Five New In Skincare

I have done a few of these posts before and I didn’t think I’d be starting so many new skincare products at once, and I mentioned in my last empties I thought it would be ages before my next one, I’ve had a pile of never ending skincare I’ve been working on finishing since last year – which i’d presumed wouldn’t get finished off any time soon however in the past week they’ve all come to an end at once.

My skin has been so good over the past one-two months and I’ve found that I’ve either finished up and eliminated a product from my routine I didn’t know was breaking me out or the cocktail of products I’ve been using has been really working for me. As a result though it makes me nervous that I’m starting a fresh with so many new products at once – but equally I have so many products in my skincare cupboard it wasn’t justified for me to go out and buy everything again.

None of these products were likely to get reviewed individually but I thought they were worth a mention and a follow up opinion in my empties.

Elemis Superfood Cleanser
I had a sample of the moisturiser a few months ago and it was one of my favourites whilst I had it, so I was excited to try this one too. It has the same very herbal heavily scented base as the moisturiser, but its a gel texture that has a slight green hue. To start with on the first few uses I felt like I couldn’t tell what it was doing for my skin and I feel like it’s maybe a too small a sample to be able to tell at the end what effect it will have had as I think it will only last me 2 weeks or so as my daily evening cleanse, however I have been able to tell that it’s amazing for removing makeup.

My one comment at the moment is that because it has such a heavy fragrance (although I feel like it’s natural), I haven’t dared use it on my eyes as of yet, I’ll pluck up the courage and report back in my empties, but it’s like a mental barrier telling me it’s not a good idea – so I can’t tell if it’s also good on eye makeup as of yet. I’ve been flittering between a lot of cleansers recently and mostly these deluxe sample size ones.

Caudalie Premier Cru Eye Cream
My Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye Cream is finally dead! I genuinely can’t believe how long that tube ended up lasting me, especially as it was getting shared with Ben. Whilst it’s around the £25 mark (I think), that is one seriously good value tube. But, onto it’s replacement in my routine.

I’m still working my way through the Kiehl’s Creamy Avocado cream which is mainly getting used in the daytime, or if I remove my makeup straight as I get in the door – I tend to do a short skincare routine before I go to bed, which it gets picked for too. This came in the last QVC Tili Box, and comes from Caudalie’s more premium line Premier Cru – Caudalie’s skincare is virtually all based around grapes and Premier Cru is a type of French wine of a more superior grade.

This is definitely a little bit thinner feeling under the eye than I was used to with Midnight Recovery – however it’s more of a gel cream texture rather than a straight cream. I’ve noticed that my under-eyes are starting to look a bit drier and need more hydration and the jury is still out as to whether this is will be enough moisture for me – but it’s an even more expensive eye cream than my Kiehl’s – but has a pretty positive set of reviews online. It’s supposed to be good for anti-ageing, firming the skin, as well as depuffing, correcting dark circles and smoothing.

It’s Skin Power 10 GF Moisture Serum
I’ve had this in my cupboard since my first ASOS box in October, this is a K-Beauty brand that I really don’t know too much about the brand at all, but it’s a very affordable moisturising serum at £13. The serums magic ingredient GF is Grifola Frondosa which is a mushroom also known as Hen-of-the-wood, which is high in anti-oxidants and good for providing moisture. I’ve only used this a handful of times so far and my skin has felt nice and hydrated over the past few days, however it’s too early to say whether it’s purely down to this or other things added into my routine, but I’ve enjoyed the very light texture that this has as it layers so well with the other products.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater
This is another product which has sat in my cupboard for ages – I’ve never really been into these facial spritz toners however I’ve been trying to finish up one from Elemis I’ve had for years, but I’ve actually really enjoying it as part of my routine and I’m slightly suspicious that it’s responsible for the positive change in my skin.

The Mario Badescu line contains my favourite cleanser ever, but I really haven’t ventured much further into their skincare and it’s one of those brands I keep wanting to come back to, but I haven’t really had to buy skincare in so long that I haven’t ended up needing to purchase anything. But these Facial Spritzes are hugely well loved from MB and the reviews on Beauty Bay are outstandingly positive. This can also reportedly be used as a setting spray, however I’ll be more likely to be keeping it as part of my moisturising routine. This has a lovely light herbal scent and the aloe element feels really lovely, fresh and moisturising on the skin.

Elegance Natural Skincare Avocado Moisturising Cream
I’ve had a few products from this brand sent to me, and whilst I’ve been trialling them in between other things I’ve been so concentrated on finishing up other products it’s only now I’m getting round to being properly dedicated to trying them. I have two moisturisers from the brand and this is the one which I seem to be naturally gravitating towards more – it’s a lighter gel cream texture which always seems to be the case when it comes to Avocado in skincare from my experience.

It’s very non-greasy in it’s formula and sinks into the skin quickly whilst layering well with the other products and serums I’m currently using. I will have a full review of the two moisturisers I tried coming in full later on but I wanted to start using them both independently and then see which one seems to agree with my skin more. It has a very light fresh scent, works well under makeup (although at the moment it is being used more in the evening as I feel like it’s easier for me to tell in the morning what a moisturiser does overnight). This was recommended to be my the company when I got in touch as they said it was great for rebalancing oily/combination skin.

That’s it for my five new in items, I may well have another shower version of these coming as I’m about to start fresh with a lot of items in there too!

I love the Mario Badescu face sprays. I’ve tried the aloe & lavender ones too and they’re all great. I think I like the rose one best though.

I use the Mario Badescu Facial spray as a primer and I love it, and I also love keeping it in my fridge because when I spray it on my face, the cold mist reduces the appearance of my pores. Lovely post!!

Ooh that sounds good – I’ve tried the whole putting beauty in the fridge before and I always forget that it’s there!
