Five New In in Haircare

Five New In in Haircare

If you’ve read any of my declutters or collections in the past you’ll know I absolutely having excess haircare around. It’s the largest of all the bottles and takes up so much space, so I’m always reluctant at buying more as one more bottle of something takes up so much space, so every haircare additions is carefully considered! That being said I have five new items in haircare that have popped up in my collection over the past month or two that were worth talking about.

Schwarzkopf #Instashine Hairspray

Long time readers will know that I had a raging love affair with the Schwarzkopf Rise N Shine hairspray for the past 3/4 years and even dedicated a love letter to it on my blog. I’m very fussy when it comes to hairsprays, most stick to the back of my throat and smell vile, but that one had great hold without being sticky or solid, smelt great and was super budget friendly. Naturally I was absolutely devastated when it was discontinued at the start of the year and as I used up the last drops of the one I had in storage I’d been left trying others that just weren’t cutting it in comparison.

When I stepped into Savers at the weekend and I saw this new hairspray from them and my eyes lit up like the Vegas strip. This had all the same qualities on paper and I wondered whether that this was the same hairspray but repackaged and after a few uses I’m happy to confirm that it pretty much is. The only noticeable change to this for me is that the scent is slightly different, the old had a ‘raspberry’ scent to it (personally, I didn’t think it was distinguishably fruity) whilst this has still a pleasant but slightly different scent to it.

I know lots of my friends who I’ve recommended this to over the years were also horrified that it had disappeared from shelves and a few people who had heard about it via my blog. So I’m happy to report it’s a suitably great dupe for it’s predecessor.

Label.m Anti-Frizz Lotion

My sister in law gave me this after she had chopped my hair and I was a little bit like “okay, thanks… bet I have a lot of products that are similar” but have been absolutely loving this in the two months I’ve had it. Over summer I always suffer with some frizz thanks to my naturally wavy hair when it gets humid and this just stops it from happening. I apply it on wet hair and smooth it through before brushing, I find it helps me brush through my hair really well like a detangled and when I blow dry my hair it’s soft and silky afterwards and no matter whether I leave it, straighten it or curl it I find that my style stays looking better and frizz free for much longer.

It’s quite a dinky bottle for £15.95 however I do find that it goes quite far too. I’m about a third of the way through it after two months and I know with similar products that I’ve tried in the past (which arguably haven’t been as good) have only lasted me about 2-3 months on a much bigger tube. A future staple in my hairdryer and also loved because it is such a small bottle for it’s less cluttery appearance.

Schwarzkopf Got 2 B Fresh it Up Dry Shampoo

I wasn’t quite sure what the deal was with this dry shampoo after seeing it in Superdrug, they had no full sizes of it and I thought I’d take it to the till alongside my basket of treats and see what it went through as, as it wasn’t marked with a price. After seeing that it suspiciously went through as a mere penny I decided to keep schtum.

Looking it up when I got home I saw that this is a formula that is exclusive to Primark in the UK – I don’t know whether it’s a product that’s going to start making it’s way into other stores and it was getting teased in Superdrug but all I have to say about this dry shampoo is wow.

It’s a very powdery feeling formula which initially I was like oh this is going to be bad, with such dark roots I find that when they come out so white and powdery they leave a cast over my hair which  looks awful. However it brushes out well and whilst it mattifies the hair it doesn’t take it to the point where it feels dry and leaves a slight bit of shine (that doesn’t take you back to looking greasy!). The hair just looks clean, the light fragrance it has makes it smell clean and the biggest plus? It looks properly clean and can easily be restyled which I often struggle with with most dry shampoos. I am so incredibly impressed with it after the past 3 uses and as someone who can normally buy herself just one day out of a dry shampoo use between washes I’ve managed with this to put three days onto my wash schedule without feeling like a complete greb too.

If I don’t see it in Superdrug soon I will be going out of my way to Primark to repurchase it. It could well have knocked my beloved Aussie Dry Shampoo off the top spot that it’s held for 4+ years at this point.

Schwarzkopf Gliss Liquid Silk Conditioner

I promise the three Schwarzkopf items in this post is a total coincidence and not a secret sponsored post (although Schwarzkopf do get in touch if you’re reading!). I have never tried anything from the Gliss line as far as I am aware (there’s certainly no mention of it in any of my empties in the past, so if I did it was a long time ago). I’ve become a bit of a snob when it comes to haircare and I’ve found when I’ve spent at the very cheap end of the scale in the past it generally hasn’t worked out very well for me.

After a whiff of this I thought the 99p conditioner was worth a try and I’m very pleasantly surprised by it. It’s left my hair very soft when I tried this for the first time over the weekend and I noticed my hair was very easy to brush through too and the knots naturally felt like they were cascading out. The one thing I would say is that these are small bottles, I felt like I used about a quarter of this at once.

Funnily I’ve just seen that it seems to have been reformulated and repackaged just as I’ve discovered it, but I will be checking it out again in future as it’s left me that impressed!

Herbal Essences Bio:Renew Volume White Grapefruit & Mosa Mint Conditioner

I’m sure you’re just about sick of me talking about the Bio Renew line from Herbal Essences now, I’ve nearly tried all the ranges, I think I’ve tried five of seven at this point! And I can see what you’re thinking… another conditioner? I go through conditioner about twice as quick as I do shampoo, which is odd as I always double wash with shampoo, so you’d think they’d be at least even!

This line smells as good as all the others I’ve tried, the grapefruit is really fresh which is complimented with the more subdued mint. Now my hair is a bit shorter I’m enjoying and finding it much easier to curl my hair, I think I had it thinned out a little too much in retrospect and I’m liking adding a bit of volume back in to give it some increased texture. I’ve only used this once so far and I followed up by straightening it, so I knocked any additional volume effects significantly – however I will report back on this in an empties as to whether I thought it worked.

That’s it for this roundup of new ins! I’d love to hear any favourites you’ve discovered lately, or any constant tried and true favourites you’ve been using for years. I’m starting to see a bit of light at the end of the tunnel on a few products and I will be getting to the point where I need to repurchase in some categories! Is it sad that I’m genuinely happy for you to have found a replacement hair spray?! I felt for you when your fave was discontinued, it’s so annoying when that happens. I actually might pick this one up myself, plus a couple of the other products you mentioned! x

Haha thanks Rhi – it was a painful process of letting go of it – I’m glad that I’ve found one that works as well and doesn’t absolutely stink or stick to my throat! xx

I’m super pleased you found a dupe for your favourite hairspray! The pink bottle and holographic label on the Schwarzkopf Gliss conditioner are dreamy, for 99p it sounds like a bargain – is the reformulated version that cheap? x

Yay thank you! Yes its a brand we only seem to see in cheaper shops like Savers which is a bit of a bargain basement for essentials and Poundland! I found out it had been reformulated for finding it on the Β£1 website!
