Bobbi Brown Cali Rose Crushed Lip Colour Lipstick

Bobbi Brown Cali Rose Crushed Lip Colour Lipstick

Bobbi Brown has been a brand that I’ve never gravitated towards and always overlooked – I think it’s because it’s another one of those brands that was never around me growing up (and to be fair still isn’t the closest counter is 50 miles away) so therefore finding somewhere I could regularly swatch away at my hearts content was rare and as a result I’ve never purchased anything before. I think I’ve maybe had the odd sample of things along the way, but otherwise the Bobbi Brown Cali Rose Crushed Lip Colour is my first experience with the brand.

This is an item that can be labelled as ‘Full Coverage Podcast’ made me do it. I heard these being raved about my hosts Harriet Hatfield and Lindsay Kelk and the way they talked about them was enough to convince me that I needed one to add to my never ending pile of lipsticks. I’d swatched them when I was on a no-buy after Christmas and that was enough to seal the deal. My friend Lora spotted these in a CCO in January for a good five-or-so-pounds off and recommended the shade ‘Cali Rose’ was the most Rachael shade out of the pile so I asked her to pick it up for me whilst it was at a bargain price point.

The packaging of these are lovely – they remind me of the vibe that the MAC liptensity lipsticks give by matching the colour of the packaging with the colour of the lipstick. The packaging is lovely, it has a slight matte feeling that verges on that rubberised NARS like texture but overall quality wise it does remind me of the MAC lipstick, nice but not fancy but crucially it also makes me want to collect them all.

When I saw the shade of this one I thought Lora might have forgotten that I’m a sucker for those rose tones and picked me out a good rapsberry (which don’t get me wrong, it still would have got a lot of love!) but the packaging could easily fool you.

Swatched this pays off completely differently to how it looks in the tube. The intensity of the pigment is far less which meant that the colour was the more muted rose tones that I perpetually gravitate towards. That’s not to say that they are sheer, but they don’t pay off as dark as it appears. The thing I instantly fell in love with was these was the texture, these are the most comfortable wearable texture that still have a balmy feeling texture. The formula alongside the crushed pigments are formulated with beeswax (for lip care and protection), Vitamin E an C (moistursing, nourishment and even lip tone).

The finish on the lips sits somewhere between a satin and a cream sheen which whilst I love, I don’t normally associate with longevity. This is where these differ and I can see that this is where this formula is something entirely different to anything else in my collection. Boy oh boy. These have long-wear for something of this texture. As the day goes the balmy feeling fades a little but the pigment stays on the lips like a stain.

This has rapidly become a staple in my handbag, it’s something I can rely on to be both comfortable and long-wearing at the same time. The neutral pink tone to this is just enough to give some interest but less enough to match with most eye looks and clothes that it means it’s been my go-to for the past few months without worry about it. Whilst this is a fairly neutral shade that wears away pretty gracefully through the day I’ve only heard good things about the other shades in the range, including the darker ones. You better believe when I’m next near a counter I’m having a play.

Bobbi Brown Cali Rose Swatches

A short and sweet review of Bobbi Brown Cali Rose Crushed Lip Colour from me today, but it’s a formula I just had to share and recommend – if you’re in the market for an ultra comfortable lip that you can also trust to not let you down, this is the one I’d completely recommend at the moment and honestly, I don’t have another lipstick I can compare it to. I’m itching to get some other colours!

This looks beautiful, similar to MAC’s Syrup which is one of my all time faves! The packaging is deceiving, it does look as if it’s going to be a raspberry colour. What eyeshadow are you wearing in the picture, it’s lovely?! x

Good question! It’s the violet voss holy grail palette for the crease shades and then a liquid shadow on the lid from Cover FX. Review coming of it!

It doesn’t look at all how you’d think it would on. From the tube I probably wouldn’t go for that shade as it looks way too much for me, but on it looks so pretty and it really suits you x

Omg itโ€™s so weird that it comes out a completely different colour! However, it looks gorgeous and the packaging is stunning!

It’s a much subtler color than I had anticipated! Bobbi make such lovely formulas.

I was expecting such a saturated colour but I really like the sheer, almost stained look on the lips. I can see how easy this would be to reapply and would look great with different eye looks. I wish we had CCOs near me!

I really like the shades, it looks a lot more subtle on the lips than it appeared to be in the packaging. Really gorgeous for the summer months, for sure! I think that the rest of your makeup is really lovely too, btw. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thank you for sharing this fab review, hun! <3 xoxo
