Five Current Makeup Bag Favourites

Five Current Makeup Bag Favourites

It’s not very often that I have some absolute go-to staples that I want to use all the time, but over the past few weeks there have been Five Makeup Bag Favourites that have stood out amongst the other products… or I should say drawers because I don’t actually keep products in a makeup bag – but hey, the time sounded less catchy!

I would like to give an honorable mention to my Violet Voss Holy Grail eyeshadow palette, I haven’t included it here as I’ll be posting a full blown review before too long – but I’m not sure a day has gone by since I bought it when I’ve worn eye makeup that I’ve not reached for that gorgeous palette.

Kat Von D Lock It Foundation
I repurchased this in February after not having it in my collection for 6 months while I tried to use up other products. When I first got it I tried to limit to myself to saving it for special occasions, but now I can’t help but finding myself reaching for it pretty much every day. This is just my favourite foundation, the high coverage matte finish is just so friendly for my oily skin and the shade is the best colour match for me that I’ve ever found. I’ve said a few times I’ve been left with some pretty bad scarring on my face from some pretty terrible reactions and this has been the coverage that I needed to cover it all and have confidence it’s going to last all day long.

Stila Stay All Day Brow Pencil
Okay, so why have I never heard anyone mention this? I picked this up on a bit of a whim in my local CCO store as it was just £6 and within a week I’d gone back and bought back ups of every dark brown shade that they had left in the store (which was sadly only 2, but I would have bought more had they had them!). These have such a tiny delicate nib which is perfect for creating a really defined brow easily with real hair like strokes. The colour match is perfect and it lasts all day, with a spoolie on the other end it brushes through and looks lovely on the brow. Even at full price I’d still recommend these.

High Definition Contour Stick in Tan
I was sent this in April and I was a little bit dubious, in the past I’ve never really gotten along with these kinds of products too well as I’ve always found them too dark, too pigmented, difficult to blend and just looking a bit too unnatural on the skin. So much so when I did my big makeup clearout that they were pretty much the first product to be entirely wiped out from my collection.

Estee Lauder Blush in Peach Witty
Over the past few months I’ve really fell out of love with blush and I’ve not been reaching for it all that often, when I opened my drawer a few weeks ago I decided that I would be wise to start using them as I had so many to get through – and naturally fell back to my old favourite ombre peach favourite from Estee Lauder. Now I’m back into the routine I haven’t stopped using it and I feel like it’s giving such a pretty flush of colour to the cheeks for spring. I love the bigger compact that this had over the older Peach Nuance version that I finished up about a year ago and find it’s much easier to get a nice light and even dusting of colour across the blush brush from swirling across the ombre. If you tend to be heavy handed with blush like I am this is a really perfect option as it’s so hard to overdo it, whilst still being buildable in pigment.

Laura Gellar Baked Gelato Highlight in Gilded Honey
Back in December I picked up a makeup bag that was packed of goodies and one of the main items that was a draw to me purchasing was this highlighter that I’d been wanting to try for ages. When it arrived I was a little bit disappointed that it was so tiny as I thought… well I won’t get much use from this – but it’s pretty much been my highlighter of choice for the last few months and it’s still no where near empty – the baked formula goes so far and it looks so pretty on the skin – it’s a gorgeous soft formula that adds a really pretty glow to the skin. Off the bat it’s pretty intense and a very obvious glow – but it can also be applied with a careful hand for a more subtle look. Gilded Honey is the perfect name for this shade as it’s such a lovely warm golden honey tone. If you’ve been wanting to try these out I’d recommend the formula is gorgeous and longwearing.

That Estee Lauder blush looks absolutely stunning! I also have the KVD foundation. I do really like it.. but for some reason it’s just not my favourite.. When I do reach for it I do think it looks nice on the skin. But the Estee Lauder double wear will be hard to match for me! xx

I really want to try the Kat Von D foundation but I just know that I will use it every day and be out of it so soon, when it is quite expensive. I have the Tarte shape tape foundation, I think Kat Von D will be next on mylist to buy haha. I am so weak

I’m not much of a blush person either but I do want to get back into using it again and the Estee Lauder Blush looks perfect. Awesome review!
