I don’t know what came over me – a late night just-before-midnight browse of ASOS’ sale for shoes naturally lead me to the beauty section where I found myself ordering their latest beauty box. I’ve reviewd one of these in the past and it still gets a lot of views 6+ months on and whilst i’ve kept an eye on the boxes they’ve released I haven’t been tempted my another.
I’ll preface this review with saying that I do think this box is good value, but I’m not sure what made me order it as it’s not really for me. *Insert shrugging shoulder emoji*. They have mostly released boxes on a monthly basis but I’ve checked some months and seen that there hasn’t been a new box – they don’t seem to promote these brands too heavily but it’s a good way to discover some of the beauty brands available on ASOS. The boxes are £12 each and are not a subscription, you can see the contents before you buy and if you are on Premier delivery is free as usual.
This particular box was themed with being a wedding guest in mind, so think glowy summery makeup that’s easy and longwearing. This box contains 5 items which together have a total value of £46.49 and they are all full size items.
First up I felt like I had to start with the Iconic Ardell Demi Wispies (£5.50). I think these lashes will still be going strong in ten years and are a lash that’s talked about more than any other. I’m not a big false lash wearer and I tend to go for individuals if I do wear them – and therefore I’ve never tried this iconic style – I’m going to have to keep these to finally give them a try!
Sleek Blush By 3 Palette (£9.99) is something that I’ve owned and liked before however it’s one that will be heading to my giveaway pile. I have enough blush at the moment and I’m not finding myself wearing it all that often either at the moment. This contains 2 matte blushes in a coral and orange shades with a shimmery NARS Orgasm-esque dupe in the middle. In the past I was only able to finish up the middle shade as the other two were far too pigmented for my heavy hand, but they’re a gorgeous formula and I’m sure whoever receives this in the future will love it!
This is a paddle style eye brush/nose contour brush from Pro-Tools – this size is only seemingly available as part of a set but similar size brushes from the brand retail for about £7. I’ve only got a few medium size face brushes in this style and this is something I’d been wanting to try.
Next is the Coloured Raine Matte Liquid lipstick in the shade Satin Creme (£12.00) – this is a medium cool toned brown shade that’s really pretty, but to me is pretty wintery. With the other colours in this box I think this is a bit too dark and a peachier pink colour might have tied in the colours on the eyes and cheeks better. However this is a formula of liquid lipstick I do really enjoy which must have been one of my late night justifications for ordering as alone this is as much as the whole box.
Last up is the ASOS own beauty product – I’ve not gotten around to trying own brand from ASOS yet but I have eyed the range a few times. This is a shadow palette with six shades inside in the colourway Devotion (£12.00). These are pretty rose-toned neutrals and it looks like a nice travel sized palette as a wedding guest – so I’m looking forward to having one thing from the ASOS to start trying out.
I’m not unimpressed with the box and I think it offers decent value but like I said at the beginning I’m not sure what quite possessed me to order it – I think I must have been thinking, well I wanted to try the ASOS beauty line and the cost of that is as much as the box – and if not the cost of the Coloured Raine Lip Paint would have covered the rest. Note to self don’t shop on ASOS at midnight. (Sidenote on that – I ordered at just before midnight, and the parcel beat me to work the next morning at 8.49 delivered. That’s nuts ASOS).
Whilst I’m not sure this was the best investment of my money I think there are some people who will really like and enjoy this box. There’s a good range of products and pretty much gives you a full face of makeup without a base and offers almost as good value as the box over double the price which I reviewed yesterday.

I’ve never heard of these boxes before! I like the look of the liquid lipstick and the false eyelashes especially. It’s good that you can look at what’s in the box before you order it too- because sometimes with boxes like these you don’t actually know what’s in them, which can often end in disaster!

It seems like good value if you actually want the things, it’s also not a box for me but I’ll have to remember to keep an eye out for the ASOS boxes whenever I’m looking on there for something. I totally forgot they even have their own makeup range, the palette looks like a nice mix of colours though so maybe I’ll have to check it out whenever I next order and see if there’s anything I want to try.

I think if there’s one or two items that are on your to try list on boxes like this then they generally work out good value – for example if you wanted to try that sleek palette everything else would come to £2, but if it’s so-so across the board then they’re often not worth it!
I like the idea of boxes that aren’t subscription based, and you can see what you get beforehand. They used to be just called beauty bundles… a good value and would contain maybe one or two items you really want, and the rest were “hrmm I guess I’ll try that out”. I personally really like the contents of this box and would use all the items… I guess the novelty factor of brands like Sleek and ASOS which is harder for me to get my hands on.

I guess my “I’m not sure why” is purely because I have had that sleek palette in the past and whilst I liked it, I successfully finished it and it took ages so didn’t want it back 😂
