Ten Empties #7

Dun, dun, dun – another ten bite the dust. I think we all pretty much know the drill with these now so I’m just going to jump right into the bottles making their way to the recycling!

Haircare

L’Oreal Botanics Geranium Shampoo
I pretty much hated and slated the Botanics Camelina line a few empties ago which left my hair dry and straw-like. This shampoo was much better than the shampoo and conditioner than that line – but it’s still a pricier line than I normally go for at that end of the spectrum (£8.99 each) and I definitely have things I prefer way more (and don’t come from L’Oreal!).

Girlz Only No Residue Nude Dry Shampoo
I picked this up on a bit of a whim in Tesco’s – I believe this is a Tesco own brand and was hoping to discover a cheap dry shampoo that worked. This was just shit and made absolutely no difference – it was a token gesture at best providing I used a quarter of the can at a time. Smelt okay – but nothing wow!

Bodycare

Faith in Nature Grapefruit and Orange Shower Gel
I got this in my advent calendar and this is the first item I’ve actually got around to using. I liked this but I don’t know that I would go out of my way to rebuy it – it’s available in Holland and Barrett and it’s not very often I shop there. I liked it was quite a thin liquid so it all came out with ease at the end rather than having to bash the bottle about to finish it thoroughly.

Bayliss and Harding Midnight Fig and Pomegranate Hand Soap
I bought these at Christmas time and finished one of these much quicker than I thought I would. I still have one going in our toilet downstairs and I absolutely love the scent of these. Figs and Pomegranate are some of my favourite scents and together the combination was lovely – the pomegranate was a more prominent scent over fig though.
Repurchase? Already have one left, but yes!

Skincare

Garnier Micellar Water
I’m pretty shocked to discover that this is the first one of these I have used up this year! I normally go through one of these every 2 months or so so the fact we’re over three months in is a shocker to me. My forever go-to, nothing has come close to competing with this staple in my collection!
Repurchase? Yes, yes and yes again.

Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Toner
This was in my lastest Products I’m Trying To Use Up and has been the one I’ve been trying to use up for the best part of 3 months. I loved the pads from this range and accidentally picked this up thinking it was a toner. I couldn’t pin point this helping my skin at all and it was even not great at removing makeup. Overall a bit of a dud for me and there are definitely products I prefer more from the range.

Makeup

Colourpop No Filter Concealer (review)
One of the few products on this list I have actually reviewed! I didn’t mind (whilst it’s not my favourite ever!) this concealer but it had a huge problem with oxidisation which you can see in my review. As the product aged it even started to oxidise in the tube. I’d consider rebuying again n 3 to 4 shades paler but there wasn’t that much product in this tube – it’s deceptively big for how much is actually in.

NARS Creamy Concealer
When I did my clearout and reorganise I found this concealer and I’d completely forgot I bought it in Space NK over a year ago! It hasn’t even been tried at all. Firstly this was about £12 and was a giant rip off for how much was in it, I felt like the applicator failed to really pick up much product and it was frustrating to use I felt like I couldn’t make that much assessment on it! I have a full size donated by my friend Molly who had a shade way too dark for her and it’s perfect for me so I will give it a proper try and report back.
Repurchase? No need to!

The Ordinary High-Spreadability Primer
I have one more product left to thoroughly test before I post my review of the two primers and two foundations from my review post – but this was one that was hard to finish, I will say that for now – and I’m not unhappy to see the back of it, I feel like I’ve been working on this one since Christmas!
Repurchase? You’ll have to wait for the review!

Essence All About Matt Pressed Powder
I bought this up when I was in Wilkos and had found myself with a lack of powder at home and no time to go anywhere else. I loved the All About Matt concealer (which they seem to have discontinued… sad face) – but thought the powder was worth a go. My skin is definitely not as oily at the moment and I felt like this wouldn’t have done a great job when I was at my oiliest, but it was a good budget powder option for my skin now – but there’s things I’ve tried and liked more.

Extras

All three of these extras are all perfumes this time around.

YSL Black Opium
Molly gave me some of these knowing that I loved it and I already used one up whilst travelling over easter. I have a review of this perfume coming hopefully this week!

Shawn Mendes Signature Perfume
This I was given in Superdrug with a purchase and it’s a unisex fragrance. I often find with Unisex perfumes that women think they smell too manly, and men think that they smell too womanly – both Ben and I agreed that we wouldn’t *not* wear this – but we wouldn’t buy it either.

Jimmy Choo Perfume
I think this was a twist on the Jimmy Choo fragrance but I’ve lost the card it came on and it doesn’t say on the bottle. This was nice – but I wouldn’t repurchase I definitely have things that give off a very similar vibe.

My total is now over £500 worth of used up products for this year – and with the ‘extras’ I’ve managed to finish up 100 items! I’d love to see what that pile would have looked like all together – for just over a third of the way into the year if this was to continue by the end of the year I would be at around 400 items and a £2k+ value! You can peek at my 2018 empties spreadsheet at any time by clicking here. if you would like to read the first posts in the series, you can click here to see what I already finished up this year.
