanted it, she nailed the packaging with collection and it’s bang on trend. I’ve been putting the Zoella Splash Botanics products for the past week or so, so it’s not the most instant of first impressions and they’ve still had a micro test, but I’m not as fully formed on opinion as I might normally be.

The Splash Botanics Scent

When I featured these the questions I got asked most was what did this line actually smell like? I think the smaller announcement of this collection has left people questioning a bit more what the Zoella Splash Botanics range smelt like and with no dedicated website for the brand also has made it impossible to find any specific notes.

I think if you like fragrances like fig, aloe and galbanum you’ll really enjoy this fragrance – scents I do all really like, the scent is officially but a bit vaguely described as the following;

A pretty green, watery floral scent highlighted with freesia and delicate iris flowers.

For me it definitely leans more green and leafy than it does towards the floral side. Whilst I think the scent is lovely a common issue around all three of these products is that the scent is a little too light. I wish personally it all packed more of a punch. If you’re someone who likes ultra light fragrances and those which don’t lean too sweet this is a line that is worth checking out.

Botanic’Eau Body Mist

I’ve had a few miniatures of Zoella’s fragrances before which I’ve always found handy for keeping in my handbag, but the packaging of this one suckered me in so badly that I had to take it home with me. I have views of decorating my blog studio/office/beauty room when we move to tropical kind of theme and I can imagine this fitting right in with what I have planned in my head. Also the name of this is fun to say and I’m finding excuses to say “botanic-oh” at any opportunity.

I used this every day last week as my perfume of choice and also using over my body a little bit liberally too. The fragrance is very light as I previously mentioned and by midday I was unable to smell it on myself and whilst I wouldn’t say it disappears in less than 2 hours, it doesn’t last as long as me as I would like. The fragrance is different to a lot of cheaper end lines which tend to opt for heavily floral, fruity or gourmand notes and it’s nice that there’s something that’s on the softer end of the spectrum available in the budget price bracket, especially in these kind of notes which I feel are more unusual.

At £8 they’re not expensive for fragrances and at 45ml they’re a generous size and I don’t feel too guilty about using a too liberal dose of them to get the intensity up a little.

Make A Splash Moisturising Body Wash

The item I actually went to pick up was the Body Wash, I was down to the last body wash in my collection so I felt justified in being able to pick another up. This is such a thick and creamy body wash and reminds me of the Nivea In Shower Moisturisers which I used to use religiously but for some reason just stopped repurchasing them.

This is a very creamy balm like body wash that doesn’t particularly sud-up or create a mass of bubbles. Whilst I wouldn’t necessarily say that it adds the level of moisture into the skin as an actual moisturising product does, but it does add something and the skin feels soft after using, it also doubles up as a great product to use whilst shaving!

It’s a good summer product for if you’re feeling lazy, again it’s not got the biggest punch in terms of fragrance but it’s nice and fresh.

Quench Me Body Sorbet

Lastly is the Quench Me Body Sorbet, I’ve had issues with my arms being really dry over the past month or so and despite the plethora of body oils, lotions and potions I have in my drawer I’ve been able to find anything that draws me into actually make me want to use it. I have tried and loved the Body Shop Body Sorbets in the past so I thought Zoella Beauty’s was worth a try.

Whilst she has done body lotions & creams in the past this is the first sorbet as far as I’m aware and I have to say I love it. What I don’t love about lotions is how long they feel like they take to sink into the skin, I hate the feeling of residue that they leave behind and that’s the biggest barrier to me using them. Sorbets absorb instantly add a nice sheen to the skin that looks gorgeous for summer.

Performance wise I wouldn’t say that this is any better or worse than The Body Shop ones I’ve been besotted with in the past, I like the tub  that feels like a mini ice cream tub and I find that quite often reach for this twice or even three times a day. My arms feel much, much better and I’m starting to actually want to use this on my legs and body too. Quench Me has made me a moisturising convert, however I can see this being an empty quite quickly – it doesn’t spread too far and sinks in quickly I think within a month if you’re a heavy user of moisturisers (why are there no alternate words for moisturisers) that this would be used up very quickly.

And that’s all! I was highly tempted to purchase a couple of the bath products from this range too as they looked just as instagrammable however y’all know by now I’m just not a bath girl.

Have you tried the new Zoella Splash Botanics Range yet?

I don’t get the hype about baths either lol. The packaging is pretty and the products seem like good basics for the price point, I like body moisturisers in tubs as it means you can use up every last bit, some people say it’s unhygienic but most of the time people are using them after a shower/bath anyway 🙂 I’ve got a Sweet Inspirations body lotion to use at some point which I’m looking forward to x

Unless it’s a huge swimming pool sized bath in a hotel I can’t enjoy myself, I’m too lanky, limbs stick out everywhere and it’s not a comfortable experience!
I agree about tubs, it’s very easy to scoop out every bit that’s around the edge! The sweet inspirations line I remember being nice, I didn’t pick anything up from it though. x

I’m not a bath person either! In the winter, the water gets cold quick. In the summer it’s just too hot for it it seems and the overall experience is not really that comfortable for me unless it’s one of those large swanky ones like in hotels.

I’ve not actually thought to try anything Zoella (nothing against her – just never really considered it) however I do think the packaging is pretty and fresh. I’m actually finishing up an Aveeno body lotion so maybe I can give her sorbets a go after?

The sorbets are really nice for summer as a product for getting to sink in quickly, I hate the waiting time for a product to sink in especially during summer and these just instantly soak into the skin.
I’m the same – the bath needs to be a borderline swimming pool for me to use it! The next house we’re hoping to buy has two bathrooms and both have baths and I just look at the space thinking that’s going to be a really swanky shower at some point haha!
